Possibility of an American civil war

USA have directly and indirectly supported so many dictators and regimes over the years. From Latino-america to Africa to middle east... they have caused many civil wars behind the meme "freedom & democracy™".

With BLM/Antifas on one side and Redneck hillbillies on the other! Chinese and Russians providing money/ammunition to both sides, the same way CIA does it!

Will we finally see an American civil war in upcoming weeks?

    Fingers crossed!

I think civil war maybe the wrong term but violence will be spreading across many states at a level prob never seen before since the last civil war.

Antifa, BLM will not accept a Trump win and neither will his supporters if the election results are close.

I agree with you, this nation has destroyed many nations , killing millions for their own self interests. Therefore I dont think many outsiders will be sympathetic to the Yanks going forward.

Biden is almost certain to win. Might see some violence from far right. Civil war is a stretch.

I think there's a possibility of severe unrest, trump needs to learn How to accept defeat which looks inevitable, otherwise the so called giant of democracy is going to show it's true colours.

A civil war is highly unlikely. However, there can be some violent incidents.

Eyewitness: Arizona protests: Crowd erupts as conspiracy theorist Alex Jones shows up

By Helen-Ann Smith, in Phoenix, Arizona

Night two of protests outside the Elections Office in Phoenix, Arizona, and tensions were ratcheting up.

Protestors here believe some ballots have been spoiled by marker pens seeping through the paper - a concern investigated and then debunked by Arizona's Republican attorney general.

The atmosphere was calm to begin with, but then there was a sudden commotion.

A surprise entrance from America's far-right conspiracy theorist in chief, was met with roars from the crowd.

Alex Jones is so extreme he's been banned from Facebook, Twitter and Google, but he was greeted here as a hero.

A few counter-protestors armed with signs of Donald Trump as a caricatured pig tried to spoil the show.

Things began spilling out into the road, tempers flared and it felt for a moment like things could turn ugly.

Thankfully others stepped in urging calm and things dissipated.

But it speaks to the volatility of the climate.

This isn't a large group but their views hang heavy around this election, their fears stoked by a president embattled.

The race here is razor-tight and getting tighter. We may not know the outcome for a few days

Even I think mass violent incidents is a bit of a stretch, no? There'll be protests and anger of course, but at some point regular people will just go home and get on with their lives. Certainly not a civil war.

Was there not also this anger and divisiveness 4 years ago?

When Biden is President, we are going to witness far more social unrest in USA like never before.

Do not be fooled. Biden is a warmongering President-Elect. He supported every war, bombing, and drone attack on innocent people when he was VP. Now Biden's VP is no worse given her policies towards ethnic minorities in CA, especially the Black community.

You know why Obama awarded the highest civilian award to Biden? So that Biden may retire from politics. It was Obama that convinced Biden not to run in 2016. Biden is hopeless and a fraud. Biden's track record, or rather lack of it, is proof of this.

Though knowing the left, they will continue to blame Trump, the Russians, and the innocent people who cannot put food on the table for their familes.

Look at every revolution, it is preceded by austerity. When you figure this out, you will realise cause. Too late now though, Trump's vision is now an ideological force. You need to ask yourself, how do the Republicans and Democrats appeal to the 70M Trump voters in the future.

large scale agitation is unlikely. I cant see these snowflakes engaging in a prolonged campaign. The state will seriously crush them. They have most probably already infiltrated every group there and will soon begin to dismantle them if they become an ever serious threat. Infiltrating right wing groups is a days work for their state.

As for the voters, well they will vote again in two years then in another two years. 4 years flies by. They will bide their time, campaign for their prefferred candidates for next mid terms.

Imagine a country where people shoot for fun and the police don’t have first aid training.

No one looking to put pressure on the wound to control the bleeding.

Police Scotland would probably be better trained for this situation than the American police.

    Nothing's going to happen.
Biden will assume office and it will all be business as usual. The rednecks will protest for a while and get back to Bible-hugging, beer drinking, country music and NASCAR.

The American democracy is strong enough to withstand Trump and his band of morons.

I think for the first time Trump has offered something new to the voters. His attack on media, on politicans, on policies, his upfront style is what is appealing and I predict voters will want more as opposed to the same old same old Presidents/Party lines of the past. I really do believe he has given rise to a new ideology and has revealed what Americans really think.

A war mongering President might be good for the nation's cohesion, wars are usually against foreigners, and it's common wisdom that wars against outsiders often bring a country together. They will need to pick the right enemy though, Iraq was a decent target as expenditure could be offset against oil wealth which could be collected as part of the "protection" terms.

Many more, but Media would have criticized the police as well, and if it was an African American who was unarmed and shot, there would have been nationwide protests and calls to defund police

They (anyone other than rednecks) would have been stopped 500 meters away from the main entrance. No one would have crossed the 1st security layer let alone getting inside.

The flaw in this is that many traditional GOP voters - the decent, sensible ones - will be appalled by yesterday and will never touch Trump again. He has no chance at all of securing the RNC nomination again. He will have to set up a Trump Party. All that will achieve is to split the right vote and elect another Democrat.

He has the capacity to cause harm to the USA over the next few years by manipulating his cult, but will never be President again.

    U mad bro?

No one was ever stupid enough to start a civil war.

The OP is just a dig at 'Muricans trying to spread freedom and democracy in 2nd/3rd world countries by instigating racial, religious or political violence. There is a documented history of that. Millions (with an S) have died and their surviving generations are still living a miserable life because of a meaningless war to enforce freedom and democracy.

Took me a while to search this documentary so you better give it a watch

I disagree, once Biden is in power, his antics will further divide USA, as did Obama, and once again set the platform for Trump.

For the record, Trump never said to raid Capitol Hill, in fact he told the rioters to go home. Again, the Democrats and MSM spinning yarns.

Trump is an ideology now. What happened yesterday is a parallel to how USA gained independence - fight against the establishment. This sort of stuff is fuel in the American psyche.

PS I love how you said the 'decent ones' you still believe all who voted for Trump were racists.

No: 7, 6 January 2021, Press Release Regarding the Developments in the USA
We are following with concern the internal developments happening in the U.S. following the Presidential elections which culminated in the Capitol Hill building being breached by protesters today.

We call on all parties in the U.S. to maintain restraint and prudence. We believe the U.S. will overcome this internal political crisis in a mature manner.

We advise Turkish citizens in the U.S. to avoid crowded areas and places where protests are taking place.

Well I for one would be glad if the right is actually going to stay true to their words. For decades their reason for opposing hun control laws has been the 2nd amendment and the right of Americans to arm themselves and defend against oppressive government. That has always been the backbone of their gun rights defense.
Time to put your money where your mouth is. I want them to try out an armed rebellion against their government and see how far they get. The whole premise of their argument has been as misguided as their current predicament about fighting for freedom.

Mostly, they are a group of dumbos parroting what NRA and its marketing campaign tells them.

I know we have a reputation for following in US footsteps, but I hope this isn't the case here. America has a different social make up, I think Britain on the whole is a bit more civilised and there is a more mature approach to politics.

    +1

Yea, we claim higher ground compared to other European countries but overall, we are a bit Neanderthal like compared to the UK and Europe. We have some very archaic/idiotic/radical aspects that we justify in the name of the founding fathers. Could definitely learn a thing or two from the Scandinavian countries.

Probably quite a few. I wouldn’t be surprised. But mostly they are cowards without any courage of conviction and when it comes to jeopardizing their livelihood and being hunted by the government, they immediately fall in line.

The problem with DC riots was they were not formally educated regarding the consequences of openly fraternizing with the rioters. They honestly thought these were good, america loving patriots exercising their rights. Call it their stupidity or whatever!

Lets not kid ourselves. Amreeka has changed (Trump), the UK has changed (Brexit).

The looney lefties need to quit brushing these events under the carpet and stop pretending like Brexit/Trump never happened.

Brexit and Trump are symptoms, and if you don't address cause (Austerity), then you ain't solved kak. All you've done is kick the can down the road, because tomorrow if it's not Trump, it will be someone else who connects with the common man and his cause.

There are 73M Amreekans who voted for Trump. Don't think for a moment the concerns of the BLM and non-white race are higher priority. Be a proper tree hugger for once and view everyone as equal.

I don’t think austerity is the cause. It is one factor among many. Remember that the Tea Party was active before Trump, and far right shock jocks have been banging on for decades. Trump was effective in seeing a gap in the market and mobilising these disparate movements.

The culture war began in the eighties when Bush turned “liberal” into a bad word instead of one that means a philosophy of freedom of the individual under law.

BLM? lol what are they doing? They are not trying to take over the country. ANtifa is not really a group. Do you know any prominent name from antifa? It is just a bull s trump's team use it against left. Real threat is the neo nazis/kkk/whitesupremacists/proudboys and other groups who have guys from military, police. This is the correct observation. This is my 15 year observation as well. The far right was always there. But it never went main stream as the regular republicans didn't want to associate themselves with them. Trump not being a politician or having interest in pursuing political ambitions in the future had nothing to lose. He openly embraced these radicals. He gave voice to them power to them.

Austerity is the cause. 100% fact. Let's take numeral uno example in the West, Hitler.

Civil war in full time underway. People need to stop thinking of war as fought with old skool weapons. Times have moved on. You don't need a nuke to detonate society.

    Bingo!
He identified an opportunity and took advantage of it and in the process magnified the “cause” which is millions of jaded white under educated Americans who blame all their problems on globalism and immigration and none on the organic and natural evolution of things.

Times are getting tougher, it’s becoming more and more competitive out there. They cannot expect $65k-80k paying jobs per year with just HS education. They have to compete with incoming qualified and skilled immigrants. And also face the facts that high labor costs they helped create is Whats driven manufacturing to low labor countries like China.

There is a lot of fluff in what trump preached mainly because he knew what his audience wanted to hear but he never produced the goods. Building a wall, showing the middle finger to trade partners, refusing to lay NATO, refusing global warming etc are not things that would have helped his base to begin with.

It was all a sham.. but it looked good in rallies!

Of course the real threat is KKK and right terrorists. Even an FBI big shot was warning government a few months ago.

When these people (White supremacists) start something, who is gonna oppose them? The natural answer is their opposite: which is BLM/Antifa.

Yes freedom of speech is on trial here.

If big tech want to censor those with whom they disagree then they are no longer ‘platforms’ but publishers and in that case must be legally liable for what is said on their platforms. They cannot have it both ways. Free speech cannot be for a select few.

It seems as if Biden wants some sort of violent uprising.

For a new President to attack the opposition supporters as he has done is pretty pathetic. He is calling pretty much all Trump supporters as racist/fascist, traitors etc. Anyone who showed sympathy towards the Capitol demonstrators is also an iinsurrectionist. Add hate+guns and it's just a matter of time before a major bloody incident in the US.

This is not a freedom of speech issue. Big tech does not have to give a platform to anyone, because they are not a civic authority. Their platform, their rules. If I come to your house and started spouting slander and you order me to leave, you are not abrogating my freedom of speech, you are upholding your right of property.

Not if it means they are working together , creating a monopoly, there are laws against this in the US and most countries.

They are also not consistent, using their terms to pick and choose which content is not acceptable.

Amazon control most of the web servers, they can also pick and choose which content they want removed.

People wont stop talking on the net, they will create new platforms of their own which will be more underground and hard to control, resulting in possibly more negative plans.

Thes tech companies are only helping to cause more divide, possibly helps them control their own power.

These are different issues though. Yes their algorithms are polarising society. Yes they should be broken up by the Monopolies Commission because they have too much concentrated power and that is inherently illiberal.

Obama used Cambridge Analytica in 2012 elections. He did exactly what Trump's campaign did in 2016.

"In 2008, it was Google and Facebook that went to Barack Obama and met him at San Francisco airport and told him all about the power of this personal data,” he said. Yet, "the great opposition party — media — never went after the Obama campaign, never went after the progressive left as they've been doing this for years. And in 2013, when I thought a data company might be important, all the sudden it becomes global news."

Then they are owned by private individuals. They are not civic / public utilities or co-ops. If the shareholders want to give Trump a platform, they should hold an EGM and put it to the vote. I use these platforms but don’t hold shares so I have no say. PP has removed plenty of my posts. That’s ok, it’s their house not mine.

On the prospect of a second American civil war: I think the USA could indeed be headed this way, particularly if the impeachment of Trump is upheld as a conviction by the Senate and he is prevented from running in 2024.

The country is literally split straight down the middle by two extreme opposing positions — around half are passionately (and in some cases fanatically) pro-Trumpers, whereas the other half are strongly never-Trumpers. Biden won because he was Not Trump.

The pro-Trump side has also demonstrated clearly on the world stage, and in the heart of the capital city, that it is prepared to use violence and force to further its agenda.

These are tragically ideal civil war conditions.

I don't see it happening, in this day and age especially in the US, such a thing would impossible. Both sides have clearly demonstrated they are not brave enough or professional enough to go up against the US military if war is to brew, heck look at Capitol Hill where the National Guard (and military I think?) have been deployed, you don't see one Trumper dare to do a repeat of the 6th.
The US Military and groups like the FBI are professional units that have strict chain of command and are beholden to the executive office regardless of who is in power and what their political beliefs are. Any rumours or reports of civil war ideas, they would nip the bud before it could even walk. Unless the military defects like they do in third world countries, any civil war/coup de etat would be impossible imo.

I think there is a higher chance of Biden being assassinated by one of these fanatics.

You what? Forget pro-Trump, the USA has demonstrated that it is prepared to use violence at the global stage - ME wars. Trump opposed the agenda, and violence struck home, Trump's supporters are to blame? These anti Trump supporters, are willing to support Biden who pushed for war and violence!

The Looney left label Trump/Brexit supporters - Racists. Instead of listening to people who had legitimate greviences and concerns, the LL listened to the media.

We are witnessing how the LL have been exposed with their double standards and hypocrisy. The divisions are the result of the racist and fascit left - neo fascit liberals.

You have a 3rd category, those who are not pro Trump, but who realize that he was not the AntiChrist (and Biden Imam Mahdi) as the leftists would have you believe

Refusing to talk to Chinese journalist was not at all unfair (if it was Chinese-American journalist than it was absolutely garbage/racist behavior)

No. He is upholding the right of property. I am amazed that people don’t get this. Private companies don’t have the responsibility to provide a platform for someone’s right to free speech.

The pro-Trump side has also demonstrated clearly on the world stage, and in the heart of the capital city, that it is prepared to use violence and force to further its agenda.

I don’t think it is that polarised yet. A lot of Trump’s 75M voters would vote for a turnip if it had a red rosette. Others are shocked by his childish antics in not accepting the election result, and subsequent foment of sedition.

Let’s see how the seditionists go when faced with a line of National Guardsmen instead of unprepared Capitol Police.
