PSL 6 - Which Players to look-out for?
Based on some of the T20 matches and QA matches, the following few will be interesting
1) Danish Aziz - Easily the most talked about player. Hope he gets picked up by anyone other than Balochistan bcz he will not get a game there ahead of Azam Khan, Khurram Mazoor etc
2) Abdullah Shafique - Lahore shld land him to partner Chris Lynn on top. Get rid of Fluke-Zaman
3) Saif Badar - Guy needs to get his stars right.. Best of the lot and its a shame that he hasn't played games ahead of many others
4) Saud Shakil - Only if Quetta Gladiators had an ounce of shame and played him
5) This fast bowler from larkana Shahnawaz i think ... guy was raw and aggressive.. would be a good addition
6) Nasir Nawaz - Has class ... aggressive and can bat... shld get chances as an allrounder
Honorable mentions
Omair Bin Yousaf
Abrar Ahmad
Sajjad Khan

Keep any possible decent players like Omair Vin Yousuf, etc. Away from the clownfest that is the Pensioner's Super League.
I want them to stick to long format cricket and let them develop their skills. Playing in PSL will waste their time, destroy their talent and force them to slog around. They will also be mismanaged.
I definitely won't be watching PSL and do not look forward to it.

Im looking of Omair the most along with Abdullah. They both look stylish and pleasure to watch. May be Pakistan's answer for shubman gill.

Omair is striking at 72 in List A cricket
One fifty in 12 innings
Rest are deserving
I would add Mohammed Akhlaq
Hopefully PSL reduces foreign from 4 to 3

PSL is a good platform for players like Omair to step up. What's the point if you don't promote your young talents?
I don't agree with 3, PSL is already lacking the quality of foreign players unlike Ipl. 4 is tried and tested for success. This is perfect combo for experience with international stars. Ideally it should be 4 + 4 (pakistan players) + 3 (youngsters)

There's many deserving young players that should be apart of PSL 6. But the right coaches need to play the youngsters as well. PSL teams in the past have constantly overloaded teams with foreign intl. players rather than blooding youngsters through.

More than any youngster, I want to see Mohammad Wasim get a coaching role. Rest of the youngsters will follow.

Whatever we think about franchise leagues outside the IPL, a well attended PSL in Pakistan is the best stress testing PCB can offer...it creates do or die moments for bowlers and batters in a competitive/consistent environment.

I genuinely feel that it's time to limit foreign players to 3 and get more Pakistani players to play in the team. This will also help franchises to get the best foreign talent available instead of retired players and journeymen. Dunk may still work but DeKock in his place changes the entire paradigm and gets attention.
What our league hasn't understood so far is that foreign players help get the headlines, eyeballs, and attention while the local players keep the interest alive once the tournament starts. It will also be a smart business move to understand which regions are cricket crazy and get players from there. Lamichane (Nepal), Rashid Khan (Afg), a couple from Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka are better value propositions than Samit Patel or Ravi Bopara because these players belong to cricket-mad nations where people hero-worship their idols and track their performances.
The National T20 Lalso showed that there are youngsters and other emerging players who can and should easily replace the elder statesmen who have been enjoying the gravy train. Off the top of the head, these players have no place in PSL for one or the other reason
1. Muhammad Irfan
2. Rahat Ali
3. Bilawal Bhatti
4. Sohail Akhtar
5. Whoever Qalandars play as emerging selected from their PDP
6. Asad Shafiq
7. Khurram Manzoor
8. Ahmed Shehzad
Dare I say that Sarfaraz should handover wicket keeping duties to Azam Khan and become a mentor/assistant coach while Kamran Akmal should also now be let go in favor of some foreign A-lister wicket-keeping batsman.
International wishlist for me (and yes I know it's hypothetical and hard to get but anyway)
DeKock. Rabada. Nortje. FaF. AB. Roy. Bairstow. Stokes. Moeen. Sterling. Butler. Shakib. Saif. Sandip. Rashid. Nabi. Lockie. Munro. Russel. Pollard. Smith. Williamson. Hales. Jordan. Archer. Jamieson. Glenn Philips.
I think the Platinum slot pays 250K USD right now, having three international players and raising the cap to 350K USD may attract some of these players if they aren't already busy in the international schedule.
The local players that I want to see include but not limited to
Agha Salman
Sajjid Khan
Abrar Ahmed
Zahid Mehmood
Danish Aziz
Hassan Khan
Mohammad Imran
Shahnawaz Dahani
Bangalzai
I don't want to see players like Saud, Omair, & a few other test prospects included in PSL because it'll just ruin their chances for test selection. I do feel that all the players who aren't selected in the PSL should get some kind of financial reward from the profit that the league earns to maintain a sense of parity within the domestic scene. Three extra bonus salaries could be a start and it'll just create a healthier environment within the domestic pool.
Also as stated above, it'd be enormous to see Muhammad Wasim coach a Franchise. Let's just say that he moves to Islamabad United and replaces the current incumbent there and presides over the squad selection process, he can have something like this in his playing eleven after all the retentions, etc.
1. DeKock (k)
2. Haider Ali
3. Hussain Talat
4. Shadab (c)
5. Russel
6. Agha Salman
7. Asif Ali
8. Imad
9. Nortje
a. Akif (emerging)
b. Rauf
This is a pretty solid team and will challenge most teams in PSL and any other league that is being played around the world.
Azaadi. InshAllah.

agree to this but Kamran and Sarfraz would never ever ever do that...
don't think we will get A-Rates players coming in just yet.. maybe in a couple of seasons yes but not just yet. Likes of Stokes, Rabada, Smith, Warner, Williamson DeCock are a bit difficult to rope in ... rest will come sooner..

Considering how generally dumb the selection committee, I don't think I'd want to see Shakeel selected, perform poorly in T20 which is not his format anyways and then get disregarded or Tests/ODI's because he is "out of form" or not being good because he didn't play well in T20's.

I honestly don't want many Australian players because of the time zone difference anyway. No Australian who doesn't have ties with Pakistan is going to wake up in the middle of the night to see Qalandar vs. Gladiators match. Super crazy fans will find ways to keep tabs on the tournament regardless of the presence of the Australian contingent. English A-listers like Stokes and Butler may be hard to rope in, but South Africans can be lured in if the package is right. Faf came to play just a single game so it means they can be managed if they are provided with the right package.
My drift is basically about increasing wages to attract top talent and limiting the extent of foreigners in teams to ensure that the Pakistani population also feels connected to the identity of their local teams. Players are emerging from Larkana, Dadu, Qilla Abdullah, and Kurram agency so it's high time to build these players as stars and spread the game far and wide in Pakistan along with creating a new audience. Bismillah, Bangalzai, Akhtar playing in Gladiators and a free-to-air deal with PTV so the games are broadcast in the entirety of the province has the potential to inspire the next generation of kids to take up cricket along with an indigenous organic long-term source of revenue for PCB.
PSL is a product of Pakistan for the Pakistani audiences and that's what we should plan for. It may not make thousands of millions but it may provide sustainable income along with rekindling the interest of cricket in the nation and that should be the true aim for PCB.
Azaadi. InshAllah.

Completely agree. Must also ensure we secure Samdeep Lamichhane, Rashid Khan, and Shakib and/or Tamim. That should be enough to pull in entire countries.
Those 4 are very high-value players in terms of broadcasting. Once they have been secured, rest should be the actual world class folks from England, South Africa especially.
I am sure Nortje, Rabada, Archer would be very, very interested in being mentored by Wasim Akram or Shoaib Akhtar, on top of the pay package which would be enhanced by having 3 international players instead of 4 like you mentioned. Our pay package should easily be second best in the world behind IPL.
Imagine a Quetta attack of Hasnain, Naseem, and Archer. Or a Qalandars attack of Shaheen, Nortje, Rauf, and Dilbar!
I’m sure that we can begin luring better batting prospects as well starting with PSL 6. Need to upgrade on the current stock.

Lahore qalandars should drop fakhar shinwari dunk Patel sohail and many more non performers. While dunk and Patel has performed I think they will not perform in the next season while LQ should retain Weiss shaheen dilbar and start the team from there having proper spinners and batsmen plus a local wicket keeper

We are actually a decent T20 team and I'm confident we will remain so going forward.
Need an opener for Babar, ideally someone who can take advantage of the PP overs. Also would like another middle order hitter to emerge. Kushdil looks promising but would like another option . Also need a specialist spinner as the next World T20 is in India. Shadab and Imad are locks for T20s, so need 1 more spinner for Indian conditions.

Look out for Ahmed Safi, played last year but he seems to have some momentum behind him - expect a breakout PSL if Islamabad retains him and plays him over Zafar Gohar.
