IMO kohli is in decline although he is still great but he hasn't scored a single hundred in all formats since the day night test vs Bangladesh at Eden Gardens.
Smith is a different beast when it comes to test cricket he will definitely end up scoring the most hundreds.
As far as Williamson is concerned in my opinion he is massively overrated, he is a home bully where he has has piled up runs against poor opponents like Pak, WI etc

Very hard to call.
Smith is ahead of the others in every aspect ont est cricket but between him and Kohli it can be down to who plays the longer from here on.
Williamson will struggle to be the one just because of the number of tests he is going to get.
Root, even with a lesser ratio can also be the one, at that rate, at the same age, he can have as many hundreds as Smith and Kohli.
Really hard to call here...

King Kohli.
The other 3 are playing for themselves.
King Kohli has the weight of Indian expectations on his shoulders.
Whole the others will be seen as champions with 35-40 test centuries, Virat Kohli will not be soared by Indians if he retired without at least bagging #2 spot among all time test centuries makes.
Yes, for the record, King Kohli is forgiven if he fails to dethrone Tendulkar (GOAT)

Kohli will play longer than Smith and probably score more centuries.
Also TIL Joe Root has played more Tests than Kohli.

I'll say Williamson if he gets adequate number of matches that is. He has been brilliant in the last few years..
But could be anyone. It's very hard to call.

1 Kohli 2. Willamson. Smith is finished fortunately. Both Warner and Smith can only bully poor bowlers plus help by fielders.

Smith is a run machine in tests and his record says that. I feel strange that some think his days are over. Wishful thinking I guess ..

I would have said Williamson but Nz don't play as much as Eng Aus...Ind...
Smithy is a beast too but I think he won't be as successful post 34 35......compare 2 kohli Root

Smith. Kohli is the oldest of the lot and has played the most cricket amongst all 4. Already has 200+ ODI's and around 300 t20is. It's bound to take a toll on him sooner.

God being blinded by bias is so funny. How is Kohli in decline? Even in the only match he played in the Australian series he scored around 70 before being runout.
Williamson has the least chance amongst the four not because he is less talented but because unfortunately NZ play lesser number of tests while India, Aus and Eng plays more tests hence giving the 3 more opportunity to score 100s. Amongst Root, Smith and Kohli it finally boils down to who plays for a longer time. Considering Kohli's fitness he stands the most likely to do it.

A difficult question to answer but here are their ages:
Kohli 32 years 81 days
Smith 31 years 237 days
Kane 30 years 170 days
Root 30 years 26 days

The number of tests that Australia plays in a year and the current form factor suggests that it is most likely to be Steve Smith. Kohli (to me) somehow seems to have lost his purple patch where he was scoring big runs in a consistent manner across formats (hope he proves me wrong, though).

Kohli/Williamson if they play more tests at home. HTBs
Root all the way, and away!
-
6th February 2021, 20:15 #32
Root needed this patch.
17 hundreds in 97 tests didn't really looked great. But with these consecutive big hundreds, he has made up for all the previous deficits.
In terms of tons, he will not go past all the three as this purple patch will end soon. But he has proved that he is naturally a 50 averaging batsman and belong to elite club.
The order now is Smith > Kohli > Root > Williamson.

Kohli would have an advantage of playing longer than others as SENA teams usually dont keep out-of-form players for so long in the team.

Kohli ia on decline
And mark my words , with paternity and knowing him as an individual, he will.continue to be on slight decline with mind also occupied between family values and the sport
However ,a declining kohli os still better than 95 percent of current crop of batsmen from across the globe , just that he wont be the GOAT he once used to be !!
