    Simpsons isn't a "cartoon"

Its a grown-up, proper, high-quality satire on the state of modern life. The fact that its animated is neither here nor there.

100% agreed. I was a big fan (not anymore) during mid 80's to early 90's for Tom n Jerry but the show has become too boring these days.

Yeh, well done - blame the show!

Ermm... maybe... just maybe... you've become older? And are no longer 5 - 12 years old, the show's target demographic?!

I guess I didn't make my points clear. Tom n Jerry I am talking about was the ones made during 60's and 70's but got telecasted only after mid 80's in National television of India. Whereas these days Tom n Jerry shows that are shown in Cartoon Network are the ones made in recent past that means post 2000(totally killing the characterization of Tom n Jerry) These are the ones which I said I don't like.

IMO, Cartoons of 60's 70's and 80's still rule compare to these cheap remakes.

    Do anime count?

If they don't, my favourites would be - Dexter's Lab, Johnny Quest, Scooby Doo and Justice League.

If they do count, I'd rate Naruto, Dragonball Z, Death Note, Naruto, Cowboy Bebop over all the previous ones.

If all animated series count, then, Southpark and Simpsons win hands down.

    Buzz Lightyear of Star Command.

I used to like that one, as well. There was this show called Recess which was nice. Shin Chan is a show that I find funny, even now.

In my opinion the best cartoon would be out of X-Men, Dexter's Lab, Pokemon or Courage the Cowardly Dog

love the way you said are instead of were.......

seems like tom & jerry were particular faves....

Why does everyone think that was the case?

    Dexters Labroratory and Johnny Bravo.

Pop Culture for kids and adults alike.

You can see how Family Guy/American Dad/ Cleveland creator Seth Mcfarlane started out in those.

Count Duckula too was surreal for children.

There was this cartoon, with two bears or something, and they used to fly a sea plane , one big and little guy and there was a racoon and stuff.

I loved that show, can anyone please tell me the name?

There are sooo many of them. But Johnny Quest surely tops the list, followed by Wacky Races!

Others that I used to like:
    Scooby Doo
    Popeye
    Tom & Jerry
    SWAT Cats
    Looney Tunes
    Captain Planet
    Duck Tales
    Andy Panda
    Dungeons & Dragons

Cartoons that I HATE: Johnny Bravo, Sheep in the big city and Ed, Edd n Eddy
