Anybody can have a good day in T20 on these 50 meter boundaries. Wont surprise me if he makes a quick fire 30.

It shows how far behind we are from the rest of the cricket world that we have selected someone who is obviously so far below the accepted standards of fitness that it is embarrassing. Even the commentators are fitter than this guy.

Leisurely warm-up ahead of his debut today for Azam.

Seemed to be concentrating on the surroundings and calmly taking in what others were doing.

He is a tullah so it wouldn't surprise me if he gets a low score.

Pak is really desperate and need someone at 6.

His size makes a mockery of the Sport called Cricket. For years critics have been pointing towards Ranatunga and Inzamam as evidence of Cricket having no fitness standards now we have Azam Khan to show who is even worse in size.

Not a good start in the field for Azam. Simple piece of fielding - misfield, costs a run.

I was reading on this forum last PSL how he has lost considerable weight in last year and while still not fit it’s a vast improvement.

For anyone a debut is an occasion of great nerves. Azam Khan did well on his debut. Lay off him.

There was no evidence his weight had any impact on his fielding or batting.

I liked Azam Khan, he was running hard in whatever 5-6 balls he was out there, he was good in the field, never looked like his weight is stopping him from the good work... Looked like he was trying hard to prove he belongs. Loved it.

I like people with passion, hunger to do well, desire to prove people wrong. Azam might have been bullied by many in the past for his weight, that may well drive him, motivate him to prove haters wrong.

I'm a fitness freak myself, but I don't think anyone should be judged based on anything other than their performance on the field. Bullying people on weight, color, race or anything is simply not on with me.

Keyboard warriors who are putting down a kid (one of their own) on his debut. Shameful.
Agreed. The fat shaming here is horrendous but I wouldn't expect anything else from our fans. He clearly must have some ability to have been chosen for such a series, and tbh he ran faster than the likes of Imad between the wickets. The kid was darting back and forth. Cricket *is* a different sport than football, etc., let's stop pretending like it's similar in terms of its demands. And sometimes other skills can outweigh the the need to have a chiseled athlete. Shane Warne wasn't particularly fit, and even today we have the example of Rahkeem Cornwall for West Indies. More than likely Azam won't last long, but who else does Pak have in its abysmal middle order that they haven't tried already 700 times? Might as well give him a go and see what he might do, at least.

No need for intense cardio, moderate paced cardio with the aim of increasing working capacity (fitness) over time is what is needed. As a professional sportsman, Azam can do a minimum of 1hr Incline Walking on a treadmill. Set the incline to 15 and start off at a speed of 4.5km/h, progressively overload and within a few weeks he will be burning around 800 Calories/hour.

Add to that a small deficit of 100-300 Calories and some weight training, he will be in shape within 12 months.

Fat shaming is good... issue is not eveyone is mentally strong enough to overcome their food addiction and change their life style..

I thought the same as you, but Azam will never succeed as an international cricket (maybe the off innings) because of one main reason.

He does not have the drive. When the ODI domestic cup was happening, he started to get in some form and was building up to play longer innings. This was great for his development. However he left in the middle to go and play t10. Absolutely unforgivable.

It’s not like he needed the money either. By going for the t10 he showed he does not have the foresight to plan his career.

    He will not succeed.

So many deserving players being ignored in domestic cricket for this guy

I wonder how people like Azam and Moin khan sleep at night knowing he is only playing due to nepotism.

I know he had to go for it, but that shot was embarrassing - it even raised a few laughs in the press box here.

You would need to have some serious talent to justify being that fat and expect to be picked for your country. I've seen him in the PSL and now for Pakistan, and he hasn't shown any genuine talent at all. Unless it's eating pies.

How are they impact players? If they are impact players then Pakistan can't even beat Namibia let alone India, NZ.

Even in PSL he's bang average. Out of 20 innings he has done well in only about 5 of them. or 6 at most. He's only in the team because of corruption.

Its an embarrassment, you could hear the commies laughing too in the background seeing the state of him trying to play shots.

Have the impact of more often than not helping their team lose.

Something that's quite interesting is how the commentators keep on saying he's been picked after a great PSL.

He scored 174 runs in 10 innings. That's hardly amazing stats.

Sharjeel is not exactly the fittest though is he?

And how does replacing a middle batsmen with a opener make any sense?

Mohammad Shahzad from Afghanistan was fat, but he was still Afghanistan best batsman. And even he was not this fat. He had a big belly, but that was is. Azam has fat all over his body. Big ***, Big fat legs, Big tummy. Fat on his bag. etc. etc.

Surely should have come on before Fakhar and Hafeez. What's the point of sending in a youngster when you need 110-odd runs off 40-odd deliveries, especially with no cushion of a proper batsman underneath. Let him get his eye in and give him the license to thrill, rather than leave in him in a precarious position where he's the last recognized batsman, but still has to hit out from the first ball.

I'm sure this was because they thought that Pakistan was within distance of RR, so send-in Hafeez to 'stabilise' after Maqsood's wicket.

Too much rigidity and static-ness from PCT's management. Need to be braver.

You can not spot reduce body fat or decide where your body stores fat. The simple fact of the matter is that Azam Khan is at such a high body fat percentage, that his body has a high amount of fat all over it.

Hard to get a handle on this double edged sword
