The only reason for there to be a distinction between the PCB Chairman and the Chief Executive is if the Chairman has a hands-off and ceremonial role which doesn't necessitate day-to-day operational and strategic oversight of each department in the organization. The objectives and responsibilities are usually blurred and corporate governance policies are the main reason behind an explicit distinction in the positions.

If Rameez is prepared to take on an activist and hands-on role in the PCB, and by all accounts he is, then the Chief Executive post is redundant.

Ramiz is on a cost cutting freeze. He has reviewed salaries being paid to officials and everyone is being asked to justify their positions. Having a Chairman and a CEO seperately also leads to higher expenses.

He's only following the instructions from the PM's office, given that the mantra of cost-cutting flows from the top. I don't think any of Rameez's decisions so far merit much criticism.

    Sad really.
We are poor country, so these high paying posts get highlighted easily
But the problem lies with the substitutes of some good workers/players; what we bring are totally corrupt, nepotistic and incompetent individuals

Ok but then when some in PCB over the years have had huge salaries and wasted a lot of money, that was brushed under the carpet.

I don’t think Wasim has the widespread media backing across Pakistan given his “outsider” status. Others are able to get away with terrible performance and bloated salaries without anyone making a peep as long as their wheels are being greased.

People still dont understand; how PCT plays reflects on PCB as well

Although, Wasim Khan thought of good interests for Pakistan cricket by appointing Misbah; it was the dud Misbah who brought all the corruption and nepotism into the team; to the point , that it became so evident that he was playing non performing favorites in the team.. And it was just a matter of time when entire shake up was about to happen, and that is where Ramiz Raja was brought in (So in the name of new leadership and new direction IK got rid of entire combo of Mani, Wasim Khan, Misbah and Waqar. And I am sure this list is incomplete.. one bad tournament for Babar and he will say goodbye to his pathetic captaincy as well)

Because they have strong allies (partners in media, and political circles
I am 100% sure Misbah is one of them.. Days are not far away when we see Misbah at very important post in PCB

    Absolutely.

He was never going to be accepted by most of the media who saw him as an outsider and a threat.

Once he stopped the backhanders and freebies for the media, it was always going to turn ugly for him. But to his credit he stuck to his guns despite all the hate and criticism.

He was getting around Rs 3 million in Salary and Benefits. Ramiz told him that this will be reduced to Rs 1.5 million for the remainder of his tenure, his powers were stripped and Ramiz clearly hinted he would not be extended after February 2022. Don't think he had much of a choice but to just walk away.
