South Africa (190/4) defeat Pakistan (186/6) by six wickets in the warm-up match at Abu Dhabi

So Pakistan can make it 2 in 2 and then go into the India game with confidence.

Easier said than done but they must now play the same XI that will play against India and hope they come out trumps.

    Squads:

Babar Azam (c), Shadab Khan, Asif Ali, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Mohammad Wasim Jr, Shaheen Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, Sarfaraz Ahmed

Temba Bavuma (c), Keshav Maharaj, Quinton de Kock, Bjorn Fortuin, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rassie van der Dussen

Temba captaining a t20 team + opening the inns with qdk is a super comedy

Two of their best t20 batsman fafdup and abdv can walk into this squad and even captain them.

Such a sad state of cricket in SA

If Pakistan bench Haider this game and continues to play Asif Ali then that means Asif gully Ali will play against India and other teams in the main round, Pak are gonna lose it on team sheet paper itself.

Hafeez is not in form, Malik don’t wanna open that at all
Asif Ali to the max can hit 2 sixers, only in pak such players be selected. His fielding lol, such a weak middle order
Actually can write simple program a play a robot in his place so that it can do wat he usually does.

Pakistan has good squad batting 1-2 players who I think shouldn’t be selected but they won’t select the right team 11 and will fail to utilise their players effectively. This is where they will lose and I won’t be surprised if they are the first team to exit early.

Been saying this for a while, need to stop with all this giving a send off to seniors rubbish and focus on winning the tournament. Pakistan is going to make this their 2019 WC campaign again, play the useless players in Malik and leave out guys like Haider and Nawaz who performed in their own right for Northern.

Seriously??? Are we all gonna fall for the Shoaib Malik con again?

Haider is your natural number 3, play him at the position he performed well in during the National T20.

I think we must give a chance to Nawaz tomorrow as well. Seeing as this is a warm up game my XI for tomorrow:

    1. Rizwan
    2. Babar
    3. Haider
    4. Nawaz
    5. Hafeez
    6. Fakhar/Asif Ali
    7. Shadab
    8. Imad

Batting is still a concern for sure current team is not capable of chase down anything above 160 and if babar didn't click we might not get 150 batting first. I don't see anything special from hafeez and malik either.

What we need to focus on from over 7th to 15th and make sure you don't loose much wickets and keep scoreboard pressure on opponent but once again i don't trust on our middle order and we have no solid hitter in middle order except asif 'hack' ali.

Rest Fakhar. He's definitely playing against India. Play Hafeez, Malik, Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Nawaz, shadab, Pick 4 out of these 6 based on performance.

Some interesting dilemmas for the PAK team.

Does Fakhar stay at No. 3 or does Haider get a go at the same slot? No point dropping FZ against SAF though. If the permutation is to be tried then FZ can be tried lower down the order to see the inflection point.

Rauf ended up going for runs although this was partly due to an expensive last over. Given Raufís general tendency to concede runs and his inability to make up for them with the bat / on the field does it merit only playing Hasan and Shaheen as pacers?

If so, Nawaz can be played in addition to Imad and Shadab and not at the expense of one of them. This could potentially allow PAK to have a 5 man spin attack, albeit all of them bits and pieces instead of those capable of making incisions.

I would also ensure Malik bowls at least 1 over in the SAF game if not 2. His presence in the XI is part merited by the bowling option he brings to the table. He wonít bowl more than 2 in a game unless it is turning square but he needs to be primed to bowl 1. If he is given the ball during group / CWC games without this practice he may end up conceding 15+ in just one over with half trackers.

I would not tinker with the opening combination against SAF. I would also **absolutely not** play Asif, Sarfraz etc. I would only use the warm-up to play people who really merit a place and mostly tinker with the order of the XI instead of its constituents.

    Rizwan
    Babar
    Fakhar / Haider
    Malik (prefer him at 4)
    Hafeez
Haider / Fakhar (the one not at No. 3)
    Imad / Nawaz
Nawaz / Imad (the one not at No. 7)
    Shadab
    Hasan / Wasim Jr
    Shaheen

7 bowling options including Malik, each capable of bowling a minimum of 1 over. Mostly good to decent fielders.

Most likely same team. Babar needs to retire after 30 runs and let middle order get exposed, whatís the rule on the xi?

Can u field 13 a side per innings.

If yes then it would be good to give Haider and Asif a go after Malik and Hafeez.

Im sure they will lose to India badly , with zero performance from Asif Ali and some catches dropped by him + poor fielding in the deep.. then they will bring haider ali

Yes Misbah left a legacy of playing till 50 years

Dhoni debuted after Hafeez and Malik , achieved more than these two , retired and now in as mentor speaks volume..

Just play this 11 , and this is the best 11 from the squad

    Babar
    Rizwan
    Fakhar
Haider (drop Asif Ali, no idea why he is in the squad first of all)
    Malik
    Hafeez
    Shadab
Nawaz (Compared to Imad , he is a better spinner both in PP and out of PP + in form batter)
    Hasan Ali
    Haris
    Shaheen

There is no Mickey Arthur to drop Malik on performance basis and play Haris Sohial from where the team transformed into unbeatable in 2019 WC

I dont think Saqi will do that, + Haydos seems to me as if he is there for a paid holiday, fold his arms at the back and watch them practice.. Sit back and watch the game for free sipping chai..

They are good. Nortje was one of the best bowler in the IPL. Just that Rabada was off color. When he gets it right they are a top bowling unit. It is their batting that is crap.

Not worth to watch bro. Hafeez and Malik playing in warm ups. Haider and Asif ali carrying drinks. Babar opening even after hitting 50 in last warm up game. scoring @6 runs/over.

Pakistan has the most boring opening pair in T20s. We should have included Sharjeel. Someone like him or zazai for AFG are gamechangers.

If i were part of SA think tank i would load the side with gun bowlers. No compromise there. Make sure all the games are low scoring games and chase it with conventional cricket.

Rabada is a good bowler but not that great in this format. Ngidi is not very good at all. They are a decent unit overall but not outstanding in any particular discipline.

We are good against Spin is a myth now.
Only Fakhar can hit them for sixes that too if he's in form.

Why are you all complaining now?

I’ve been screaming at the top of my lungs about how a Pakistan are getting their team combination and especially their opening pair completely wrong since Misbah took over! He created the Mess of locking Rizwan and Babar as openers whilst not finding a solution to our middle order woes!

We can only fluke this World Cup, not truly win it!

If Fakhar wants to attack, he needs to do so reasonably.

Got a six, look to move the field around and rotate strike.

You're right. Nortje is really good. Maharaj as well. Good to see Rabada back in form. With Shamsi and Ngidi, the bowling attack looks potent. Batting is a concern, though.

If he stop there is no one who can hit spinners out. We are lucky that he is back in form. Otherwise would be hard time dealing with spinners.
