Lahore, 16 January 2022: Two-time former champions Pakistan will take on Zimbabwe in the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup West Indies 2022 opener on Monday at the Diego Martin Sporting Complex in Trinidad and Tobago.
Pakistan will then meet Afghanistan on Thursday at the Brian Lara Cricket Ground, while their last Group C fixtures will be against Papua New Guinea (PNG) on Saturday at the Queens Park Oval.
If Pakistan top’s Group C, their Super League quarter-final will be on Friday, 28 January, at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground against the side that finishes second in Group D, which comprise West Indies, Australia, Sri Lanka and Scotland.

I only saw a little bit of the innings and i was really disappointed with the lack in intent. I know these young men are under immense pressure because one good innings could get PSL contracts etc and a few bad ones could be the end. But even taking that into consideration, it left me a little empty. I have seen the scorecard since and he has Haseeb has got some runs , so maybe he was playing risk averse cricket and we will see the real player start to play.

Some old school cricket is being played by this team. Haseeb at one point was around 20 runs for 60 balls and the team essentially going at 3 runs an over before picking up the rate.
That is 90's level approach of eating countless amount of dot balls, being "settled" in before being aggressive. It's worked out in this case but what happens if he gets out while at 20 runs on 60 balls? Irfan Khan played quick from the get-go which is nice to see.

agree with you, i watched the game from the 12 over till 50th, he started off way too slow, took him around 65 runs/113balls to start attempting to go for boundaries - assuming he needed to take his time due to new pitch and not making many runs in the asia cup - finished decently he.
I was really impressed with irfan khan - literally played his whole innings a run a ball - didn't let his strike rate go below 85%, nearly always stayed at 95%.
Good cameo by qasim akram - lucky Maaz Sadaqat didnt run him out , good hitting by Zeeshan Zameer

Haseebullah posts highest score of World Cup so far in Pakistan win
Pakistan’s opener Haseebullah put on the highest score of the tournament so far with 135 from 155 balls as he and Irfan Khan combined for a 192-run third-wicket partnership.
Irfan was forced to go for 81 from 77 balls, including eight fours, after being caught by David Bennett off the bowling of Mcgini Dube.
Zimbabwe continued the fightback, led by right-arm seamer Alex Falao, who took the wicket of Haseebullah on his way to five for 58 as Pakistan ended with 315 for nine.
The Chevrons had already produced a score higher than this against Papua New Guinea in their opening game of Group C but faltered in this chase.
Matthew Welch and Steven Saul combined at the top of the order to put on 34 for the first wicket.
The next six wickets fell for 77 runs before a timely partnership of 83 runs between Bennett and Mataranyika gave Zimbabwe a glimmer of hope.
But with Bennett’s dismissal they were left needing 121 runs with only 58 balls remaining, Mataranyika followed his partner back to the hutch two balls later before the final wicket of Mcgini Dube fell to hand Pakistan a convincing 115-run victory.

Pakistan showed their batting strength as they played their opening game in Group C in Guyana, putting on 315 thanks to a Haseebullah Khan century. Zimbabwe fell 116 runs short in the chase despite an 83–run eighth-wicket partnership between Brian Bennett and Tendekai Mataranyika.

Haseebullah looked very limited however he didn't give him wicket away which is always a good thing.
Zeeshan Zameer is very fast and has the X factor.
Pakistan are playing with a batter short.

The inability of our youngsters and senior players to make the most of the death overs while batting in ODI and T-20 Cricket is alarming. Definately agree with the PCB's decision to search for a power hitting coach.
