Afghanistan played so many dots.
If they'd turned them into singles, they would have won this match by now.

why did Qasim Akram give zeeshan(9.5/54-0) more overs than Awais Ali-(9/36-3).
zeeshan bowled poorly today and last game- been expensive compared to others

this team is so boring, saw a bit of the game today, apart from maaz literally 0 flair with the bat.
abdul faseeh looks like he could be a decent long form player, however.

Easily the best/most well-rounded team that's been put out since then, pretty much epitomizes the decline of our cricket between 2014-18 and the improvement we've seen recently.
That 2016 U19 WC squad was an absolute horror show from top to bottom (the captain of that squad doesn't even play domestic anymore). Only Shadab Khan was of international quality, otherwise at best it just produced a few mid-level domestic cricketers (Badar, Zeeshan Malik, Sameen etc). Feel for the likes of Hasan Mohsin and Umair Masood, could have been useful cricketers if we had a better development system at the time.
The 2018 squad had a fantastic pace-bowling attack (the best ever for Pakistan imo) with the bounce of Arshad Iqbal, left arm angle of Shaheen and raw pace of Musa. Unfortunately the batting line-up was one of the worst, right alongside that of 2016. In 2018 we had the reverse situation, with high quality batting (aside from that parchi Fahad Munir), but useless bowling. It's surprising that Wasim Jr made it out as the most successful pacer from that, despite being a pretty average trundler at the time.

Faseeh looked technically correct and agree about maaz. He looks a decent prospect.
The bowling was quite disciplined with not much flair apart from the leftie spinner who looked good
I know you are a spin bowling fan, what did you think of the Afghani spinners? I was blown away by their skillset.

Not ideal from Pakistan but a win is a win.
I don't get why Shehzad isn't given more of a chance with the ball.

they clearly are very developed, its actually amusing that bowling leg spin is pbly the hardest discipline in cricket and they produce world class short format wrist spinners with every group of under 19 players.
nageryalia didn't look all that impressive, noor ahmeds been around the block a fair bit so wasn't surprised to see him bowl well, izharulhaq has a very good release tho, i can see him troubling some international batsmen.

Pakistan qualify for quarter-finals as Afghanistan leave it too late
Pakistan booked their place in the Super League quarter-finals after making it two wins from two with a 24-run victory over Afghanistan.
At the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad, Pakistan skipper Qasim Akram elected to bat first and his side built a solid platform.
Opener Muhammad Shehzad lost his partner Haseebullah Khan for just two but kicked on to make 43 off 51 balls.
Shehzad shared a 60 partnership with No.3 Abdul Faseeh who made 68 off 95 balls with the skipper Qasim adding 38 from No.5.
But when Izharulhaq Naveed, three for 41, removed Faseeh, Pakistan lost three for 11 and were in danger of not having enough runs to defend at 184 for seven.
But Maaz Sadaqat played a gem of an innings with 42 not out off just 37 balls, including seven fours, to drag his side up to 239 for nine from their 50 overs.
Afghanistan got the pace of their innings all wrong in reply, as the top three soaked up far too many balls in pursuit of the target.
It took them 170 balls to bring up 100 runs with Bilal Sayedi, 42 off 81, Nangeyalia Kharote, 12 off 32, and Allah Noor, 28 off 49, all with strike rates under 58.
Despite the slow start, Afghanistan took the contest deep although their innings was characterised by some wild running between the wickets, with three run outs as well as a number of near misses.
Noor Ahmad blasted three sixes to leave his side in with a chance of a shock victory, needing 28 off the last two overs with two wickets in hand.
But when he fell for 29 off just 18 balls to Awais Ali, the pick of the bowlers with three for 36, there was only going to be one winner and after finishing short on 215 for nine, Afghanistan now must prepare for a winner-takes-all clash against Zimbabwe on Saturday.

None of the player looked international material apart from Shehzad and it's baffling he didn't bowl much , Ahmed Khan looks promising with his accuracy and Cool hard hitting but is too slow and short for international level bowling.

Pak bowling attack was toothless. Surprised by the non selection of Faisal Akram.
The captaincy was ridiculous and had no clue on bowler rotation. This team will find it tough going into Quarterfinals with such a toothless attack.
