Is Pakistan heading towards revenge politics?
The reason behind ptis downfall and the opposing parties surviving was the poor performance of pti on the economic front.
Surely, pmlns focus should now be to work on that economic front.
However, it seems as if pmln is gearing up towards taking revenge instead.
FIR against Imran Khan and Sheikh rasheeds family are being files for the Madinah controversy.
Fist fights through political workers have also started
Ary and media getting alot of hate aswell.
While i believe in democracy, what i dont like is when political parties seek to take revenge against each other when the status qou changes

Worst party is PPP and it’s fake Bhuttos who are cooperating with sons of ZAB killer. Really shame what that party has come to, no ghairat left there.
The elections will be arranged sooner than the looters expect. They want to get rid of Imran before that, that’s too late now. He will sweep the elections and then these dakoos should get ready for the proper trials.

The ball is in PDM government's court if the country would head into revenge politics. During PTI tenure, IK didn't interfere in institutions doing their jobs. He was very hands off and didn't even go after the ECP commissioner even when knowing that he's a biased N league crony. If PDM goes after IK unfairly then there's no going back as PTI will retaliate this time.

Actually revenge or vengeful politics is at its worst. Just take example of oil prices. Suppressed by PTI with subsidies through loans taken from friendly countries. Knowing fully well that next govt will have to increase the prices or risk default. Or they have to go and borrow more digging the country further into debt trap. There is no getting out of this.

I am just shocked at how blatantly PDM is doing the exact same thing people despise about them ie revenge politics against IK, PTI and journalists, cracking down on the FIA, NAB, FBR people who were genuinely working to convict them, aayaashee on Pakistani tax payers money again, open blatant nepotism in appointments (officially, unofficially).
They are blatantly giving the message "Gen Bajwa and the Pakistani army is with us for now, jo Ukharna hai, Ukhar ke dekhao"
I have totally lost interest in Pakistani politics and affairs giving how corruptly the NCV saga played out with the establishments and foreign powers help. People have lost faith in Pakistani institutions and the damage resulting from this saga will be long lasting.
This is exactly why investors do not have any long term faith in the country

Failure to cover PM’s Lahore visit costs PTV officials their jobs
ISLAMABAD: The state-run ******tan Television (PTV) has suspended 17 officials for failing to ensure ‘proper’ coverage of PM Shehbaz Sharif’s Lahore visit on the channel last week.
Strangely, the broadcast failure was due to the non-availability of an advanced laptop required to upload the video footage through file transfer protocol (FTP).
The suspended employees, on the other hand, claimed they had been scapegoated by the administration appointed by the previous regime in order to save the bigwigs.
PM Sharif had on April 24 visited Kot Lakhpat Jail and Ramazan Bazaars in Lahore, however, the PTV team, despite prior information failed to cover the events on the spot allegedly owing to non-availability of a properly functional laptop.
As per the standard operating procedures, a VVIP team comprising reporters and producers is responsible for the coverage of the prime minister. The team is equipped with the latest broadcast gadgets, including laptops for live streaming and timely uploading of the footage of any event. The core team is stationed in Islamabad and moves with the PM across the country and abroad.
As per documents available with Dawn, when the PTV Lahore centre was conveyed about the PM’s visit, they informed the PTV headquarters and its director news about the non-availability of an advanced laptop.
Earlier on April 18 also, PTV Lahore had written a letter to the headquarters informing it that they had hired a laptop from a private vendor for the PM’s visit to the city a day ago, as the office did not have one of its own.
The Lahore centre wrote in the letter: “Prime Minister of Pakistan was scheduled to visit Lahore… the Press Information Department demanded an editing team with a laptop along with the news team for timely editing and feeding to the concerned from the spot.”
The letter further stated: “Since we don’t have any laptop editing facility at the Lahore centre, we hired a laptop with the editing facility this time and deputed staff from the centre, but as a permanent arrangement we must own the same facility at the centre.”
Sources in PTV said the Lahore bureau was informed about the PM’s April 24 visit. It once again demanded a laptop, however, the in-charge of reporting as well as current affairs departments of the state-run TV in the capital did not pay any heed and suggested hiring one again.
Sources said the Lahore centre GM was compelled to get his personal laptop from home and hand it over to the VVIP coverage team. After coverage, when the team tried to transmit the footage to the office through FTP, it found the battery of the laptop had drained. Subsequently, instead of the visuals from the spot, PTV covered the event through an audio beeper of the reporter.
Traditionally, the PTV higher management suspended senior officials at the helm of affairs, but this time those removed from office included those from the second and third tiers.
According to the documents, the very next day after the PM’s visit, the PTV administration department on April 25 suspended the VVIP coverage deputy controller, Imran Bashir Khan, and handed over its additional charge to Haroon Elahi, the officiating controller news.
Moreover, Executive Programmes Manager Qaiser Sharif was assigned the additional charge of Lahore centre general manager instead of Saifuddin, and Current Affairs Producer Ishtiaq Ahmed was appointed as the head of current affairs by removing Sohail Ahmed. In addition, the administration suspended various engineers and cameramen over alleged neglect, the documents stated.
PTV spokesman Sohail Bokhari could not be reached for comment.

Actually I think IAJ is absolutely spot on and what he said is very much in line with the thread title.
You speak of democracy and political parties headed towards revenge politics.
But the reality is that the PDM is made up of groups that can hardly be called political parties let alone democratically elected parties.

Investigating those that were named in the biggest leak of the century (Panama Papers) by the organization that is responsbile for accountability is not revenge. It means they were just doing their jobs. However trying to dismantle that same organization after you're in power is revenge

Its better if you follow news if you want to partake in political discussions.
Nab exists for political revenge. The chairman was suppose to be selected with both pm and opposition leader agreeinf who they want, but that did not happen.
Also nab does not investigate the govt, its always used by the govt to investigate the opposition.
NAB is basically a revenge institute

The cases that AZ and NS faced were created by each other to blackmail each other. They could have created a body with real teeth when they had the 2/3 Rd majority but they didnt because they just wanted a laundry/laundering mat.
Why don't you say what you actually want to say, and that is that they should loot without any fear.

Current NAB Chairman, Justice Javed Iqbal (R) was appointed by PMLN and PPP
Since you won't believe me and love your news, here's a news reference for you:
"Javed Iqbal was appointed during the last PMLN government with the help of an influential ‘uncle’ of Suleman Shehbaz and Bilawal Bhutto. The influential uncle had approached Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari to get Javed Iqbal appointed as NAB chairman.
Later, through a common friend, the then prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was also approached for the appointment of Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal.
The common friend had even offered that the retired justice would be ready to submit to the then premier his signed resignation letter even before his appointment to assure that he was trustworthy.
However, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had responded to the common friend that he did not require a resignation letter and decided in favour of Javed Iqbal’s appointment. It is, however, not confirmed whether the common friend was pushing for Javed Iqbal’s appointment on his own or was asked by the retired judge to do so.
Interestingly, the then opposition leader Khursheed Shah was personally not in favour of appointing the retired Supreme Court judge as head of the state’s top anti-corruption body but he had no choice because of Asif Ali Zardari’s vote for Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal."

Filing blasphemy charges against Imran and other PTI members is beyond condemnable. This is getting beyond ridiculous now. God forbid this will be insanity if blasphemy charges are being filed against the most popular leader currently in the country.
Also these blasphemy charges can only be charged with Government people involved as these are not registered on normal public complaints.

People are actually naive enough to think this would have played out any different? These crooks don't care about you or the country. They are not trying to save the economy. They are vultures who took advantage of multiple global crises cascading on an economy already on life support to get into power. Everything they do now will be to consolidate their power through any means.
Funny seeing Miftah and co criticize oil subsidies every day as a revenge tactic. Where was he when PMLN subsidized the rupee? That was far worse as it subsidized every import not just a single sector for a few months paid from excess tax collection while a longer term discounted rate was being sorted out. Was it revenge politics then?
Everything IK stated these crooks will do has been spot on. The best part is the crooks have screwed themselves over due to their own greed and incompetence. The global economy is not going to improve in the next year. Had they just waited, PTI would have continued to take the blame for poor economic performance and PDM would have easily won in the next elections. Now PDM will continue to be completely exposed. They have unified the nation behind IK far better than anything he could have done himself.

Bro, history of NAB ordinances is regularly covered by the news, and you're not the only one aware of it. You read the news but you just refer to selective parts that suit your agenda.
In your post above you failed to mention that the ordinances were passed democratically through the National Assembly - the same National Assembly which you constantly harper about that PDM had majority since 2018.
Also NAB had cases against Shehbaz, did you want IK to consult with the very man that NAB is investigating?

Hanif Abbasi announces Rs50,000 reward for bringing Rashid’s wig
By News DeskMay 02, 2022
ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Hanif Abbasi has made a weird offer that if anyone would bring former interior minister Sheikh Rashid’s wig to him, he will pay him Rs50,000.
Speaking at a press conference in Rawalpindi, the PMLN leader said the Masjid-e-Nabvi’s incident was unfortunate and planned jointly by former PM Imran Khan and Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, adding that he would never talk to anyone in the mosque. He said Imran Khan, Sheikh Rashid and his nephew were involved in the planning. Abbasi said he would contest Sheikh Rashid at all the political forums, and wherever he would want to contest elections with him, he was ready to challenge him, saying wherever Rashid would go, he would face public wrath.
Hanif Abbasi said the PTI workers abused Marriyum Aurangzeb and Shahzain Bugti on Masjid-e-Nabvi premises, suggesting the arrest of all culprits involved in the incident after registering FIRs. He said it was not the issue of Nawaz Sharif or Shehbaz Sharif but the sanctity of Masjid-e-Nabvi was breached and all the culprits should appropriately be punished.

But this is Pakistan! In Pakistan there is no conventional politics i.e ideologies, left/right split, economic vision etc. It's all mud slinging, vilifying, shouting and insulting.
Revenge politics is not revenge politics here, its standars fare.

Sindh opposition leader Haleem Adil Sheikh’s house raided at night
KARACHI: The Anti-Encroachment Cell (AEC) of the Sindh government and police conducted a raid on the residence of Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh in the small hours of Sunday morning and detained his one relative following registration of two cases pertaining to ‘terrorism’ and ‘land grab’ in Gulshan-i-Maymar.
A Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf spokesperson, Saddam Kumbhar, told Dawn that both the police and AEC officials raided the residence of Mr Sheikh located in the Defence Officers Housing Society at around 12.30am.
The opposition leader was not present. The raiding party was told that the PTI leader had already obtained bail before arrest from court and shown the papers, upon which the raiding party left the premises.
However, at around 2.30am, they again came and took away his relative, identified as Ali, and his whereabouts were not known, he added.
He said that the Gulshan-i-Maymar police had on Saturday registered two cases against the opposition leader pertaining to terrorism and land grabbing.
Mr Sheikh already got bail before arrest in the terror case.
An officer said that the AEC had taken the action to get official land vacated from land grabbers on city outskirts. However, the elements present there told the AEC that the land belonged to Mr Sheikh of the PTI.
Later, the opposition leader said in a statement that a ‘fake’ case had been registered against him in which his brother, Aleem Adil Sheikh, was nominated.
He said that “such high-handed tactics of the PPP government” would not deter them and they would continue their fight against ‘the power mafia’ along with Imran Khan.

Islamabad Police conducted a search operation around former prime minister Imran Khan’s residence in Bani Gala following death threats to the PTI chairman, Geo News reported Saturday.
A heavy contingent of police including the bomb disposal squad conducted the search operation around the ousted prime minister’s residence.
The PTI workers staying around Bani Gala came out of their tents and started shouting slogans against the incumbent government when the police party came.
Meanwhile, in Karachi, police raided PTI MNA Alamgir Khan’s house, however, he was not present at home.
PTI leaders protested the police raid and termed police action a revengeful tactic against the party.
Following police action, PTI leaders reached Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station and submitted an application against the raid.
‘Sindh police have become military wing of PPP’
Strongly condemning the police raid, former federal minister for maritime affairs Ali Haider Zaidi said that the Sindh police have become a military wing of PPP.
He said police violated the 'sanctity of the four walls' by entering the residence of a public representative at midnight. The PTI leader warned that the Sindh government would be held accountable soon.
Criticising the “imported” government, Zaidi said that the police should besiege the Chief Minister’s House if they wanted to arrest the culprits.
Referring to the rising crime rate in the city, the former minister said that the Sindh police have failed to detain the robbers and street criminals in the port city and on the other hand the force is harassing the noble citizens

According to details, Lahore police personnel have been mobilized to stop the participants of the Azadi Long March from reaching Islamabad.
During the attempt to stop PTI senior leader, Yasmeen Rashid, police also insulted the other women in the former Punjab minister’s car, while masked men also jumped on Rashid’s car and started attaching with sticks.
Dr. Yasmeen Rashid said in her statement that the police officers were very abusive, first, the male officers tried to drag her out of the car, and then tried to snatch the car key while twisting her hands.
The PTI leader said that the police tried to arrest her, all the windows of her car were smashed, in which her hand was injured.
Dr. Rashid clarified that the Azadi Long March will be successful in any case.
Amid blockades, crackdowns and shelling against party workers across the country, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned long march announced by former prime minister Imran Khan has begun and is currently on its way to Islamabad.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker Shabbir Qureshi was arrested over the charges of sexually assaulting a woman in Karachi, Express News reported on Sunday.
Confirming the development, Karachi police chief Javed Alam Odho said that the arrest was made on Saturday night from outside the residence of the PTI MPA in Clifton.
Shabbir was arrested on the charges of sexually assaulting a woman, the police official said, adding that the PTI member of the Sindh Assembly had allegedly called the woman to offer her a job and sexually assaulted her. A case against him has been registered in the SITE police station.
Meanwhile, in a video statement, MPA Shabbir's wife said that her husband was arrested by the police as he was on his way to offer Fajr prayer in the mosque, adding that she got to know about the arrest when she checked the CCTV footage after waking up at 8am.
Protesting the arrest, the PTI termed the move "political victimisation". Former Sindh governor Imran Ismail, leader of the opposition in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh and other PTI leaders reached Shabbir's residence.

A scuffle between lawmakers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party took an ugly turn on Monday when a male PPP MPA was accused of snatching the dupatta of a female PTI lawmaker Dua Bhutto.
Today, another PTI lawmaker told Sindh Assembly Deputy Speaker Rehana Leghari that her "lack of action" over the incident had brought dismay to the women MPAs.
"We were hoping that you, being a woman, would take due action against the snatching of a woman's dupatta during the session," Rabia Azfar Nizami told Leghari.
She added, "We wanted no inquiry; all we wanted was action from you against it, but we are utterly dismayed."
The deputy speaker tried to explain to Nizami that it wasn't too late and that she shouldn't be dismayed, but the MPA wasn't impressed and maintained her stance.
Addressing the provincial assembly two days ago, Dua Bhutto, who is also the wife of Opposition Leader Haleem Adil Sheikh, took the PPP lawmakers to task for allegedly manhandling her a day earlier.
“My dupatta was taken off, only those who do not respect their own mothers or sisters can do this,” she said.
At this, the female PPP MPAs rose to their seats to intervene, at which Dua asked the deputy speaker to make the "goats" silent.
Another PPP lawmaker then asked for an apology from Dua, who continued her criticism of the party's leaders. Leghari, after sending a warning to the female lawmaker to not name a particular party, switched her microphone off.

The Sindh Assembly Leader of Opposition and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Haleem Adil Sheikh was taken into custody on Wednesday by officers dressed in plain clothes and transferred to an unknown location.
A video of the arrest is making rounds on social media.
In the CCTV camera footage, the PTI leader can be seen walking with men dressed in civilian clothes.
According to reports, Shiekh has not yet been informed of his arrest by the Lahore police. His daughter, Ayesha Haleem Adil Sheikh has claimed that the police have not taken the family's concerns seriously.
The PTI has alleged that he was “abducted” in the early hours of Wednesday morning but no further information has been provided about his whereabouts.
Earlier in June, the leader had also expressed fears that a conspiracy is being hatched to kill him and had also written a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial highlighting a “grave threat” to his life, allegedly by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership.
Earlier, senior journalist and Express News anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan, the most vocal critic of the ruling coalition, had been arrested from Islamabad Toll Plaza late on Tuesday disregarding the fact that a court has already granted him a pre-arrest bail.

Imran Riaz, who is currently associated with Express News, had been implicated in a slew of cases that he says were motivated by his refusal to “stop speaking the truth”.
It is also pertinent to note that the PTI has been leading a vicious campaign against the security establishment since the toppling of its government in April this year through a vote of no-confidence. However, Imran Khan claims it was a conspiracy orchestrated and bankrolled by the United States.
Imran himself and his party blamed the military and have mounted a vociferous campaign – especially on social media – to directly point the accusatory finger at some senior officials.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader (PTI) was taken into custody by police personnel in plain clothes and taken to an unknown location.
Subsequently, Haleem's personnel secretary filed a petition in the LHC through advocate Amir Saeed Rawn and made the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, the provincial government and others respondents.
The petition maintained that no information was provided by the police regarding why and under what charges Haleem was taken into custody and the opposition leader had not been brought before any court of law.
He beseeched the court to direct the IGP to produce the PTI leader before the court after retrieving him from police custody.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has strongly condemned a "raid" at its Lahore PP168 constituency candidate Malik Nawaz Awan’s office that occurred late Tuesday night.
Video footages of the incident have since surfaced on social media where police can be seen arresting personnel at the event.
The PTI Senator Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry termed the event “police harassment” of the candidate and urged the officials “not to become personal slaves of Hamza Shehbaz” – the current Punjab chief minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader.
Senior PTI leader Dr Yasmin Rashid echoed the same concerns, as she called on the Punjab police to “stop open bullying”.
Another PTI leader Andalib Abbas has expressed concerns that “police are sabotaging peaceful elections by bullying [PTI]”.
Meanwhile, party senior leader Farrukh Habib has alleged that the incident occurred as a result of “fears of defeat” on part of the provincial government.
“Police cannot demoralise PTI workers with its clever tactics,” added the PTI information secretary for Central Punjab.
“IG Punjab should take immediate notice and release the guards and marriage hall owner immediately,” said Senator Ijaz Chaudhry.
The by-elections in 20 Punjab constituencies are to be held on July 17.
‘No raid at PTI candidate’s office’
Contrary to the PTI’s claims, the Lahore Police have denied the incident saying: “Police did not raid any PTI candidate's office.”
“Private armed men were accompanied by gunmen from another province in a corner meeting with the PTI candidate Malik Nawaz Awan in a private market,” said the Lahore Police Operations Wing spokesperson.
The spokesperson added that the “use of private gunmen in the election campaign is a clear violation of the Electoral Code of Conduct” and therefore the “private gunmen” were arrested by the police.
The police shared video footage of a private gunman, claiming to be from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to corroborate their claims.
According to police sources, “supporters of Malik Nawaz Awan clashed with the police during their attempt to arrest private gunmen.”
Furthermore, the police assert that “the impression of a raid on the PTI office is not correct. The action was taken due to the presence of armed men.”

ACE to grill Sheikh Rashid in govt fee scandal
LAHORE: The Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has launched an investigation against Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid in connection with a government fee scam and summoned him for Friday (tomorrow).
Mr Rashid, who is considered close to ousted premier Imran Khan, is accused of misappropriation of millions of rupees on account of fee in the sale of state land to Life Residencia Islamabad Housing Society.
The ACE has also summoned the administration of the housing society for investigation.
According to a call-up notice, the former interior minister has been directed to appear before investigators at the ACE headquarters in Lahore on July 15 along with relevant record. “And in case of non-appearance, a unilateral action will be taken against him [Mr Rashid] under 172/174 Pakistan Penal Code,” the notice says.
PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz recently hinted at a public rally in Punjab that her party’s government would not spare “Imran Khan and his cronies”.
A source in the PML-N said the PTI government had resorted to political victimisation of its opponents, but the Shehbaz Sharif-led administration would not go to that extend; however, it would certainly not let Imran Khan and his close associates go scot-free on ‘corruption’.
A PTI leader told Dawn that Sheikh Rashid had been on the radar of the PML-N for a long time as its supremo Nawaz Sharif had a personal grudge against him for his attacks on the latter. “I cannot comment on the ACE inquiry against Mr Rashid, but one thing is for sure that he is among those the Sharifs are not going to spare as long they are in power,” he said.
Earlier, the PML-N-led coalition government had also instituted a money laundering case against Moonis Elahi of the PML-Q, another ally of Imran Khan. Mr Moonis had declined the Sharifs’ offer to make his father Chaudhry Parvez Elahi the chief minister of Punjab in return for their (Chaudhrys) support for the no-confidence motion filed in the National Assembly against Imran Khan.
Mr Moonis has been on bail in the case which he terms ‘fake’ instituted on political grounds.
NAB summons Farah Khan
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore on Wednesday summoned Farhat Shahzadi, known as Farah Khan, a close friend of PTI chairman Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi, to appear before it on July 20 in connection with an investigation into income beyond means and money laundering.
NAB also summoned her husband Ahsan Jamil and her business associates and others, including Abdul Majeed, Tariq Mahmoodul Hasan, Muzahir Baig, Munir, Asif, Waqar, Muhammad Fawad, Shandana Awan, Muhammad Naeem, Waqas Riffat, Sajjad Hussain, Ahmad Mansoor, Asad Majeed, Hamid Hameed, Shahzad Ahmad, Muhammad Anwar and Nasir Nawaz, between July 14 and 20 at the NAB Lahore headquarters.
Although the PML-N leadership, especially Maryam Nawaz, has been targeting Farah Khan and Bushra Bibi along with Imran Khan during by-poll campaigns in Punjab for their alleged corruption, practically a corruption reference has yet to be filed by NAB in a court of law against Farah Khan and her associates. The NAB investigation against her is at an inquiry stage.
Punjab Home Minister Attaullah Tarar recently announced plans for seeking “red warrants” to bring Farah Khan back to Pakistan from the UAE where she had gone days before the no-confidence motion succeeded against Imran Khan.
A red notice is an international request sent to the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) seeking the arrest and extradition of an individual.
Interestingly, Mr Tarar had also asked Imran Khan to call Farah Khan back to the country if he (Imran) had a firm belief that she was innocent. “I must say here that Imran is not bringing her back here because she and her husband will become approvers within an hour of their arrest,” he had claimed.
Farah, however, has maintained that she is “innocent” and her ‘media trial’ is carried out to malign the former first lady.

PTI forms panel to work on withdrawing cases filed in Punjab after 'Azadi March'
PTI secretary general Asad Umar on Wednesday announced that his party has formed an "Anti Victimisation and Accountability Committee" to get criminal cases filed against party members following the "Azadi March" on May 25 withdrawn and identify officials who "tortured" protesters for legal proceedings.
"No one should think that we have forgotten May 25. Neither have we forgotten it nor will we let anyone forget it," he said on Twitter.
The march
Former prime minister Imran Khan's march for haqeeqi azadi — true freedom — was preceded by the authorities invoking Section 144, a measure used to curb gatherings. Shipping containers were put in place on major thoroughfares to block their path.
A night before the march, police raids were reported on PTI leaders' residences. On the day of the march, party supporters and workers in Punjab met the worst form of atrocities.
In one such incident, ex-minister Hammad Azhar suffered injuries after tear gas was fired at him. On the other hand, the windshield of former provincial health minister Yasmin Rashid's car was smashed.

Separately, after the protest ended at the D-Chowk, an avalanche of cases was registered against Imran and other PTI leaders such as Rashid, Fawad Chaudhry, Azhar, Imran Ismail, Shibli Faraz, and others.
The committee
In a tweet today, Umar said that the party had constituted a committee that would oversee all the first information reports (FIRs) and "identify the fake cases".
It would be headed by former education minister Shafqat Mahmood and comprise PTI leaders Aamer Mehmood Kiani, Yasmin Rashid, Aon Abbas Buppi, and Raja Basharat.
Umar outlined that the purpose of the committee would be to collect all fake cases registered against PTI members in Punjab and take legal steps to get them withdrawn.
Furthermore, it would "identify officials responsible for illegal and criminal action" against party members and initiate legal proceedings against them.
The development comes after the party had a sweeping victory in the crucial Punjab by-elections after winning 15 out of 20 seats in the province.
At a press conference yesterday, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said that the party would now form a government in the province on July 22 after the run-off chief minister elections.
PTI has chosen PML-Q leader Chaudhry Parvez Elahi as its candidate.

Strongly condemn persecution & arrest of Sindh Opposition leader Haleem Adil Sheikh by Sindh govt. This is pure fascism, reflecting the Zardari-Sharif mafia's approach of eliminating those they cannot purchase & it is absolutely unacceptable in any democracy.

Punjab govt sacks 25 SHOs to ‘avenge’ treatment of PTI marchers
LAHORE: Gearing up for a major action against those involved in the torture of PTI’s leaders and workers on May 25, the Lahore police on Thursday shown the door to 25 station house officers (SHOs) for their alleged involvement in the “sordid” episode during the party’s Azadi March at the “behest of the Hamza Shehbaz administration”.
Official sources indicate that axe will fall not only on civil and police bureaucrats but also some politicians of PML-N. The PTI-PML-Q Punjab government may give a surprise to PML-N by arresting some of its top leaders like former chief minister Hamza Shehbaz, federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and Special Assistant to PM Ata Tarar.
“Lahore police have suspended 25 SHOs from service and initiated inquiry against them,” Punjab Home Minister retired Col Muhammad Hashim said in a tweet.
He quoted Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi as having directed him to take action against people involved in breaking the law on behalf of their master in May. “I will not leave anyone and will take action against [them] all,” he said.
DIG Operation Afzaal Ahmed Kouser claimed to have “conducted interviews and removed SHOs from their posts while he also appointed 32 new SHOs” to different police stations in the city.
However, he claimed to have removed old SHOs and issued posting orders for new SHOs by taking administrative measures.
Repeated attempts to obtain his comment failed.
It may be noted that SHOs in Lahore played a key role in crackdown against PTI leaders and activists ahead of and during the party’s Azadi March on Islamabad.
Earlier on Aug 1, the Punjab government removed two top police officials for their role in torture of the participants of Azadi March.
The government removed DIG Operations retired Capt Sohail Chaudhry and directed him to report to the Services and General Administration Department. AIG Special Branch Usman Anwar was also removed and his services were handed over to the Centre.
Previously, the Punjab government had withdrawn all cases filed against PTI leaders during Azadi March when PML-N ruled the province and decided to take action against policemen involved in torturing the participants.
It may be recalled that PTI chairman Imran Khan had formed an anti-victimisation committee under the chairmanship of Shafqat Mahmood. The committee at a meeting reviewed all the cases and decided to collect data of policemen and officials who were posted on May 25.
The committee decided to take action against the cops who acted beyond their duty and called upon the Punjab government to withdraw the cases registered to victimise the party leaders besides also withdrawing orders to arrest the PTI leaders.

The Punjab Police conducted a raid on the residence of Special Assistant to Prime Minister Attaullah Tarar in Lahore, it emerged on Saturday morning.
Confirming the raid, the Lahore police said that Attaullah Tarar, however, was not present at his residence.
Reacting to the development, the PML-N leader criticised Punjab Home Minister Hashim Dogar and asked him not to cross the line in defence of the “anti-state narrative”.
“Hashim Dogar Sahib! you have turned out to be a very unserious character,” he added.
"What do you want to prove by sending the police to a house where I lived 15 years ago?"
The police, however, did not share details why the raid was conducted.
The PTI leaders had earlier announced that the Punjab government will launch an inquiry and probe the May 25 "crackdown" on Azadi March participants. A committee was also formed by the party to oversee the matter.
‘Law awaiting you’
In a statement, Punjab Home Minister Hashim Dogar asked Attaullah Tarar to present himself before the police, adding that law is awaiting him.
The police went to Tarar’s house to deliver a notice, clarified the home minister.
Tarar should present himself before the Lahore police if he understands the power of law, warned Dogar.

As Punjab flexes muscles, ‘N’ leaders flee to Islamabad
As the PML-Q-PTI coalition government in Punjab tightens the noose around close aides of the Sharif family in the province in various cases, the PML-N leaders have flown off to the ‘safer confines’ of Islamabad, where their party is in power, to evade arrest.
The Lahore police on Saturday initiated action against the prime minister’s special assistant Atta Tarar, a ‘blue-eyed’ associate of Hamza Shehbaz, as well as former PML-N minister Rana Mashhood in the Punjab Assembly attack case (registered by Chief Minister Parvez Elahi over hooliganism during the chief minister’s previous election on April 16).
A police team raided both PML-N leaders’ residences here, but returned empty handed as the suspects had managed to escape to Islamabad. Another PM’s assistant, Malik Ahmad Khan, who is also wanted in this case, is already in the federal capital.
In the current scenario, it appears the PML-N’s main Punjab leaders may not dare enter the province for fear of arrest, as are some leaders of Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf exercising caution against visiting Islamabad after Shahbaz Gill’s arrest in Banigala. In this Punjab vs the Centre fiasco, neither side — PTI or PML-N — is ready to lower the political temperature.
The PTI leadership has already declared unlawful, the police action against its party leaders and protesters during the May 25 ‘peaceful’ long march on Islamabad, allegedly unleashed by Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and PM Shehbaz Sharif’s son Hamza, who was the chief minister then.
Hamza is said to be the ‘main character’ in the alleged torture episode of the PTI leadership in Punjab, and sensing danger had already managed to leave the country for the UK.
Sanaullah was alleged by the PTI to have employed ‘fascist’ means to stop party supporters from reaching Islamabad on May 25. The PTI stresses Sanaullah will have to pay for this. The interior minister has warned the Punjab government that any action against him will aggravate tensions between the Centre and Punjab, and lead to imposition of the governor’s rule on the province.
Sanaullah is currently in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah, and may not be able to enter Punjab in the wake of his impending arrest as threatened by the Parvez Elahi administration that is acting on direct orders from ousted premier Imran Khan.
On the other hand, on the directions of the Sharifs, the interior minister has ordered the FIA to go hard against Mr Khan and other PTI leaders for their alleged involvement in the prohibited funding case. Ex-minister Fawad Chaudhry of the PTI also warned that if the Banigala residence of Mr Khan is raided, Jati Umra — the Sharif’s palatial abode — in Lahore will bear the brunt.
In a tweet, Atta Tarar said police raided his residence in Lahore where he lived 15 years ago. Addressing the Punjab home minister, Tarar said: “Mr Hashim Dogar, I thought you were a minister, but you turned out to be a very frivolous character. What are you trying to prove by sending police to the house I lived in 15 years ago? You will run the ministry in this situation? Do not go that far to defend anti-national statements.”
Mr Dogar responded to Tarar on Twitter, saying the PML-N leader had absconded to Islamabad. “If the politician (Tarar) understands the law, he should follow the police’s order,” he said.
Lahore police chief Ghulam Mahmood Dogar told Dawn.com that notices were sent to Tarar and Rana Mashhood to appear in an investigation into the Punjab Assembly attack case.
However, PTI leaders Fawad Chaudhry and focal person Azhar Mashwani claimed action against Tarar had been initiated in connection with the torture of party workers on May 25. “Tarar should come out of hiding to clarify his position,” Chaudhry remarked.
