    Border was the greatest Australian captain of all-time. He was the one who carried the Australian team during their worst phase.

    Taylor and Steve Waugh both were a close second best.

    Clarke was a good tactician but not an influencer but still better than Ponting who is at the bottom in this list as he cashed on heavily when the team had the luxury of McGrath, Warne, Gilchrist and Hayden but post their retirements, he no longer had any vision and started taking home umpiring assistance to win home matches wherever possible or lost numerous series too vs the likes of South Africa, England and India and even drew vs Kiwis.

    Border > Waugh = Taylor > Clarke > Ponting in Tests in this order.

    My reasons are same as you but I rate Waugh better, can there be a case for Waugh being better than Border
