We appreciate the kind gesture of England Captain Ben Stokes donating his fees of entire Test series for flood victims of Pakistan. Empathy for suffering humanity is the greatest of all virtues. His gesture epitomises the great British tradition of philanthropy.

Wonder if the host players will also step up and do the same? Looks odd that a visitor is doing that but not anyone from the home side?

English cricket and the ECB owe Pakistan cricket and the PCB a lot.
Pakistan got ECB out of a hole during Covid when the ECB were in a lot of trouble. Pakistan toured in the height of Covid and enabled ECB to make money during a very tough time for them.
In addition the ECB pulled out of the Pakistan tour and the PCB were rightly annoyed with their excuses.

Don't agree with this. Stokes could have donated half his match fees. It is unethical to expect someone to offer his services for free ie stokes playing for free.

Yes - thank you for writing what I would have written. Both PCB & ECB looked after their own interests.
PCB knew that not touring during the pandemic would offend ECB and severely decrease their chances of touring Pakistan while ECB backed out after New Zealand left because with Pakistan, it is always better to proceed with caution.
PCB & Pakistani fans should accept the fact that given our reputation & history, teams will always take the better safe than sorry approach.
Even if there is a slight rumor or warning, they will be apprehensive. It already a half miracle that they didn’t back off after the so-called assassination attempt on Imran.
Perhaps the England security forces received intel that it was a self-orchestrated drama to gain political sympathy. If they knew it was a genuine attack they would have probably refused to tour.

Ramiz did the complete opposite of this. What a success he has pulled out of it too. If you say the ECB owed us nothing then this is even more remarkable.
This is what happens with someone in charge who doesn't loathe his identity and is able to take decisions without defaulting to licking the boot.
A grand gesture from Stokes serves to highlight the izzat Pakistan are carrying themselves with too. Babar and co are doing a fantastic job at making us a very likeable side.

Ben Stokes has taken the lead as England captain in Pakistan by donating £50,000 towards the flood relief appeal.
Stokes has donated his entire match fees from the three match series, in the region of £15,000 per match, towards the appeal following the devastating floods that took the lives of at least 1,700 people. The England T20 squad made a donation to the appeal during their series in September with the series sponsor Bank Alfalah donating cash for every six hit during the series.
This though is a personal move by Stokes who wanted to use his position as the first England Test captain to lead his side in this country for 17 years to do some good and support people in crisis with nearly 8 million displaced from their homes.

What catches my attention apart from the great gesture is 15,000 pounds for a test match, wow.

Excellent gesture. I remember Pat Cummins did the same during IPL by donating for covid situation in India
