[VIDEO] Mickey Arthur not returning as Head Coach & Shahid Afridi not continuing as Chief Selector
Why couldn't PCB and Mickey Arthur agree on a deal for him to return as Pakistan Head Coach and what Shahid Afridi would prefer to do rather than be the Chief Selector.

The Afridi appointment was always going to be temporary I guess. He is an interesting character but I don’t get the impression from any of his past endeavours that he is someone who likes to stay put in the same place for long.

Mickey’s contract with Derbyshire is until end of 2025 season. There is little chance of him becoming Pakistan head coach.

We dont need coach or selector. Give those powers to Najam Sethi.
-

The likes of Langer, Flemming are unlikely to accept the job, the PCB cannot afford to pay them especially given the deteriorating Pakistani Currency. Mickey Arthur has recommended two names to Sethi who will be willing to offer their services to Pakistan at an affordable price and one of the names recommended is Grant Flower. I seriously hope the PCB stays away from Flower, a namak haram individual who stole a living for 5 years.

Sethi being a loudmouth and telling everyone he wants Arthur as the next coach only to have the proverbial egg on his face.
He should learn a thing or two about keeping things under wraps until they're done.

Thanks to the PCB for entrusting me with the chief selector’s role for #PakvNZ series. Thoroughly enjoyed the responsibility. Hope I lived up to the expectations of the fans with brave/bold decisions. Will always be available to help in any way I can. https://t.co/vJxlhs6TtA

Correct.. thats what PCB need to drive with discussion behind close doors instead of flashing big names to media..
If they are professional in their approach , coaches will come forward to work with PCB even though their past doesnt guarantee that much in terms of expectation...

Correct - We have some very "village yokel" media.
However, there needs to be a sensible approach.
Firstly we need a selection committee not an advisory committee for the captain! They need to provide the best players we have - once they start doing that job, then you can get the best Coach money can buy and get him to make the players reach heights.
If you give garbage players to a Coach you are paying millions then
1. He will get disillusioned
2. Media will go after him and start mentioning salaries
3. He will leave and no one else will take his place because of above.

Wasn't the first question asked to Dean Jones in an interview was "How much will you charge?"
This happened under the so called professional administration of Ehsan Mani and Wasim Khan

To me it seems that Lala wasn't comfortable working in the current setup.
The Shan Masood vice captain episode is an example of this.

According to reports we will have a online head coach. First in cricket history.
Najam is a bigger joker than Ramiz Raja

Shahid Afridi speaking to reporters:
Speaking to the media on Monday, Afridi shared that he heard the news regarding 'online coach' but he thinks the idea will not work.
"Yes I have heard about it," Afridi responded. "I can't understand their [PCB] idea"
"Why do we always want foreign coaches? I can understand that PCB wants to avoid favoritism culture associated with the arrival of local people. But, I think there are a lot of names who can lead the team strongly,"

Any new approach is better than the Kudrat Ka Nizam Saqlain Mushtaq. Mickey coaching online is still better than Pot Belly Saqlain being in person with the team.

After embarrassing us in front of BCCI, Najam Sethi the greatest chairman ever will now bring in a coach that will manage the team online.
Imagine the trolling on sm when Mickey is seen coaching a county team on the ground whilst taking zoom calls to manage an INTERNATIONAL team.
Sethi coming out with the begging bowl once again.
The guy just doesn’t take no for an answer.
Begging BCCI for a bilateral series.
Begging Mickey Arthur to comeback.
What’s next, begging Zimbabwe to play in Quetta?

I think Sethi is confused. If Arthur is team Director, then scrap the chief selector role, and let him pick the team, captain and any coaches required. This role seems confused and just a PR stunt to placate fans not happy with results.

I need money can I have any online job in PCB as well? I can be a Netflix tutor for Pak team , teaching them all the secret search codes for particular genre of movies , probably my role will still be more valuable then online cricket coaching I guess.

The tone is set from the top, professionalism vs. unprofessionalism. When clowns are making decisions, of course it will be a circus, and that's what we're seeing. Online coaches. Scary to think what Mr. Sethi comes up with next
Greatness is a choice. Mediocrity is a disease.
