Logically Pakistan should be one of the front runners to win the WC alongside India as they are well of of the sub-continent conditions but strangely they seem to struggle on these slow tracks off-late. Pakistan has one of the best bowling attacks in t20s but wcan the same bowlers deliver in ODIs will also decide how far they can go in the WC. Haris Rauf looks comfortabe bowling 4 overs in t20s but seems to struggle in ODIs.
Naseem and Shaheen will jointly spearhead the attack and will need help from Shahdab, waseem jr and Nawaz. With the top teams consistently posts scores over 330 the batsmen too need to show some intent and not leave it to teh last 10-15 overs with wickets in hand. Those tactics are of the 90s. With 2 new balls and field restrictions teh batsmen need to look to score runs from ball 1.

If Pakistan play as a team and play full strength, they will be one of the favourites. By reading the comments on pakpassion and also on Twitter by several journalists, you just get a feeling that Pakistan are simply obsessed with individual records and milestones, while team comes later. I mean It appears to be the predominant mentality amongst Pakistanis.
Anyways on topic, I think Naseem is a fantastic cricketer he has a bit of a never say die attitude in him, like as in the past players which we used to see.

I actually believe that Pakistan have a very good chance in the World Cup providing they pick the right players.
They have good options in the pace-bowling department, as well as Shadab and Nawaz as the main spinners. I would pick Imad Wasim in the squad too.
The batting balance has to be right. At the moment there are too many similar batters, guys who want to plod along instead of a couple of batters who can go and put the opposition bowlers under pressure.

Imam
Fakhar
Babar
Riz
Agha Salman
M Haris
Shadab
Nawaz
Naseem
Afridi
Haris Rauf
Ifti
Imad or Osama Mir
M Wasim
one more wild card batter
This team should get to semis; however, only down side 'baba - riz' could slow the game down aka T20s and we struggle to keep going in the middle/lower order.

No actually, we have Shaheen and that's it.
When the stakes are high Babar crumbles in over 80% of these matches. I don't fancy him to deliver against India nor will do so in a knockout game against any other opposition.
Shaheen is Pakistan's best player and the only match winner we have in our team.

Shaheen's been excellent but they ran him into the ground and he got injured. Hope he can recapture his form when he comes back.
But definitely, one or two good players out of a mediocre set isn't going to get us anywhere. It can be mitigated with T20 but you need more quality when it comes to ODI and tests.

Naseem Shah speaking to reporters:
“I kept showing up at the academy regularly and eventually got picked for the U-16s and U-19s before being named in the Pakistan squad for the Emerging Teams Asia Cup,” said the fast bowler. “I was also in contention for the National T20 Cup and the PSL when I experienced pain in my back while bowling in a practice match.
“We got the CT scan done after which it emerged that I had three fractures in my back and I was asked to stop playing for six months. All of a sudden it felt like my life was over. At that moment I thought: ‘This was my time to do everything that I wanted to’.”
“More injuries did come in my career but by that time I had understood that God gives challenges but He then blesses with a lot of ease too,” he observed. “I realised I was blessed to be able to learn such important lessons from life at such a young age.”
“When I go to the academy now, kids over there are in awe of the fact that I get to travel the world and have so much fun at such a young age,” he said. “But then I think these kids don’t have an idea of how blessed they are to have parents.”
“When I was young my father used to say: ‘Cricket angraizon ka khel hai (Cricket is the white man’s sport)’,” he said. “At that time, I didn’t really understand why he said that.
“In my debut match, Australia hit us 500 odd runs. Totally exhausted by the end of the day, I thought to myself, may be my father was right,” noted Naseem with a smirk on his face as the room burst into laughter.
“In the next match, my room-mate Musa Khan made his debut and the Australians hit some 650 runs. Musa came to me after the match and said: ‘Maybe your father was right’,” Naseem went on to say.
“Each wicket at the PSL will be mean valuable to me,” he said. “Over there, no one cares how good you look,” he quipped. “All that matters is bowling in the right areas.”
“We’ve talked about this with the management and we are trying to find ways of managing workload,” he said. “Personally I want to play all three formats but we can consider solutions like skipping a T20 or two to prepare for a Test series. However, how we can go about it is still being pondered on and I hope it helps us be better.Last edited by daytrader; 10th February 2023 at 11:16.

Naseem Shah has disappointed me. If he really is serious in making an impact for Pakistan specially in major tournaments and also red ball, then he needs to stop showing up at mickey mouse leagues worldwide.
The way he made a fool of himself during that confrontation with Azam Khan also shows that he is a massively immature guy.Last edited by gazza619; 10th February 2023 at 13:22.

This kid talks way too much rather than performances here and there. To get the trophy our batsmen have to play spin really well which is unlikely plus bowlers under pressure fail as usual start from Shaheen, Rauf.....
