16-1 overall. Only team to lose only 1 game that year. Best team doesn't always win.

    We'll be back.

You do realize that a year of NFL happened after "that" year right?

Your argument is akin to me calling the pats league best based on 2007!

The difference is that the Colts have basically the same roster as they did in 2009 (prob even better on paper, TBH).

(I'm not saying we'll go 14-0 again or anything like that, I just think, if the key players stay healthy, this team can be the #1 seed)

Err not really. Mathis and Freeny are not the same guys. The defense is basically not even half as effective without those too. Manning is coming off a neck surgery and will be missing training camp. Go check the last time that happened - the Colts had a horror start to the season.

I honestly think the Pats are in better shape than the Colts. Mankins and Light are coming back. We have the SAME impact players with new additions, not to mention the defense getting another year of experience.

PS: Its the NFL so Im not even thinking about making statements like "we are the favs for the #1 seed".

Mathis and Freeney aren't the same guys? Whaaa??? Since when? They're both every bit as good as they were in 2009.

Fair point on Manning, though. That will be a concern. He didn't do well to start 2008, the last time he had a surgery like this.

I want Nnamdi on Houston for two reasons:

    1. Keeps him out of the Jests who Pats face x2 a year!!!
    2. Maybe that will help knock the Colts out of the playoffs!!!

Don't worry about Nnamdi, QuarterBack. I heard the Patsies are in negotiation with the top camera in this year's free agent class. You guys will be fine.

Been reading a few Philly sources and they saying; Kevin Kolb will be a Zona Cardinal by Friday, Eagles get CB Dominque Cromatie & a 3rd pick in return.. Cromatie is young at 25 years of age and has good size at 6-2 and is one of the up and coming corners in the league... If Eagles can somehow manage to get Haynesworth I think this will be the YEAR!!!! BIRD UP!!!

Eagles need Defensive End opposite Cole, experience in LB and Safety positions also. We also need a 3rd running back. Eagles seem to be just waiting and not being very active. We might lose some of the good players out there. This is annoying.

STrong possibility Ray Edwards could become an Eagle.. I have high hoes for the 2nd round pick Jarret........We need another DT though Bunkley just doesnt get the job done...As for an extra running back Reggie Bush could be a possibility..

Ray Edwards would be nice. With R Bush likely going to Dolphins, it just seems like we are doing our business slower than most teams. Hopefully they got some sort of plan and are not actually hurting themselves by going this slowly.

I personally consider Manning to be a superior QB (by a little bit), but as a team, Brady on the Pats makes them simply better.

Come on, what are you, a 2 year old playing with names?! And the camera thing is getting old dude, the year when we were busted, we ripped through every single team we played till we lost in the Superbowl to what was the better team on that day! And pls oh pls, dont even get me started on the fact that EVERY SINGLE team was taping signals...

And that too for a 5th rounder in 2013! To top it off, he doesn't even make much money anymore. All his guaranteed money was up front and should be off the books by now. He's making about 5 million in 2011. What a steal.

I don't see the Pats going to the 4-3. They've spent the last 2 years getting linebackers that fit the 3-4 scheme. I see Haynesworth as a DE.

I disagree. Look at what Cassel was able to do when Brady went down. Manning makes average players on his team look like pro bowlers. He's the better QB and he is worth more to the Colts than Brady is to the Pats.

There was no way the skins were gonna release Haynesworth and pair him up with his former Dline coach from Tennesse Jim Washburn who is now in Philly.. Haynesworth would have destroyed the Skins dline playing for Philly under Washburn with a chip on his shoulders, it was a smart move... Come to think of it, this was one of the rare few smart moves Danny Boi has made since he brought the Skins...

Philly's LB corps; they are awfully young, matter of fact just kids under the age of 24 I believe, there is no wisdom there I am very worried almost too worried. I dunno if they have any plans in regards to the LB situation, the plans I have mostly seen from the FO since Lurie took over in 96 was; have bits and pieces players at bargain prices hoping for the best.... Eagles best chances for the ring is within the next 2 years and then Mke Vick will be done and we will be back to rebuilding once again...

This is a very common misconception that most fans have. Last year the Pats ran just 40% of the plays as a pure 3-4 and about 57% of defensive plays as variants of 3-4. They run multiple packages with various fronts. Haynes won't be there on every down and with BB conjuring up defensive multiple 4-3 schemes, he will be used in the way that helps him and the team best.

All this is contingent on a huge IF! IF Al can get his act together

Dolphins agree to a 2 year contract with Bush, allowing the trade wit Saints to be completed.

As expected Eagles going for the cheapest deal, Babin had a huge one last year working under Jim Washburn lets see if that will happen again..

I dont disagree with that. I personally do consider Manning to be superior, just as a QB. However, as a team Brady and Pats >>> Manning and Colts. The Cassel example you cited just proves this further.

Remember, a huge part of Cassel's success in NE was Bill Bellichick. And he's still the Head Coach of the Pats and still plans with and for Brady. That is why the Pats are better than the Colts.

Sure, as did a lot of the football pundits. However, a good QB only gets you so far. Championship requires much more! Not to mention Brady's far superior postseason record.

Crap. OT Robert gallery signs with Seattle. I was hoping we would pick him up.

    Via Adam Schefter :
Jets are more than $10 million UNDER salary cap, according to two NFL capologists. Might make the Jets the favorite to land Nnamdi Asomugha.
And Matt Leinart aka Bust joins the Texans.

Agree with Inswinger here. Manning is slightly better QB than Brady. He might have a bad playoff record than Brady but thats only because he has a bad habit of choking, its not really him getting pressured by good defenses, its just him making bad decisions.

Brady on the other hand can be pressured by good defenses. We all know what Terrell Suggs has done to him every time they play each other ...but on his day, Brady can be the best in the league (remember the Steelers-Pats game last year?)

The only thing I hate about Brady is him crying to the refs after everytime he is sacked...or about to be sacked. That just ticks me off--especially when the Pats play the Ravens.

And they are not important for QB?! I'd take a non-choking, good decision making winner who can get pressured anyday over a QB who gets the ball out quickly but chokes when the pressure is on him. Heck the way you described Manning can be used to describe JeMarcus Russel.

Brady on the other hand can be pressured by good defenses. We all know what Terrell Suggs has done to him every time they play each other ...but on his day, Brady can be the best in the league (remember the Steelers-Pats game last year?)
Which is why, the Pats with Brady and Bill are better than the Colts with Manning and name-the-coach.

The only thing I hate about Brady is him crying to the refs after everytime he is sacked...or about to be sacked. That just ticks me off--especially when the Pats play the Ravens.

Bill did it with Dillon and Moss in the past and very successfully at that. Also, Ocho is not a bad boy per se, just mouthy.

Patriots made a big mistake signing Ochocinco and Haynesworth. This will be fun

Looks like Nnamdi will be a Jet..This should put them over Pats now. But I still think the Jets are overrated like crazy.

Vince Young should get some playing time in Philly because Vick is an injury prone. Great move.

Yeah, we Pats fans have heard that line before. Until and unless the Jets actually have something to show for the season (at least a division title) they will be the Not Yets!

Have you already forgotten the playoffs last year.
Bill might be a great coach...but this is OCHOCINCO we're talking about here! This guy will be a cancer to your team..and Haynesworth! Your team is in big trouble. You just dont know this yet

Its a great move for Philly. For him, going to Cards would have been much better...
Now Philly has a great back up in Young if Vick happens to get injured (hopefully not).

You mean the Jets' own private little superbowl?! No, we got beat by a very good Jets team. But fact still remains they have NOTHING to show for their last two years. FWIW, Pats were and are the reining AFC East Division Champs.

Err, when has Chad been a team cancer?! He is mouthy but when has he actually been bad for his team?! I cant remember any such instance, can you?!

And L-O-L that you think the Pats are in trouble bcos they added Al and Chad. Like i previously stated, Bill has a history of taking in talented players, getting the best out of them and throwing them out. See Moss, Dillon, etc... Seriously dude, do you actually follow other teams or just read what ppl say?!

And lmao at we are in trouble but we dont know comment. You really know the Pats locker room better than Bill Bellichick! You know the guy who actually coached them to 3 SB titles.

Its a great move for Philly. For him, going to Cards would have been much better...

Great backup?! Vince Young is "great" but Chad is "team cancer"?

I am talking about now. Forget the past. Jets have better team than Pats RIGHT NOW..atleast on paper.

Err, when has Chad been a team cancer?! He is mouthy but when has he actually been bad for his team?! I cant remember any such instance, can you?!
You have already forgotten last year? OR his on and off problems with the coach in the past? His on and off problems with Palmer? His constant need to stay in the spot light doing crazy things? his idiotic self promotions? His tweeting problems before games? and what not...

Moss might have done great in the few years he was with Bill and Brady..but how did that turn out to be in the end?
Yes I do follow other teams..mainly in the AFC.

And lmao at we are in trouble but we dont know comment. You really know the Pats locker room better than Bill Bellichick! You know the guy who actually coached them to 3 SB titles.
And also the same guy who was cought for cheating against the Jets in 07, the Rams in SB, and god knows how many times before.

Great backup?! Vince Young is "great" but Chad is "team cancer"?
I never said he was 'great'. But as a backup, you cant get have anyone better than him..thus the 'great backup' comment.

    They were targeting Farve ***

Anyways. Dont get so sensitve over me making a little fun of The Jets and Pats. Afterall, I am a die hard Ravens fan. So what do you expect?

I still dont think the Jets will get any better with Nnamdi...slightly better thats all. Chad and Al will cause problems, probably not next season, but its bound to happen when things get tough for them and the blame game starts.

The media can hype these 2 teams all they want, and the fans can brag about the new signings and all, but the funny thing is--they wont even win more than 1 or 2 playoff game next year.

All ego issues, not a team cancer, his team mates still have glowing things to say about him. Not to mention Bill.

Moss might have done great in the few years he was with Bill and Brady..but how did that turn out to be in the end?
Yes I do follow other teams..mainly in the AFC.
    Exactly my point!
If Al or Chad so much as even think about disrupting the team, they will be tossed out to the sidewalk ala Moss! Even lesser risk with these guys! Even better for the Pats! [/quote]

And also the same guy who was cought for cheating against the Jets in 07, the Rams in SB, and god knows how many times before.
Oh gimme a break. EVERY other team did it. The great Jimmy Johnson admitted to as much. Pats' issue was they did it after the NFL memo.

I never said he was 'great'. But as a backup, you cant get have anyone better than him..thus the 'great backup' comment.

    They were targeting Farve ***
Lol, me and you are upgrades over drama queen Farve.

Oh not at all. Its all good natured banter either way.

I still dont think the Jets will get any better with Nnamdi...slightly better thats all. Chad and Al will cause problems, probably not next season, but its bound to happen when things get tough for them and the blame game starts.

    Eagles Sign DT Jenkins:

Albert Haynesworth stole the Defensive Hog limelight today, after he was traded by the Redskins to the Patriots. But the Cold, Hard Football Facts put little stock in big names and big headlines. We put big stock in big data -- numbers that prove a player's merit on the field and in the trenches, where games are won and lost.

So we're enamored with a less-heralded and less-publicized defensive lineman who has had a big and obvious impact on the fortunes of his team: Cullen Jenkins, the Green Bay free agent rumored to be going almost everywhere (Washington, most recently). Most teams could benefit from his quietly effective services.

Jenkins, an undrafted free agent out of Central Michigan, has been a great NFL success story. He is the younger brother of the more highly touted and recently retired Kris Jenkins. Little Bro has turned into a key contributor for the consistently great Green Bay Defensive Hogs -- at least according to the Cold, Hard Football Facts' almighty Defensive Hog Index. The Packers D-Hogs have typically dominated when he's been on the field. They've struggled when he's been on the sidelines.

Jenkins provides us a perfect way to measure the history of the Defensive Hog Index, which has a proven track record of consistently spotlighting Super Bowl champions by measuring each defensive front in three key areas: run defense, forcing Negative Pass Plays, and third-down defense. He joined the NFL in 2004 -- the same year we launched Cold, Hard Football Facts.com and our "Quality Stats" that have a direct correlation to winning football games. So Jenkins' rookie year is the first year for which we have Defensive Hog Index data.

What follows is a look at the fortunes of Green Bay's defensive front since Jenkins joined the team. You'll see Green Bay has consistently fielded a great unit since he arrived on the scene, at least since his sophomore campaign. Granted, the team has had plenty of defensive talent around him, in players such as sack-master Aaron Kampman, stalwart linebacker A.J. Hawk, playmaker Clay Matthews and 2009 No. 9 overall pick B.J. Raji. But you'll notice, especially in recent years, that the fortunes of the Green Bay defensive front seemed to change depending upon the amount of time Jenkins spent on the field, whether at defensive tackle or, later, at defensive end.

2004: The undrafted rookie not only made the team, but also worked his way into the Packers' rotation with six starts and an unexpected impact (4.5 sacks from an interior position).

The Pack definitely needed the help: they fielded some of the worst Defensive Hogs in football that season: No. 22 overall on the DHI, No. 27 in run defense (surrendering 4.59 YPA) and No. 24 at Forcing Negative Pass Plays (8.60 percent of opponent dropbacks ended in a sack or INT).

With a weak unit up front, the Packers surrendered 380 points (No. 23 in scoring defense), the most by a Green Bay team since the dreadful 1986 campaign. The Pack quickly exited the playoffs with a 31-17 home loss to the Vikings in the wildcard round.

2005: Jenkins became more prominent in the Green Bay rotation, starting 12 games and playing all 16.

The D-Hogs improved noticeably as Jenkins' role increased, from No. 22 overall on the DHI in 2004 to No. 13 overall in 2005; from No. 27 in run defense to No. 18 (3.99 YPA); and from No. 24 at forcing Negative Pass Plays to No. 17 (9.68 percent).

The Packers as a team fell apart, though, dropping from 10-6 to 4-12. Don't blame the defense: Jenkins and the unit had improved in almost every measure (surrendering 21.5 PPG). They were handicapped by a certain "gunslinger" quarterback who threw 29 picks and whose late-game mistakes repeatedly cost his team a shot at victory.

2006: Jenkins started just five games, but the Green Bay defensive front continued to improve, largely behind a career year from Aaron Kampman (15.5 sacks).

The Pack finished No. 5 overall on the DHI thanks to a unit that was No. 3 at forcing Negative Pass Plays (12.01 percent) and No. 4 in third-down defense (32.89 percent).

2007: Jenkins emerged as a premier member of the Green Bay defensive front, starting all but one game. The Packers suddenly fielded its best defensive line in years: No. 3 overall on the Defensive Hog Index, No. 10 in run defense (3.88 YPA), No. 12 in forcing Negative Pass Plays (9.65 percent) and No. 3 in third-down defense (33.01 percent).

It was not a dominant unit, but it was solid across the board and Jenkins was a major player: he batted down nine passes, the most by a Green Bay defensive lineman since record-keeping began in 1980, according to Packers.com (Johnny Jolly surpassed that mark with 11 passes defended in 2009).

2008: Jenkins played just four games and the Packers defensive line suffered without him. It instantly dropped 11 spots on the Defensive Hog Index, to No. 14 overall, and the run defense simply fell apart, dropping from No. 10 in 2007 to No. 26 in 2008, allowing a dreadful 4.60 YPA on the ground.

The 2008 Packers allowed 23.8 PPG -- tying the 2004 Packers for Green Bay's worst defense since that bleak 1986 season. Both terrible defensive seasons came when Jenkins had his most limited roles.

2009: Jenkins was back -- and so was the Pack! He started all 16 games for the first time in his career, and the dramatically improved Defensive Hogs were a big reason for Green Bay's success.

Green Bay finished No. 1 at forcing Negative Pass Plays (11.61 percent), with Jenkins recording 4.5 sacks and 1 INT. The Packers were also No. 2 against the run (3.59 YPA) and No. 1 overall on the Defensive Hog Index -- the best defensive front in football, even while No. 1 pick B.J. Raji struggled to find playing time.

Most importantly, Green Bay's defense improved dramatically from the dreadful unit of 2008, to No. 7 league-wide in scoring (18.6 PPG).

Jenkins recorded a career-high 50 tackles and recorded three of the team's 11 forced fumbles.

2010: The past season may have been Jenkins' best yet. He missed five games, but he was highly productive when in the lineup.

Green Bay dropped to No. 10 overall on our Defensive Hog Index. But they were tied for second in the NFL with 47 sacks and topped the league in forcing Negative Pass Plays: 12.2 percent of opponent dropbacks ended in a sack or INT.

Most importantly, the Packers finished No. 2 in scoring defense (15.0 PPG), making it one of the best Green Bay defenses in the post-Lombardi Era.

The tried and true veteran Jenkins was a big part of that effort, with a career-high 7.0 sacks, the second most on the team (Clay Matthews, 13.5).

Jenkins may not be the best or most highly publicized defensive lineman in football. But he was clearly an impact player in Green Bay: the Packers defensive front was noticeably better when he was in the lineup. The team that acquires him can expect to be noticeably better, too.

So far, they've landed arguably the best backup QB in the league with VY, Dominique Rodgers Cromartie, Nnamdi Asoumgha, Jason Babin, and Cullen Jenkins and a 2nd round pick.

So, if Babin and Jenkins play to half of what they were last year, and Cole plays up to expectations along with Bunkley, the best DL in the league hands down. And with the defensive backfield the way it is (Aso, Asante, DRC) and some young guns like Nate Allen back there, there pass defense could be the best in the league hands down. Not to mention they still have Vick and arguably the youngest, fastest WR corps in the league.

If it all fits under the cap they are definitely the SuperBowl favorites.

Right now, they are like the New York Jets with no hype...which is a good thing.

    A few things:

Bunkley has been traded to the Browns for a 5th round pick.

Maclin is battling illness he is still not at camp and word is that he has lost around 15 pounds... VERY CONCERNED..

Winston Justice the starting RT is currently on PUP list, need someone capable to protect Vick's blind side.

Djax will be back the new CBA rules says a player gets fined 30 K per day for missing the camp and with his lower than low salary I doubt he could afford to lose any money..

If we dont win it this year it will be because we have WR & a RT issue however they will go lights out next year and go for it again I feel..
