    Khurram Manzoor Support Thread

Khurram Manzoor till now has had an average career. He now gets an opportunity to play as No. 3. in Hobart Test, which may turn out to be his last Test match, if he doesn't succeed.

He doesnt seem to have a very solid footwork & technique. Thats the reason why he has been thrashed by the fellow PPers in every 2nd post.

But we must also consider the fact that this youngster has earned his chance. He has made lot of runs in domestic circuit, as well as performed good on tours.

We must not hype him, but atleast we MUST support him. He may not have a good technique but he may well have the temperament to survive at International level (a hypothesis which may be wrong).

I have a policy of not supporting any mediocre player.

I am praying for his failure along with Malik.

I am happy that Faisal, Misbah and Sami are out, now I have to do some more work.

I am also praying for Pakistan to loose this match. I cannot support any corrupt system or any corrupt administration. At the moment people who are running the PCB are corrupt and my struggle will continue till I see see some changes in our system.

i thought they are out of the team due to their own incompetence .....

I support anyone who wears the green of Pakistan and wears it with pride. Khurram might not have the best technique and his scoring rate is painfully slow, but he has good concentration. He is not likely to throw his wicket away.

Technique can be improved through coaching and training. Just look at Imran Khan, when he first played Test cricket for Pakistan he was a wayward medium pacer. A change of technique turned him into a deadly fast bowler. He also worked on his batting and became a very useful cog in the Pakistan batting line up. However, no one coached that winning mentality into Imran Khan. That was inate.

The same is true for Khurram. His technique is poor but he has good concentration. If he can improve his technique he will be a much better player than guys like Imran Nazir and Kamran Akmal who are pretty to watch, but very unreliable.

As I have said the only way this injustice is going to end if people like us will raise their hands and register protest. This team is a losers team and I have no intention to support losers.

Believe or not, they dont need anybody's help. They are perfectly capable of helping their own cause.

    lol at Khurram Manzoor.

Its hard to imagine that he'll do worse than Faisal Iqbal but really players of this kind of mediocrity shouldn't be playing for Pakistan. I can name at least five better batsman than Manzoor, just lazing around in domestic cricket that have more potential than Khurram. He looks gutsy, but he just doesn't have the technique to cut it out at this level.

Who is talking about winning the match...

Its about supporting a youngster, who has finally earned a callup to the International team after scoring some runs in domestic cricket and on A / Academy team tours.

If the attitude of the fans remain like this that we want youngsters to start performing from their first outing, then thats a bar which many (even talented) wont be able to cross. Many of the game greats have started off with a mediocre career. But as their team persisted them, so they started to show off their true colors.

Now there is news in media that selectors are thinking about selecting Naved Yasin / Asad Shafiq for the ODI series (both of them have performed reasonably well in the recently concluded QAE trophy). Till now we dont have any clue whether they are good batsmen or again some technically incorrect batsmen. But whatever type of batsmen they are... the team management must give them a full chance (i.e. 5-10 outings on the trot) if selected. And we fans need to be a bit patient and contain our criticism till they have played some handful of matches. Otherwise if we are not going to give youngsters their due chance than we will see all tried & tested failures being brought back again & again.

I never use the term punjab mafia. Being a Kashmiri it does not bother me which part of pakistan players come from as long as they are the best 11 available. I would rather use the term friendship club for this lot.

Manzoor is not only shown thus far that he is a mediocre player but he also seems to have a Phd in bullsh1tting.

Anyone remember the interview he gave to PP about working on his game and improving his technique?

That was clear to see when he played against the Kiwi's.

Let's hope the rain saves us in this game.

To be honest I'm not even bothered that Malik or Manzoor are expected to play. The series is lost.

I'm just hoping for some good performance's from the like of Aamer, Asif, Umar Akmal and Sarfraz Ahmed. Good luck to them.

I think if you read my first post I clearly said that this may very well be the last chance provided to Khurram Manzoor & I have also stated the fact about his lack of footwork/technique.

But as he is going to be in the playing 11, so we should get behind him & support him.

His entire presence at crease is a gift for bowlers. His footwork is mind numbingly laughable. I am not sure if any of you noticed his expression after getting out in new zeland. He made it seem like he got out to a magic ball when it was a conventional good length delivery.

good luck khurram, he really does look pumped today (mind you so did faisal iqbal in the last test), wouldn't be at all surprised to see him grind out a gritty century....

This wonderful opportunity could have been given to Ahmed Shehzad or Azhar Ali. Stupid, pathetic stuff.

He was lucky he actually lasted 4 deliveries

And he did too!! He is not test class at all, I hope Pakistan can find atleast two good ones from U19 team which is playing in the WC. Otherwise i dont c any outstanding batter comming through. Khurram Manzoor has had his opertunity which he did not deserve and i dont dont want c him in the team again.

You didn't understand my post. I meant the threads have been silenced by the Pakistani performances.

Just saw the highlights and Manzoor's shot was something you expect from a number 11 in village cricket.

i still dont understand why they dropped Faisal and picked Manzoor. Okay Faisal wasnt all that great... but its not like they dropped Kallis and picked Ponting...
They picked one mediocre for another mediocre... These changes are pointless....

It was a tail ender shot to get out, and to be honest I was not surprised.

The question I will ask again is: How on earth has this guy been picked for Test cricket ??

Do the selectors even look at the techniques of batsmen before they are chosen ??

There has to be better batsman with reasonable solid techniques somewhere in Pakistan - no matter how pathetic the domestic structure is.

Lets see what does he do in 2nd innings.
By the way, Hobart is the best place a newcomer can hope to get in Aus.

One thing can be so clearly concluded by the performances of Rauf and Khurram that Pakistan has got no clue to pick winners from losers.

    Manzoor has an awful technique.

I still can't believe how he is playing for Pakistan.

Ahmed Shazad looks more promising than this guy.

Even the channel nine commentators could pick, by looking at his grip, that he is more of a leg side player.

Guy was pathetic, and should have never been picked. Fawad would have been more of a good, clever choice

He has been in some crazy good form of late in List A matches. I Think he has over 400 runs in last 6 matches. Without a doubt one of the best players of spin in Pakistan.

Has he improved against pace? Still only 26..

Looks like some people just won't give credit to Manzoor. When some new guy like Hussain Talat or Imran Butt scores a couple of 50s, threads pop up about them. But Manzoor's mountain of runs is being dismissed by saying oh his runs just show how poor our domestic cricket is.

Well said. Domestic cricket is the same whether it's Babar Azam, Imran Farhat, Khurram Manzoor, Kamran Akmal or Mohammad Rizwan.

I don't think he was given a fair run when you compare him with the parasites like Imran Farhat and Faisal Iqbal.
In my opinion, Khurram Manzoor was an extremely rare type of batsman that propped out of Pakistani batting culture. His uniqueness was him being a back-foot player something that we usually see in the Indian batting culture. I think he would have proved quite handy if he had been given a proper run under a good BATTING coach instead of Mr. Waqar Yonus.

It is sad that Khurram Manzoor hasn't been named in the 30 probables for CT. I am assuming the final squad is made out of these people and not other players.

He's in great nick and we could give him a chance to show his ability. I think he hasn't had many good chances, he's only played some 4 or 5 ODIs -- this could be it.

I think you are allowed to pick people not in the 30 man squad.
