PakPassion Cricket League - CAPTAINCY VOTING THREAD

So the applications for captaincy are now over and we have some credible contenders to take control of their own teams in the very first season of PakPassion Cricket League (PPCL).

We have 13 candidates and we'll have at least 6 teams meaning we need a minimum of 6 captains, so half the candidates will miss out unfortunately.

Potential Captains can do some campaigning in this thread, but please keep it within limits and don't go overboard. Friendly banter is welcomed in this competition.

However, who gets chosen is up to you. Check out the what the potential captains had to say below on why they should be captains and then vote in the poll. You have 2 votes each, so vote for the two who you think are the best to lead a team. You are not allowed to vote for yourself. Anyone caught voting for themselves will have both of their votes removed (we can see who has voted for who).

You have until 9th April 2012 11:00am GMT to cast your votes.

Who am I ?

I'm a young man living in a cave near Torkham. I spend the day drinking green-tea and Afghani naan. I can't afford chicken or meat but that's fine. In my free time I play volleyball. All my life, I've concentrated on one thing and one thing only. To lead a team in the PP cricket league.
I always dreamed about one day getting this opportunity and now That dream can become a reality if you want it to be!


Why chose me?

Ever since a young age I've been in contact with Nasir Hussain, arguably Englands best cricket captain. He has trained me and made me become the leader I am today. A tactical genius with all the traits of a brave leader.

After I was sixteen, I was in contact with a few bowlers who showed me the art of ball tampering and how to make the ball swing. This advantage can make a losing match turn into a convincing victory. To do it without the umpires noticing is an art I'm proud to hold and one which I'll be proud to pass on.



What have I achieved in the past?


Some of my accomplishments are the following :


-Player of the series of the under 6 cricketing tournament.
-6 time man of the match in Gali cricket rawalpindi
-Accomplished ball tamperer and Vaseline applier to cricketing balls.
-Bowled the fastest ball in my region. (The batsmen blocked the ball but the pace and force of the ball caused a gaping hole in the bat and led onto the wickets, which needless to say, also broke in half).



What strategy do I believe in?


Attack. Attack. Attack. There is no reason to defend. Even if we bat first, rather than defending our total in the second innings, WE SHALL ATTACK

Why me: I've been a member of PakPassion for 5 years and have taken part in multiple PP Leagues as player, vice-captain, and captain. I have experience as a captain and I've always been one of the more active members on this section. Also, I'm a former PP moderator and have the experience to mediate when necessary.

I think I can be a good captain because I am the captain of my school.
Been a member for a year but was a lurker for ages, also active in other forums which I can't mention here.

However, I really do feel that there are more deserving people than me i.e inswinger, cover_drive, izeeshan.

Why?: I've been trained by PPL's legendary captain McBoom (), winning the PPL once as a trainee manager and then leading the side to another title in my 1st or 2nd (can't remember clearly) season in charge.
I've also organised a few of the PPL tournaments previously so I have experience of how things work...and as they say, experience is invaluable.

Lahore Leopards: Player and then later Captain.
Zimbabwe in WTestC: Managed the side into the Semi Finals, not losing a single game till then.
...a few other teams but those two are probably the best achievements.

Name: Zeeshan

Why? Why NOT? I've been an active member of PakPassion for around 7 years now and am quite well known by most of the members

I was a part of the PP Leagues, as captain too, when they first started but had to subside from them due to college starting and being busy amongst other things, but these days I'm completely free from all commitments and ready to manage a squad like it's my full-time job

I'm extremely excited for these league to start and would love to by captaining my own team to victory. There is no other option, obviously. I play to win.

Right, so, pick experienced, popular, and long-standing members of PP and this will surely be a successful league!

Why?: Well I have been an active member on pp for over 4 years now and even though I have not managed a PPL team in the past, I have still followed most of the PPL season closely so i know what it takes to manage a team and I was also a part of the Dhaka Dynamite squad which won one of the ppl season(cant remember which one)

Why choose me? Well, i have managed teams in similar cricket sim leagues in the past, but not on PP. I had a short stint as co manager with Hammad and BOI on one of the Pakpassion's cric sim leagues. What i did there was helped Hammad and BOI in squad selection.

Though, I may not have lead a team in PP leagues alone, to be honest.... But i have always followed PP leagues with much interest, infact, PP leagues was one of the reasons why i Joined Pakpassion, but after i joined, leagues just stopped.....

I usually spend alot of time playing cricket simulation games, so i know how these game simulations work, so i have got a bit of knowledge on these simulation games...

Why Choose me: From a captain, you expect leadership. You expect an experienced eye that can get you through the problems that inevitably pop up. I have seen these leagues run from all points of views. I have organized similar leagues on PP (multiple times), I have captained sides (multiple times) and I have played as simply a player (multiple times).

Adding onto all of that experience is my time on PP (over 4 years). I am a moderator and I have become a well established poster on the forum.

Mindset as Captain: We play to win. I have dropped myself in past experiences in order to win, so I expect my players to be ready for this.

Why me: I am a regular member of Pakpassion, for more than a year now. I don't think there is a single day I don't visit Pakpassion so I can get in touch with you people easily and therefore I feel I will be able to manage the team efficiently.

Why me: Been a part of PakPassion since the last 3 years, active everyday and regularly post on the forum. More importantly, also been active in the PP Leagues forum in the past two years, playing as a player, vice-captain, and captain in the PPL seasons. Experienced with the Syedur Rehman Cricsim being used, and how it works (learned from Boi/KU92), and so will try my best to make the correct decisions for the team to be victorious! Simulated and done commentary in many PPL and other tournament matches in the past (from Cricsim). Also managed teams in PP World Cup, Test Championship and T-25 Champions league tournament, run by PPer hasanb.
