The 'London 2012' Thread

Anyone on here going to watch this closely?

Post any London 2012 related posts here.

Always interested how the basketball scene goes in the olympics.

Will be interesting to see the USA team that gets sent - since the Dream Team of the mid-90's, they have failed to send their best players over and have always opted to send a second or even third-string side.

Will they sport their best players this year? Will Londoners get to see Lebron, Wade, Westbrook, Bryant, Rose etc.?

Also - does Pak stand a chance at the Hockey this year?

Field hockey is our only chance. Even then things don't look good with some of the other sides that are much stronger.

Yeah bhai ! Just checked , I think only hockey team have qualified until now. But with countries like Australia,Germany, Netherlands, Spain and Britain we just have slimmest chance for podium finish.

India have few good medal hopes like Mary Kom , Sarita Devi , Gagan Narang , Abhinav Bindra , Saina Nehwal , Deepika Kumari , Archery Womens team , Mens doubles tennis , mixed doubles tennis , Vijender singh(even though not yet qualified) , Vikas Krishnan , Sanjeev Rajput , Sushil kumar (even though not yet qualified), Jawala Gupta and Ashwini in doubles badminton(slim chance).

But lets see

I'm working in accreditation at the archery, though I don't know the full details of when yet.

Other than that I'm looking forward to the men's cycling road race (c'mon Cav!) and a potential duel between Mo Farah and the legendary Kenenisa Bekele in the middle distance running events.

that's a typical sub-continent mentality. That's why we are so lagging behind in Olympic sports . Really we needs to grow .

I cant see any athlete from sub continent countries in Swimming , diving ,gymnastics, cycling , generally we can say athletics. Why so?

I feel sorry for the organizers and all people in the UK. They are going to try so hard and yet fall short of capturing the magic and atmosphere of the Vancouver Olympics. Unfortunately, London had the impossible task of following an event as magnificent as the Vancouver Olympics. Maybe it will be better than Beijing?
