Records held by Pakistani players?

Is Afridi the Pakistani player with the most amount of individual records?

* Fastest ODI century
* Highest ODI scoring rate
* Highest Test scoring rate
* Most ODI sixes in a career
* Best ratio of runs to sixes in Test cricket (over 1000 runs)
* Joint highest number of sixes in an ODI innings
* Only player to hit 4 sixes off the first 4 balls of an over in a test match

Did I miss anything?

What about the other players?

Waqar has the lowest strike rate post-war and Anwar has the highest ODI score. But which player has the most records?

Afridi may be the only batsman in test cricket to hit 2 successive centuries with a strike rate above 100 in both innings

No that would be, which player has the highest average or the most centuries in a losing cause.

These records are about speed of scoring and wicket taking, winning records as opposed to accumulation type records!

It would be interesting if there was some kind of rankings list of batsmen scoring 20 runs or more in one over - I'm sure Shahid Afridi would hold the record of achieving that feat more than anyone in the history of one-day cricket!

It might only be 20 runs off 6 balls, but its the 'effect' it can have - 1) it totally demoralises the oppostion bowling , 2) 20 runs or less is the difference between winning and losing in most one-day games, and lets face it , a target of 250 looks so much easier to get than a target of 270 in one-day cricket (and likewise, a target of 270 looks a fair bit smaller than one of 290), similarly when batting second, being 100 from 15 overs looks so much more commanding a position than being 79 from 14 overs.

Just one over of Afridi going 'berserk' and hitting 20+ runs (and its something he does very consistently for a player who takes the kinds of risks he does).. lets face it, can be the difference between winning and losing an ODI match.

So to think that when Afridi goes 'berserk' not once, but twice in the same innings in a one-day match and hits two overs for 20 or so runs -- and he's done this a few times - well, that's 40 runs or so from 12 balls!! it totally destroys the opposition morale and confidence!

O come on merc... the 4 sixes off the first 4 balls is kind of lame That is like... (for eg.), Salman Butt ist he only player to have played a test over in the following way: 0 2 0 2 0 nb nb 6.

I think though Afridi might have the highest strike rate in two consecutive test innings centuries.

It was mentioned by the commentators in the match so i included it. Kapil has the record for 4 consecutive sixes in the last 4 balls of an over.

what the..

If Kapil has the record for last 4 sixes, then our sher can have the record of the first 4 sixes

Just thinking about it... has Afridi ever hit the first ball of his innings for six? Or neone for that matter? Or how about.. the most # of boundaries (or sixes probably) hit in the first over of an innings? (ODI or test).

I don't remember Afridi ever hitting 2 sixes in the first over of an ODI match though..

And another record Afridi would surely hold, linked to the above, would be the batsman who has most frequently hit back to back sixes!

In fact, I'm sure he holds the record for the batsman who's hit 3 sixes in an over too most often...

He's done this at least a couple of times that I remember..

I remember Afridi hitting Agarkar for a six off the first ball he faced in the Sahara Cup in Toronto some yrs back, and I still remember it was Boycott doing the commentary at the time with Gavaskar and they were talking about 'teckneeq' (or Afridi's lack of it) and Afridi being a bit 'senseless', and then Afridi hits six of his first ball - "Haha - dont worry about that, that was six the moment he hit it, it came right out of the meat of the bat, there you go Sunny - you dont need to think when you can hit the ball as hard as this lad can! ".

I can't remember the other match but it was fairly recently..

Yeah those are some records worth looking into majid =P

also afridi may have the most partnerships that result in the highest S/r as well.. because often the batsman at the other end gets a rush of blood to their head as well (have seen it happen quite often to our greats inzi & saeed all the time...) Generally everyone scores faster if they're batting with him!

Wasim Akram tied the record number of 6s in a test innings.

Wasim is the only player to get over 400 wickets in both forms of the game

Wasim has the highest number of hat-tricks. 2 in Tests and 2 in LOI.

No one has broked as many hearts as Afridi has

No one has broken as many stumps as Waqar has

Waqar has brought more men down to their knees than the rest combined.

Only Wasim and Waqar have managed to sweep Lara off his feet, literally

Shoaib has injured left handed batsmen more than anyone else

Well I would back Harbajhan Singh to surpass that record some day, albeit the batsmen will be down on one knee (looking to hit the ball out of the park ala Afridi )

Or maybe Irfan Pathan, he would have batsmen on their knees in laughter if he carries on with these 75mph bouncers of his bouncing twice by the time they reach the batsman and then having the cheek to stare at the batsman as if he's Malcolm Marshall in peak form!

Bump!!! A random bump really having been reminded by my 'mind' of a great, great sports or cricketing record.

Mushtaq Ahmed
The only cricketer or sportsman to hold a 'Walima´h' 17 years his marriage.

Now that seems unbreakable to me, particularly when it requires 17 years and a bit (more) to go past it. On top of all, you need a good wife who would agree to wait that long to be able to wear that 'special' dress ('Lehnga' etc. or whatever) .
