Codemasters to release 'Ashes Cricket 2009' - Set for July 2009

Here's a preview:

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/spor...&mode=previews

Hopefully this turns out to be a good cricket game. What do you guys think? The good thing is they've developed the engine from scratch.

They've only licensed Aus and English players. What a waste.

That means you'll have Yanis Kon, N Dhobi and Kris Fayle in the other teams!!

Will this be out on the Wii? If it is then I'm getting it

relax guys....you can always change the names, so it's not such a big deal. I'm more worried about the gameplay. But yeah, sponsoring all the teams would have been nice.

Pretty stupid to call it "Ashes Cricket"

It's unfair to the rest of the game.

I'm excited for it anyway and hopefully it will appear on the Wii, or a torrentsite for the PC

I don't think Ashes Cricket 2009 will be more enjoyable game. Trust me

It's hardly any improved by looking at the game video background during the Ricky Ponting interview. However, i believe EA Sport will be a lot different. EA Cricket always surprise with different updated game.

Well there are 50% chances of EA's Cricket game to be released. The game was to be released in the first week of May but wasn't released due to some problems. The date expired and now it's up to the EA.

As far about Ashes Cricket 2009, the game will be releasing in first week of July and 18th July in Australia. The Wii version will be coming later on this year or may be early next year.

You can view all the information released about Ashes Cricket 2009 HERE.

Ditto. The last Brian Lara was crap. It was horrible, and so unrealistic. At least Cricket 2007 had some sort of realism and was challenging in aspects.

This just looks like the same game play. I do not know why they changed, the 2000 system was one of the best I seen. It was easy but pretty realistic in that spinners could get edges to slip or to the keeper!

Lets hope EA comes out with a game because this one looks garbage.

Till that game, EA used to develop games with Creative Assembly but after Cricket 2000, HB-Studios came and entered .

It's going to be very different from BLIC and EA's 09 is a garbage game than this. Just wait for trailers and I am sure you will change your opinion.

I have always found games released by Codemasters to be far inferior to cricket games released by EA. This one doesn't look too different either.

Codemasters always put extra effort than EA hence they make better games. As far about cricket captain, I don't think so there will be a game from them this year.

I remember the background music to the old Brian Lara -

'Butter feel good, Butter feel high'

Or at least that's what we used to take it to say.

Also classic made up player names such as ThuriNanga (Tharanga) and GilChurch (instead of GilChrist)!

At least we know who roughly they are , will we be able to edit there names
Yes you will. On the PC there will probably be a patch out within days, but for the consoles, it might take a while, or you might have to do it yourself.

But the feature of changing the names is in the game.

PS3's are region free, therefore you can grab a copy from anywhere in the world, and it'll work on your PS3

Are you 100% sure? I don't wanna be spending 80 bucks on something that I won't be able to use.

I thought ps3 has two versions, european and the US?

can someone confirm please?

If you still have doubts, just send Codemasters an email, and they'll probably get back to you in a day or two.

You guys should probably wait for some reviews to come out before spending your hard earned cash on a game which might not be all that good anyway.

I'll be purchasing mine from a game store which has a good return policy. That way if it's no good, I can simply return it, no questions asked.

IGN and some other gaming sites should have reviews before the release

So turns out this game wont be region free, which means I wouldn't be able to play it on my XboX 36o. This sucks big time.

Not sure yet myself.. Since none of the stores actually know the release date, I'll probably wait till it's released and then find the cheapest place. Right now I've seen prices around $60 CDN for the PS3.

I've added you on MSN

Ashes Cricket 09 on PS3,XBOX360 AND WII

To all the cricket lovers out there this game is being released on August 7th should be pretty sweet. Does anyone know if this game is region specific on a PS3 or if it will be released in Canada as well or is it just being released in the UK and Australia. I have provided a link to one of the reviews if you guys want to check it out.
