Qari Abdul Basit - Tilawat of Surah Rahman

Just wanted to share this link with you guys, it is the tilawat of Surah Rahman by the late Qari Abdul Basit (from Egypt) at Badshahi Masjid, Lahore in 1961 :




Subhaanallah, what a heavenly voice this late Qari had.

Here is another Qari but he is from South Africa. MashALLAH he is very good as well

Qari Abdul Basit is also the name of imam saab of the masjid I go to. MashaALLAH, he too has a great voice/tilawat

Abdul Basit had an amazing voice - i believe his recitation of Surah Rahman in Badshahi Masjid was recited infront of around 10,000 people maybe more! i have heard 50,000 too but the point is, it was a lot of people lol
i had a friend whose uncle had listened to Abdul Basit live, and he said actually being there and listening to him was 100 times better than what it sounded like on tape

Egypt has given us some excellent qaris mashallah, Mustapha Ismail, The Minshawi family and Muhammed Rifat to name just a few from the past and currently the likes of Yasir Sharqawi and the Shahat brothers

this is the tilawat of imam saab of our local masjid in desplaines currently he is out of country for 5 long weeks and man i miss his tlawat i am addicted to his QIRAT
