They looked lost up front this season without Villa dragging defenders around with his off the ball movement. Sanchez is good but not an out and out striker like Villa.

Lets not forget Villa was struggling too before his injury and was in and out of the side mainly because I don't think he was being played in his natural position.

Villa is a terrific finisher and a natural predator but he's only one when he's played there. I hope Vilanova restores him in his original position when he comes back rather than fitting a square peg in a round hole so to speak.

Probably makes sense given Hazard's European experience. Lucas could be an expensive gamble.

Can this thread not be used to sprout garbage off twitter; Only reliable stuff from proper journalists and websites.

If Tottenham sign Vertonghen and recall Caulker; The CB area is extremely strong with Jan,Kaboul,Dawson and Caulker.

No suprise that Swansea have a great defensive record with Caulker.

Walker-Caulker-Vertonghen-Ekotto
Lennon-Modric-Parker-Bale
---------------Rafa----------------------

Just need a top class striker; Hope Ade signs and maybe Remy but if Spurs were prepared to swap Higuain for Modric then put Higuain as striker and put Huddlestone as Luka's replacement and then buy Modric back in 1 year after he is on the bench.

No suprise Vertonghen turning down Arsenal; Always in our shadow no matter higher wages and CL football, Vertonghen appreciates history and prestige over £.

Credit must be given to Lille for putting up with Hazard... He sure is a Hazard, no doubt about that.

A player who is playing mind games - talking about nearly every club, a merc basically... He's a ideal example of today's footballers compared to the likes of Adams, Bergkamp and any other commited player.

Chelsea - City - United : Negociations with Hazard are over !?

Every propositions are on the table, the best Ligue 1 player is "now thinking", and will make his final choice after his two upcoming matches with Belgium.

We have just contacted his agent, John Bico. He is point-blank :
"One reads many false informations in the papers, it seems very complicated, very long because of the salary issues. It is untrue. We have received the propositions of every club interested, Eden isn't negociating anything anymore because everything is now clear. He just wants a bit more time to make his choice. There will be no try to get higher bids. He will make up his mind after the matches against Montenegro and England, and then he'll go on vacation with an eased mind"

So, Chelsea, United, or its neighbor City ? Answer will be given within two weeks ...

He will fit perfectly with other mercenaries at Citeh and Chelski.

arsenal will sign Dembele, you should have really gone for Vertonghen aswell, would have made a good partnership with Vermalen.

Hmm Hazard is really starting to take the biscuit, oh well, I guess we won't get Joe Cole, although wouldn't mind to see Torres at West Ham, yes I'm not joking in January we tried to bid for him, but realisticily I'd also like to see Defoe and Joe Cole here.

Vertonghen doesn't want Arsenal; Tottenham is his first choice because he said he likes playing in front of passionate fans and not day trippers.

If we get Hazard, he better turn out to be good otherwise he's gonna get ripped apart.

Hyped up a lot at this age. Now with this being dragged out, he's not looking too good. Hopefully, he makes the decision quickly.

Vermaelen's partnership with Koshcielny this season has been one of the best in the Premiership.

Need a back up defender, and Vertonghen wouldn't want that squad status.

Bayern are after Javi Martinez, this year they were without schweinsteiger for 4 months. They realised now that they need another top midfielder. Plus for Javi Martinez is he can play CB too.

I think Kroos, Gustavo, Tymoshuk, schweinsteiger n Martinez is a excellent centre mid.

Spurs is his first choice; He has said it himself.

Maybe a big club like Milan or Munich but he wants to move to the Premier League and Spurs is the only team he would play for.

Just from the Guardian and a much more reliable source.

Very excited now; One of the best CB's in the world for £9.6mill is a bargain.

^Vertonghen is a good signing. I feel Spurs also need to strengthen their attack. What's going on with Adebayor? Is he going to go back to City? Don't know why people are deriding Tottenham. They had a great season and played some excellent football. Really unfortunate they won't be playing CL football next season. And unlike some teams they didn't splash ridiculous amounts of money to get to where they are today. Their growth has been organic.

I never said that I will only leave Ajax for Tottenham. I only said that they are my preferred option,” he told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwesblad.

I don't think they are the only team he would play for

You honestly believe if say Man-U came in for him he would reject them to join Spurs?

£35M??

Really?

Is he actually worth that much. He's great player, but £35M is a bit excessive I feel.

If Carroll is worth £35million, then surley Hulk is... Especially if you consider the fact that Hulk in better then Caroll in terms of quality.

I think it is a fair price, Aguero cost similar, Atletico paid more for Falcao

Hulk would have no issues adapting to the Premiership so not a risk

Hulk's 108kmh goal on youtube is a big hit! Thing with Hulk is that he's a great talent! And great talents don't like sitting on the benches for too long, so if he does come to Chelsea I feel that the recent players we are being linked with (Lavezzi, Hazard if signed) would restrict his playing chances.

According to the Daily Mail, MU are closing in on both Kagawa and Hazard.

I first thought we will only get one of them, but if we get both it will be amazing. Imagine an attack of Rooney-Kagawa-Hazard-Valencia/Nani. LETHAL.

Looks like Arsenal are showing an interest in Giroud at montpelliar and also trying to off-load chamakh! that would be an excellent move on both parts.

we need top qaulity players in and the deadwood out!

The Daily Mail are a bunch of tossers, even if this does turn out to be true.

So, what would our starting 11 look like with Hazard and Kagawa? Maybe we could use a 4-1-2-1-2/4-4-2 diamond with Hazard on the left and Kagawa as CAM?

Hulk in discussions with Chelsea - This should clear the way for Hazard towards us, City have Nasri and Silva to keep happy and Chelsea have Mata, Marin and maybe Hulk!
