Euro 2012 l PP'ers watch on best performers in the tourney

We can probably have a poll once the tourney is over. Before that i guess the panel must start discussing top performers.

My picks so far -

Forwards-
Shevchenko
Gomez
Mandzukic

Midfield -
Modric
Arshavin
Schweinsteiger
Gerrard

Defence-
Lahm
Rossi
Hummels

Goal keeper-
None other than Neuer

Dzagoev has to be in there, 3 goals in 2 games

Also Pirlo was much better in his match than Modric or Gerrard

This is going to be Iniesta's euro, in first two games he looked unplayable, lets see if he can carry it to knock out games.

well he is a much better keeper than Robert Green so he was always going to keep him out of the side

Joe Hart is a class keeper BUT I guess he was understandably nervous, it is his first major tournament

Pirlo for me has been the star man so far, the guy makes the game look so easy.

in defence Hummels has easily been the best, and the theory that he hasn't got much pace has been put to rest.

Hummels doesn't have pace BUT you don't necessarily need it and he has shown that. He is very good in the air, wins a lot of headers and he is very comfortable on the ball

Iniesta has been immense so far. Ball seems to be stuck to his feet. My guess for player of the tournament.

An other player that has not been mentioned here. Daniele De Rossi. Make shift CB and has been doing really well. Him and Pirlo Italys best players so far.

Veloso has been immense for Portugal. No-nonsense player and puts great deliveries into the box.

Dzagoev is looking good too with his impressive tally, I feel that the Ukrainian wingers can cause England some problems (Yarmolenko and Konoplyanka).

Pirlo completely outplayed Xavi and Modric in the two games.

De Rossi has also been playing well as a sweeper.

I would say that Pirlo have a more attacking role than Xavi, Modric

Xavi is making sure that Spains Passing flow.

Pirlo have been best so far IMO.

Pirlo didn't outplay Modric.

Put Modric into Italy's side and watch him flourish, A passer like Modric is only as good as the players he passes to.

Pirlo went missing in the 2nd half anyway.

So you are comparing a 33 year old Pirlo to Modric who is in his prime and is 26

Modric will never reach the level of Pirlo.
