How do you guys see this damage?

Hi, this is the pic of my GM 707 plus.
These cracks were caused by the mallet, nothing too serious, was doing ordinary knocking and all this happened. I took off the scuff sheet and applied some oil.
I am not sure why this has happened and how to get rid of it in future, suggestions would be warmly welcomed.

looks bad . My younger brother once got an actual hammer and started smashing my bat and the damage looks similar to that of your bat .

I heard GM has very good customer service. Did you try to contact them? But I think it all boils down to if you want to fix it on our or pay shipping and refurb fee to GM.

probabaly the edges of the mallet are the cause because it might have been struck too hard

It looks like the bat was too dry (lack of moisture or was not oiled properly).
I would contact GM as these cracks should not occur through knocking in with a mallet.

contact GM or the guy who gave you the bat. GM has awesome service. they may send you a new bat, without asking you to send the damaged bat. worth a shot.

In similar situation , but the cracks are 2-3mm long on the face of the bat, around 4 or 5 cracks, is that normal? had put 3 coats of Oil before knocking with a hard wood mallet.

These cracks often appear if the bat face is struck too hard with a mallet. These wont affect the performance and bat will still play well and last long.
