Akhtar joins social media bandwagon

LAHORE - Akhtar launched his official website taking the virtual world a storm. When asked about the launch of his website, Shoaib Akhtar asserted that “My fans are my source of encouragement and support. I am truly thankful to all my fans across the globe that have constantly stood by me, backed me, and inspired me to play the game that I truly love. It is because of them I launched my official website”. He further added, “Having a global fan following, the best medium to interact and reconnect with one’s fan is through social and digital media as it has the capacity to transcend spatial boundaries.”

A recent phenomenon that one cannot help but notice is the virtual presence of celebrities. Social media is extensively being used by celebrities to engage with their fans. Shoaib Akhtar being one of them, “Through my website and twitter account, I want to create a direct link with my fans.” Shoaib actively tweets from his twitter account; his tweets are highly interesting and provide an insight to his lifestyle.
