Elton's 'Marriage' Sealed With a Kiss

Sir Elton John and David Furnish have tied the knot and sealed their 'wedding' with a kiss.

The showbiz couple "married" in an emotional civil partnership ceremony at the Windsor Guildhall after 12 years together.

Only a handful of guests witnessed the private ceremony - held in the same venue where the Prince of Wales and Camilla Parker Bowles married in April. Among them were close friends artist Sam Taylor-Wood and her husband, art dealer Jay Jopling.

Jopling said afterwards: "They kissed at the end. It was very, very happy. It was just like any other couple getting married." Taylor-Wood added: "It was beautiful. It was very emotional."

Sir Elton's mother, Sheila, and stepfather, Fred, and Furnish's parents, Gladys and Jack, who flew in from their native Canada, were also there.

Jack Furnish described it as "one of the happiest days of my life" and a beaming Gladys said: "I'm very proud."

Sir Elton and Furnish's black-and-white spaniel Arthur was also a privileged guest.

The happy couple emerged from the Guildhall arm-in-arm after the 20-minute ceremony. Instead of their usual colourful attire, they wore sober black morning suits - Sir Elton's one flamboyant touch was a diamond brooch on his lapel.

The pop star greeted the crowds of well-wishers with a regal wave. He thanked them for their support and blew kisses, telling them: "I love you."

Sir Elton, 58, and Canadian film-maker Furnish, 43, posed happily for photographers but there was no public kiss.

The ceremony was conducted by registrar Clair Williams, who also presided over the union between Charles and Camilla.

After the ceremony, the couple left in a chauffeur-driven black Rolls-Royce. They returned to their nearby mansion to celebrate with an intimate family meal before the major festivities begin

They keep showing these gay boys on the news! How can gay people get married i dont get it, its just wrong lol! Your thoughts?

Any hole's a goal.

Allegedly.

Also it's not really a wedding but I guess that's more of a technicality than anything else.

And to be honest I'm not all that bothered by it. It isn't going to affect my life, the whole country isn't going to turn into a massive gay paradise with groups of camp, flaming homoesexuals going door to door trying to convert you like a bunch of colour co-ordinated Jehovah's Witnesses because of the new laws so I couldn't care less

When they inevitably divorce, will 'she' be entitled to half 'his' wealth?

And how long before they 'adopt' a child....

These people should have NO rights as they reject the most basic fundamental of human life.

They should be rounded up and stoned to death - failing that, throw them all in Guantanamo Bay.

i understand your anger but i think these disturbed people should be sent for physcological treatment rather that death.

i can imagine bush declaring war on all the homo's in the world and sending them to guantanamo saying they are a threat to our way of life!!

Hey it would make him slightly popular in the muslim world!!

Gay people are going to be around regardless of how you treat them. It's just a matter of how they are accepted. just like any minority group, I respect their right to make their own choices, as long as it doesn't cause harm to anybody else.

Therefore, I have no problem with gay relationships being recognised.

I'd like for you to try to explain to your kids(if and when you have any), of why his best friend has 2 Dads! Where's the momma, if the kid finds out about his adoption, he'll want to see his real parents.

It creates a social imbalance! Also imagine the kid going to school telling his m8s how his "parents" were at it.

However, on that point you have raised, whilst I think its a case against adoption, and not gay relationship recognition. I do have a question.

Would it be ok for a gay couple to adopt a child if it meant them having a better chance at life? For example, a child that nobody else would adopt and left without any parents at all? Or perhaps take the celebrity example of some, who adopt poverty striken kids from poor nations. Would this still be morally reprehensible?

I'm interested in the answers to that question.

As for your point about explaining why somebody has 2 dads. I get your point, many people would struggle with it, although I don't think I would. Kids are naturally inquisitive, you're right, and it could well be tough for a child of a gay couple. But bear in mind, it can be tough for any kid with any parents. "why can't his dad talk English?", "why does his dad have only 1 arm?", "why does his dad have that big ugly thing on his face?", "why is his dad so slow (mentally impaired)". People aren't stopped from having kids in these situations although it can make peer acceptance very difficult as well. I remember when i was quite young, one kid getting a hard time because his father was disabled. That wasn't fair on the kid either, but that doesn't mean that his father was any less of a father.

To be honset, I hadn't thought of this question till you raised it,and im' not sure i've made my mind up on it.
