Now Inzi tells us that India are favourites....whateverrr!!!

Inzi feels India are favourites as our performance against England counts for little

Dont know about the players but I am certainly losing the plot !!!

Pakistan captain Inzamam says India are favourites
Yahoo Sports News
Sun 01 Jan, 11:22 AM

LAHORE, Pakistan (AFP) - Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq tipped India as favourites in the forthcoming Test series, saying a home advantage and Pakistan's recent series win over England would count for little.

"We will need to work extra hard. For me, India will be favourites in the series," Inzamam told reporters ahead of the three Tests and five one-dayers -- the third series between the arch rivals in two years.

India arrive on January 5 and start the tour with a three-day side match against Pakistan 'A' on January 7. A final tour itinerary is likely to be released on Monday.

Inzamam said the victory over England would not be of great help.

England came to Pakistan on the back of their September Ashes triumph, their first in 18 years, but lost the three-Test series 2-0 and the one-day series 3-2.

"The win against England is a thing of the past now, and since there is not much difference in pitches and other things in India and Pakistan, there will be no home advantage," said Inzamam.

Inzamam, who was in top form with 431 runs against England in three Tests, said India have an experienced squad.

"India has a strong batting line up and with Sourav Ganguly's return it has further strengthened. Although Rahul Dravid does not have experience as a captain he is a wise batsman and will mature as captain."

The Pakistan captain, however, said histeam have an edge in fast bowling.

"Our fast bowlers did well against England and in that department we have an edge over India. I think my quicks have the ability to help us beat India," said Inzamam.

Express paceman Shoaib Akhtar took 17 wickets in Tests against England and with his changed attitude and resolve looked a transformed bowler. Pakistan also have Mohammad Sami, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan and fit-again Umer Gul.

Inzamam said Pakistan match India in the spin department.

"We are not weak in the spin department because we have Danish Kaneria, Arshad Khan, Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi so we can match India who have Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh," he said.

The Pakistan skipper said he wants pitches to assist his pace bowlers.

"I am thankful to Wasim Akram for advising us to prepare hard pitches keeping in view the good form of our bowlers in the series against England," said Inzamam, who will meet groundsmen on Monday to devise a strategy.

He disagreed that Pakistan rely heavily on him in batting and Akhtar in bowling.

"Salman Butt, Mohammad Yousuf and Kamran Akmal have batted well in recent matches, so has Afridi and in bowling we also have Naved, Kaneria and others who have done well."

Inzi is just playing games, its obvious. He feels going into a series as underdogs favours us, as there is less pressure.

Hashim - but the funny thing is , the reasons he gives for Indias advantage are simply mind boggling ! In one breath he says that we have good batsman and bowlers and in the other he claims that India have an advantage !! which is it ?

Yeah exactly meningreen, it is very strange.
Pakistan are in excellent form, our pace attack is now one of the most feared in the world, our batsmen our firing, the confidence is high we just beat England convincingly in the tests and ODI's, so what possible advantage has India got...and why admit they have this advantage...which they don't!

Guys he doesn't mean what he says, he is quietly confident but he doesn't want to boast or talk out of his backside, becoz he probably believes that it will backfire and something will go terribly wrong.

He is just being cautios. That is ALL, calm down everyone, let the cricket to the talking.

Exactly let the cricket do the talking, if he wants to be cautious then why not just say it will be a even matched series and so on, why put our own team down by saying India are advantages! Dont you feel the pakistan cap (especially the younger players like salmaan butt, Mohammad Sami and Danish Kaneria, Razzaq etc) will feel some pressure and lose some cnfidence knowing their own captain is saying the opposition has the advantage!

At times i feel dat inzi doesn't read da game dat well. Just look at da 2nd odi vs eng. He let them add 100 runs for the 9th wicket when v cud have easily restricted them 2 less than 150.

I think you are reading way too much into this statement.

Inzi knows that as the home team, they will be the team under most of the pressure. I think he made this statement trying to take some pressure off.

He is just playing games. He knows deep down that the 2 teams have an even chance and that pak maybe slight favourites.

This is true, but still i dont think he should have said that the Indians are advantages, he should ave just said that both teams are evenly matched and it will be a tight series....that is a cautious approch and he is not giving the Indians a complacent pak side.

I'm not sure why Inzy did say that.....Pakistan are the favourites to win.
On other hand the India have won in Pakistan and drew In India vs Pakistan in 2004/05.

Whatever it is.......India will be well prepared.....and will be very determined to win another series in Pakistan........right now the Indian camp is confident.

Thing is, if Inzi says this for public consumption, then he should give better examples of how India have an advantage.

Just saying that for the heck of it and then listing all Paks advantages or no clear advantage for India makes Inzi look very silly - we know that he is not a great public speaker - why look sillier by making incomplete statements ? He does great injustice to himself.

I'm not sure if it will boost thier players confidence and mora aswell by saying this. Just like you said he should have listed thier advantages. I also think he knows himself Pakistan are the favourites.

I'm not sure why Inzy is saying this.........me and certianly the Indian players know that Pakistan are favourites. I still dont think it will take any pressure off.......the Indian team knows to well that Inzy is playing games, to take pressure of his side. Lets hope Sehwag can do the early damage and make the bowlers lose thier line. Favourites or no favourites, India wont be under that much pressure, they won both series last time in Pakistan, and the Indian team will want to do it again.

But playa, the fact that they won the series last time will put them under pressure to win again ! They are unlikely to say that , well, we won it last time so who cares - lets have fun boys - Surfs' up whoohooo!!!

Jokes aside - the same pressure is on both - pressure to win!

well eng were actually da favorites then having beaten Aussies. Whereas we had just struggled to draw da test series against a weak caribbean side. We had not won a home series in 2 years. So this was da scenario going in2 da home series agnst eng and naturally eng were ranked as da favorites. But now v have a settled side and are confident having defeated eng so dont u think v deserve 2 labelled as an equally matched side agnst india or even as da slight favorites ?

What are you on about yaar. this is classic Inzi before every series. here's what I picked up from this article...

1 - India have the advantage
2 - we will have to work really hard to win
3 - performance against england doesnt count as it is in the past
4 - India have a strong batting lineup
5 - Pakistan has a strong bowling lineup
6 - our pacers have the ability to beat them
7 - our spin department is just as strong as theirs

he is telling the team not to let up. but to work really hard to win. It has worked every single series for him, why change?

You are right. Inzi always tries to show Pakistan as underdogswhen they play a quality opponent. I think he has lot of pressure on him as captain especially playing against India. He has it in the back of his mind that India won last time when they toured. If India win again this time at least he has something to fall back onto. He can always say that he had mentioned that Pakistan was a underdog for the series.

NICE, Is Inzi capable of giving these comments??? and i thought all he could say is "BOYZ PLAYED WELL". He is definetly maturing. But seriously, i don't see anything wrong with his statement. Good tactic on his behalf. Let Indian's feel that they are coming into this series as favorites 'n' Let Pakis do what they do best, Demolition work on the Field.

Inzy is behaving crazy. Its better to remain silent than to say oppositioons are favourates.
what does he want to achieve? It cannot be a mind game. no ways. And India re not favourates. they are not. India will be uinder tremendous pressure. India lost it last time in India. they cannot let it happen it again. Chappel - ganguly episode. and both together on tour.
Not thr right way to go Inzi. Win by playing cricket
