Najaf Shah looks a Good Prospect: Bob Woolmer
:-D
Seems he also watched the Hasan Raza 100? 6967: MZNA, (27 FEB 2005, 01H52:56) I have written many questions/ messages and none have been answered, I dont know the reason, whatever it maybe, I would like to bring few things under your notice. 1) Hasan Raza, do you know this guy? who has been discarded by Pakistan team. The reason I bring this up is his avg, that is not for one season but the consistency through out the season(s) what reason would you assume that he is not even consider for the probables? http://plus.cricinfo.com/link_to_da..._RAZA_07004174/ 2) Usman Tariq another budding prospect for Pakistan middle order http://plus.cricinfo.com/link_to_da...TARIQ_07020188/ 3) Najaf Shah, your thoughts on this bowler? Goodluck for the India series. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REPLY BY: BOB, (28 Feb 2005, 07h02:04) Hi mzna, 1. Yes he scored an excellent Hundred recently in Domestic cricket 2. Hopefully he will be looked at A team level 3. He looks a good prospect. Bob |

6982: MUHAMMADHASNAIN, (28 FEB 2005, 02H36:10)
Hello. I have a feeling you strongly disgaree with how I want to see the Pakistani cricket side approach the game. You usually don't reply to my e-mails. However, you're the expert here so I would only like to know what you think of how I want the side to be structured. Here is my side: 1. Salman Butt 2. Abdul Razzaq 3. Yousaf Youhana 4. Shahid Afridi 5. Inzamam-ul-Haq 6. Asim Kamal 7. Kamran Akmal 8. Muhammad Sami 9. Naved-ul-Hasan 10. Arshad Khan 11. Danish Kaneria I think that opening with Abdul Razzaq won't be a bad idea. He's played one down for Pakistan in the 1999 Cricket World Cup and he adapted quite well to English conditions, where playing the new ball seems particularly challenging. Moreover, I think we should play both the all rounders because the I think our bowling line up is rather inexperienced. Having six bowlers won't be a bad idea, especially if someone's injured during the game. Another question I'd like to ask you is that Younis Khan, as much as I have watched him, seems to fail more often at the top of the order than he does when playing lower down. Why is he still played at the top of the order at times? Maybe I'm wrong but you must have the data. Please check how much he averages at the no. 3 position. I suspect it will be lower by quite an extent when compared to his averages at other positions. I wish you the best of luck. I'm a great supporter of yours in spite of what the Dawn newspaper or Sarfraz Nawaz say. Hasnain -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REPLY BY: BOB, (28 Feb 2005, 06h56:05) Hi muhammadhasnain, I never strongly disagree with anyone and I hear what you say but Razzaq opening and no Younis Khan there I will disagree with you. Indeed you have left out Malik who is a fine player. I work with these players daily and am probably able to see more than others who are watching from a distance. Bob |

My guess is that Malik will play at number 6 (instead of Kamal) which means we might go in with four bowlers -- Sami, Rana, Kaneria and Arshad.
He also mentioned he has been impressed with Arshad. |

I'd go in with Afridi as second spinner for the first test at least!

Well, Bob has used the word "impressed" for almost every player he has been asked. Which is true too, i don't think he would be critizing any player or showing his dislike for any player on his website.

Najaf, Raza and Usman Tariq, will all probably end up going on the A tour. I, too believe that Malik will bat at 6 with YK at 3. I don't think that Afridi has enough variety to be played as a second spinner at Test level.

i would love to see asim kamal play a test match..
he has shown so much promise and rarely let us down. he is like a PURE batsman...no slightly bits and pieces...PURE batsman like dravid or damien martyn..purely batsman we NEED to give him the first test..because malik will get his chance to play in the ODI's..unfortunately asim kamal won't |

I work with these players daily and am probably able to see more than others who are watching from a distance. Malik is all set to bat at 6(or even 3 and Younis at 6). So Asim misses out again....oh well |

Quote:
Well Malik's scores in the past three test matches are 48 (run out), 59, 44, 53 not out, 6 and 41 (brave inning played through injury). How is Malik playing after those performances disgusting? Surely you can't really complain about him! Younis Khan will of course play since he has been the most successful player since Woolmer took over (5 test matches). I can see you preferring Asim Kamal over any of the two above as possible but his missing out certainly can't be described as disgusting. |
