No Pak players in ODI Bowling and Batting Top 10?????
Below are the Top 10 ODI Batsman, we have Inzamam and Mohammed Yousuf at joint 16.
1 A. Gilchrist AUS 809 2 R. Sarwan WI 790 3 R. Ponting AUS 785 4 M. Dhoni IND 779 5 A. Symonds AUS 774 6 M. Hussey AUS 762 7 G. Smith SA 759 8 K. Pietersen ENG 741 9 K. Sangakkara SL 736 10 Yuvraj Singh IND 735 We take a look at the Top 10 ODI Bowlers, this is what we will see: 1 S. Pollock SA 858 2 S. Bond NZ 762 3 G. McGrath AUS 756 4 D. Vettori NZ 750 5 B. Lee AUS 732 6 N. Bracken AUS 723 7 I. Pathan IND 713 8 I. Bradshaw WI 708 9 M. Muralitharan SL 701 10 C. Vaas SL 693 Only Rana Naved-ul-Hasan is at no. 14 in these ratings. The ones I have highlighted I would raise questions of why they make it into the Top 10. Either these ratings system need a rapid overhaul or Pakistan must be a poor ODI team ![]() How Pathan is no.7 I really dont know after that bad series in WI, Shane Bond who has been injured for years is no.2 it does not make sense, i suppose anything the ICC is not meant to make sense. Now Pakistan are a better ODI side than test side, we all agree on this but, I believe in the coming year, even in the WC i hope we will have our ODI players rise rapidly in the rankings. Who will the biggest risers in the ODI Batsman and ODI Bowlers rankings from the Pakistan team??? Who will make the most impact in the ODI series vs England??? I would love to read your thoughts on this topic. |

they played more matches probably, and the rating is not indicative necessarily of someones career.rather more his form. |

More matches has nothing to do with it..... it is just "current form" as you mentioned. Rana was in top 10 but he did not perform well in Pak 1-4 loss to Ind...hence the drop. If the player performs good in 2-4 consecutive series, he ranking just shoots up! |

Pathan deserves to be there, he is quite a handy bowler in ODIs.
Bracken? That is a very odd selection. Not lik ehe has done anything stellar as of late, just average. If anyone should be number one, it should not be Pollock. Brett Lee to me right now is the best one day bowler, I am shocked to see him at five. Plus how did Pollocks rating go so high to 858? Not like he did anything special either, just contained. |

3 Pakistanis batsmen are in the top 10 in tests! IND has only 1, AUS has 3, so does that mean that we have a much better batting lineup than IND and equally as good as AUS? .....ahh NO!

It is not based on “selection” – it is performance based and only the most recent performances count……..not just 1 or 2 matches…..may be 10-15 ODIs and 5-10 test matches. Basically if a player has a good “streak” going, he would keep climbing the rating! As far as Bond and Bracken are concerned, see for youself, how ranked bowlers compare with Pak bowlers in their last 15 ODIs.
Please note that; 1) Rana was in top 10 but dropped quite a bit after a poor series vs India. 2) Asif has not played 15 ODIs yet. |

When did Bond perform as far as I know the guy spends half his time sitting on the bench nursing injuries.

Player rankings dont matter at all. All I want is for Pakistan to do well as a team. Its no fun having three or four of your players in top ten and still playing rubbish cricker (as India has done for many years now).
We dont need stars. We need team men who can contribute to the team cause. Thats because we always have to pay the price of all of our superstars in one way or the other! |
