Cricketers And Pop Star Visit Mosque

Cricketers And Pop Star Visit Mosque
TEST cricketers Saeed Anwar and Saqlain Mushtaq and pop singer Jujnaid Jamshaid were visitors to a Nelson mosque last week.
The three spoke to a capacity audience at the Cross Street mosque on a visit organised by Minhaj–ul-Quran International (Nelson).
Although their coming to the area was not well publicised, the mosque was packed half an hour before their arrival.
The gathering began with a recitation of the Qu'ran which was followed by an ode of the prophet Muhammad.
The head imam of MQI (Nelson), Muhammad Saeed Hashmi, welcomed all of the guests, who had come from different sectarian groups.
He said the unification of Muslims was the top priority of MQI and its patron-in-chief, Dr Muhammad Thair ul Qadri.
Saeed Anwar, a reformed Muslim who actively preaches, had the privilege of speaking first.
He advised the crowd to portray the true image of Islam and follow the correct teachings of Islam in accordance to the Qu'ran and Prophetic traditions.
Saqlain Mushtaq, a reformed Muslim and current Test cricketer, was also delighted with the number of people who turned up to the mosque and encouraged the Muslims to stay united.
He told of his change in life and said in reality, his reformation was the beginning of his life.
Singer Junaid Jamshaid uplifted the crowd with his melodious voice in praise of Muhammad.
Muhammad Yousaf, president of Minahj-ul-Quran, said: "The function was a great success and hopefully something like this could happen in the future.
"We invited all three guests to come again, and hopefully they will accept our invitation".
