Happy 30th birthday to a bowler who should have gone down as one of the all time Pakistani greats.

Happy Birthday, mismanagement ended what could have been a great career...

As far as I know, he still plays domestic cricket in Pakistan... Obviously, not the force he use to be, but everyone has to do something for a living.

Well incase you are, he was an out and out fast bowler from pakistan. Before either shoaib or sami were even close to reaching the international level. He had a beautiful run up and action- very flowing. And boy was he QUICK!! In his first test match I believe he got a ten wicket haul on a relativley flat deck in Pakistan against the Kiwis. He could reverse it like anyone and could seam it around too, so he was far from one dimensional. Unfortunatley, his career was ended quite prematurely by a serious back injury- he was never quite the same again. Some people attribute this injury as the management's fault, as the captain made him bowl many overs in a row in Sri lanka or something, or perhaps it was just not meant to be as his body could not handle the pressures of International Cricket.

One thing remains though, Brian Lara said he was the best/most dangerous bowler he ever faced... who can blame him when that same man sent down one of the most lethal overs at the windies legend... every ball was basically a wicket-taking one... Lara looked clueless!

Happy Birthday Zahid saahib! Its rather unfortunate how injuries brought an abrupt end to a career that should have been a long and successful one. He is around the same age as Shoaib and I am sure he would have been playing at the moment, had the injury not intervened in his career

Lara never said he was the best....he said he was a yard and a half quicker than Waqar at that time. The rest are your words not his.... ;) there are videos of him popping up all over the net now.....and hte one I saw of him in Oz was blooooooody quick!!! Kinda tall and gangly but steeply bounce!

A very Happy Birthday to you Mr. Mohammad Zaid.

Would've been, should've been, could've been...please don't mention it and forget it. Allah has said the past should be behind us.

I wish , I'd give anything to see more Zahid footage...

I may have been mistaken, but I definatley remember reading an article; an interview by Brian Lara in which he stated Zahid was the most difficult bowler he faced... perhaps not the best, I guess that was my interpretation . Zahid was unrealistically quick, I bet he would have broken the hundred miles an hour barrier quite regularly... a real shame, but that's the past, no need to cry over things that we can't change. It was God's will, and thats that.
