If he is to play the 4th Test (Hafeez ie.) he should replace Faisal Iqbal at number 6. He is in good form with the bat a more than handy bowler and a very good fielder too.

Good move if it happens - the new, improved, unrestricted Hafeez would be a welcome addition our ODI squad.

Good opportunity for Hafeez- he has been in good form of late.

Although it is a shame to see Malik ruled our of the ODIs aswell.

Excelllent news !!!

should have happened earlier if the PCB was more proactive !!

Hafeez should be played as an opener in place of butt or taufeeq.

There is NO way Hafeez will REPLACE Shoaib Malik. They could be a formidable duo TOGETHER in the team, complementing each other.

Plenty of other non-contributing jokers that need to be got shot of...

I'm very happy for this guy. He has had to go through difficult times on and off the field. I believe he is an improved cricketer having spent time honing his batting skills. This is his opportunity to grab a permanent place in the team.

The below ODI 11 looks pretty good to me.

Hafeez
S Malik
Y Khan
Yousaf
Inzamam
Razzaq
Afridi
Akmal
R Naved
M Asif
S Akhter

Malik is the MAN, he has performed for us specially in ODI's.... he has a long career infront of him.

Hafeez should open the ODI's with Malik, both those two players will be really good, it will give Pakistan the opton of 30 overs of spin in ODI's and along with afridi all three are really tight bowlers.

In west indies who recently have produced pitches where medium pacers and spinners have been really python like in the middle overs

Malik is a fixture in the ODI side without doubt and if he continues his improvement the case will be the same for the test side. If Hafeez can score runs then he can go up the pecking order without a doubt. Any opener who can get 1 or 2 centurays can cement a run in the side, there is only so much the selectors, Woolmer and Inzi can do, if we havent the quality openers then there isnt much that can be done.

Maybe Hafeez has matured as a batsman and is capbale of scoring centurays at the highest level, without doubt there is space in the test side but in the ODI side we have Malik and Akmal who can open. I prefer that Malik and Akmal open in the ODIs with another batsman in the middle order.

I would say no.

We have a solid and powerfull middle order, with Younis, Inzi and Yousuf

Malik HASENT failed us, he has produced.

Down the order we have so many power hitters which we need....

I dont see how adding Hafeez who opens with most teams he plays for, and also bowls very use full spin will weaken us, we bat very deep this allows us to have yet another very usefull bowling option

1-Shoaib Malik
2-Mohammed Hafeez
3-Younis Khan
4-Mohammed Yousuf
5-Inzimam ul haq
6-Shahid Afridi
7-Kamran Akmal
8-Abdul Razzaq
9-Naved ul Hassan
10-Shoaib Aktar
11-Mo Asif/Gul/Sami/Nazir

That looks like a powerfull team

Hafeez is probably one of Pakistan's best fielder, he had a decent go early on after the world cup then they tried to bring him back as one down or at six and when he failed he was given the boot(like so many others), i think 20/20 has really helped in learning how to score quickly and this will be great for him in the one day.
Wouldn't mind giving him an oppurtunity to open, because that is what he started off as

they will handle them about as well as Farhat, Taufeeq, hameed or Salman will handle them.

Malik has the grit and Hafeez has already made 180 in Australia!

That looks a solid side on paper everyone bar Asif can bat, such a strong batting line up is needed in one day cricket plus we have wicket taking bowlers in Shoaib, Asif and Rana.
