Tendulkar
We all know Tendulkar never did justice to his talent and won India very few matches (less talented individuals like Inzi and Ponting have won their countries many more matches than he did for India) but one thing is certain. He made loads of runs in both forms of the game.
Now he is back after an injury and two opinions are there: 1. He is a spent force as far as run scoring is concerned. He can not even make selfish runs now. Or in other words, Tendulkar ke saamne aik shaandaar maazi hai. 2. He will again make loads of runs whether they count in victory or defeat. In other words, we will have more of the same from SRT. What dod you think? Last edited by Momo : 26th August 2006 at 22:32. |

SRT will be causing opening problems. Now Dravid can't open and one of the youngesters is likely to miss out.

Like Inzimam, Sachin is a class player and one of the great players of the age (even though it hurts me to say that as a Pakistani). I hope he can reproduce his form in the twilight years of his career.

I can't see him being the same Tendu. I think he has lost it. His experience, I believe, will come very useful for India. He adds the psychological afvantage, and I believe, also, that his runs will come in wins now.

Tendulkar should not be just seen from a small angle of how much runs he scored , how many matches he won for India .He had a huge impact on the game especially in India .If today India has master blasters like Shewag / Dhoni , it is due to the inspiration they got from watching Sachin play on TV when they were young .Also compared to the huge amount of fan following and wealth he accumulated , Sachin never had any controversy like wine , women , dugs etc . This is not an ordinary thing .Also he helped India win many matches indirectly with his bowling skills i.e created vital breakthroughs and was the most committed fielder .I wont say he is on par in fileding standards like Yuvaraj / Kaif but for his seniority and fame he was quite committed and fielded in which ever position the captaian wanted to .Also he was not a power grabber and when he realised that his batting was suffering due to Captaincy ,he quit it and focussed on his batting .There can be many more things that an be said of him apart from him as a Cricket batsmen that makes him extraordinary than most people . He keeps a very low profile and does not speak much .It is true that he is not in his best of form to score runs now and I really do not know how he will score runs in future .I know that Sachin is not a holy cow that he is beyond Criticism but at the same time I request people in PP to look at the bigger picture of Sachin before passing judgement on him .

F16, I agree to all of this. And I wrote pretty much the same things about him in another thread. |

Momo you have given a ludicrous touch and attempted to provide good sidetrack to the exasperating conversation, revolving around Hair etc. . I could not control gale afterwards, for the thread evoked an event, recounted by one of the acquaintances: after a ruling that all the cases in Pakistan's courts would be dealt with according to Islamic Shria, one of senior citizens bantered'' however the laws changed offspring wont take birth otherwise but the way they were doing''.
So conclusively I would presume to ask an innocent question at your proposition that Tendu would behave differently henceforth. In Punjabi our wise ancestors said'' POTRIAN DEY WIGRHEY KADHI NAHI SUDHREY'' i.e. Never circumstances influence one's inveterate bungling into palatable performance. ![]() |
