None of PCB official or Team Member attended Waseem Raja's Funeral
heard it on Indus TV, their reporter who is in England for coverage of PakvsEng series, said that NONE of PCB official or any team member attended Waseem Hasan Raja's Namaz-e-Janaza & that was really disoppointed to know. As Namaz-e-Janaza was offerend in UK and Sheher Yaar Khan himself was in UK. And atleast Inzi (as captain), YK (as Vice captain) & Zaheer Abbas (as Pakistan's senior player) would have attended. |

They were already in deep anguish over the ball tampering incident and so might not have had the mental strength to attend the funeral of Wasim Raja .But somebody from PCB could have represented .

I think we should leave the players out of this - but surely a PCB rep should have been there.

strange... but it could also have been a private, just family only occasion...

Also when was Namaaz -e-Janaza? It would have been held in London. The team may have already decamped West to Bristol by then.
There may be numerous reasons for this. |

private? I don't think so.
He has played for Pakistan, served our country. His brother played for country, worked for PCB. some one would have been there. I am not sure BUT it seems Namaz-e-Janaza was offered in same city on Sunday (day before 20/20 match) in which team was staying, so it was abit disoppointing |

20/20 was in Bristol. The prayers would have been offered in London. Therefore the players couldn't attend. Zaheer could have but who knows what their personal relationship is / was like so that he didn't feel the need. |

it was held day before 20/20 match between Pak & Eng. Ramiz Raja atteneded his brother Namaz-e-Janaza and was present in 20/20 for ocmmentory. so 1-2 senior players would have been there as well. |

Maybe but they were already in Bristol. Rameez may have intended to travel down in the morning in the first place. The players on the other hand would have had to make their own travel arrangements to get there and back in time for practice early the next day. Probably decided that it would not be practical. However Zaheer could have gone but that's up to him. |

Exactly.
Rather petty, pathetic and childish of people to start criticising the PCB for this. We do not know the full facts. It is quite possible his family wanted it to be a small and private occassion. |

My understanding of Muslim funerals is that attendance is fard kifayah - i.e. if a few attend, it does not remain compulsory for others.
You could argue that if it wasnt a private affair, then we are ALL potentially sinful for not attending! So I cthink we can stop the knocking.... |

i m not saying in anyway that it's sinful act or something like that.
It was bit sad to know, no body from PCB were present at funeral. just to show some respect Wasim Raja. |

At least Zaheer ought to have attended - he played with Wasim.
