no offense to you guys, but seriously toronto/GTA kinda blows...went there last summer and the drives from one place to another takes hours...the weather doesn't seem to be all that as you have pointed out...plus, i hate the leafs...ideal canadian city is vancouver...i will move there one day...smoke hydro sitting atop grouse mountain on a pleasant summer day...nothing can beat that...however, e-town will always be home base...

you would be terribly uncomfortable....the coldest it has ever been here is -47.8C or -54F but with the windchill (similar to humidex effect) it has gotten as cold as - 57.1C or -70.8F depends on when you come....in the summertime you would feel like you are at home because we get temps over the 30's regularly. theres always chores to do if your a kid growing up...in the summer you have to cut the grass and in the winter you have to shovel the snow off of your driveway..but snow isnt predictable... it could snow at the most inappropriate times(like a cricket match) and my dad would make me go shovel

you get used to it...i have an advantage though being indian and brown skinned i can handle extreme heat without my skin burning and being born and raised in winnipeg i can handle extreme cold because of experience

Man what a difference... from 80 F to -70 F.There sure are some weird places on our planet and Winnipeg is definately one of them!

that's a very positive way to look at it and another thing that i like is that even though you were born in Canada you are still a big cricket fan unlike my American born cousins don't give a toss about cricket...

i agree, its kinda boring but i dunno about depressing. in any case, you have to get used to it. in fact...i kind of like the tranquil surroundings (i always get this when i say this).

as for the snow...well im the kind of person who makes it in class on the last minute or a few minutes late, so you can imagine what snow does to me but to be honest, i kinda like walking in the snow as well (if you minus the winds, that is).

btw, visit the masjid for iftar. you're missing out.

well the buses are crap. i rode a bike all throughout (except last term when i stole the car from my ma). biking is really good in the summer, but in the fall it can be painful. winter is, obviously, out of the q.

oh btw, just a warning...watch the snow melt with some rain, then freeze into ice and then it being re-covered with snow. when you walk on that, you will be treading on thin ice...literally!!

as for the masjid, well the food (oh the variety), the lectures (only during taraweeh though) and in general, the atmosphere. its really cool. plus, you get baklawas

yes I am from Vancouver. I don't know...people say it's boring here but with my studies I don't have time to be doing so many different things. I guess I'm enjoying being in a smaller city after living in Vancouver for so long.

Funny when this thread was started I thought winter had arrived and we were in for a cold one. As it is, it's been incredibly mild and is just starting to show up.

Aurengzub.....you live in Edmonton? That is a shame I could have met you! I was in Edmonton during the past week on a busienss conference and I attended Eid prayer on Saturday Dec 30th at SportEx! It was such a dull Eid and so lonely because I sat there and knew no one at the prayer :S

Anyways, najaf what year are you in Waterloo? How come I still havent met you considering I live down the street!

damn dude that sucks!...hopefully next time you have a conference here, let me know beforehand...the sportex blows bigtime...i don't even know why they have it there every year...one year they had it right in rexall place in the rink...that was awesome, but it was difficult for old people to get down so they reverted back to the crappy sportex...

It's been surprisingly cold this winter in Kuwait. Temperates have gone to the lowest of 1 degree.

Average these days is around 9-10. That's cold for Kuwait. Really cold.
