How to increase Iman/Spirituality

Lately I've been quite anxious about my lack of religiousness and distant relationship with Islam and Allah.

I'm not a 'bad' muslim thank God..meaning I haven't indulged into grave sins knowingly, but at the same time..I'm totally not spiritual and I'm lacking the 'jazba' to strive to come near God.

I want to now change myself, become more in touch with my religion, more content at heart and everything and I'm sure there are Dua's, ways of doing things, and personal experiences, trial and error which if PP'ers shared, would go a long way.

So do you guys have any advice?

Best is not to read too many islamic treads on pakpassion. Because if you make an islamic point some people are very quickly to label you as Mullah(in a negative way). Just because you say something thats right.

But comming to your question.Read the Quran, read every ayaat with understanding.Read the seerah of the prophet(s.a.w.).Don't just follow someone. And perform the salaat 5 times a day.Pray to Allah for more imaan.Stay away from sins.

Taha

Start of by reading the small Dawah literature. The kind of literature which rids you ff misconceptions about islam. It is really basic stuff but can do wonders for your iman.

Than see what topic in islam really gets you exited and start reading up on that. For me it is politics and economics. I also like to read into other religions so books comparing islam with other religions and belief system are really interesting as well.

Go to your local mosque and attend Q&A seminars.

Watch Zakir Nayak videos,

Try to increase your nafal salaat every week,

There are many duas and dhikars you can do in your spare time, while on the bus/train, walking to the shops, or just sitting around doing nothing. This will take your mind of the rubbish that normally fills our minds up.

Goto people with knowledge and ask them to teach you about islam. Approach islam as a student. Learn from those who obviously know more and teach those who don't seem to know much.

Don't enter any fiqhs or madhabs straight away, listen to everyone sunni, shia, wahabi...everyone it will give you a better understanding of islam. Try to understand why there are differences. If you understand that all madhabs are islam than follow the practices and rituals of your local madhab or the madhab of your parents.

Inshallah your wish to be closer to Allah(swt) will turn out to be your first step..

I totally disagree.

Taha is smart enough to differentiate between good and bad advice.

As for people calling you Mullah in a negative or positive manner - it's their opinion - means nothing to Taha or his personal beliefs.
