West Indies in India ODI Series - 4th ODI

Toss Lara has chosen to bowl first. "I think the fast bowlers could get something from this track."

Pitch news There is a layer of fresh green grass, in patches, on the track. It has been raining last couple of days. Obviously there should be bit of moisture on it but the experts reckon it will take spin later on.

Team newsDwayne Bravo is out due to injury, while Jerome Taylor has been rested and Runako Morton is dropped. Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ian Bradshaw and Dwayne Smith are the replacements

D Powell and Taylor will be their key bowlers and Gayle need to score some runs.
I hope WI win this one.

About 20 years ago if i had told to a W Indian fan that in year 2007 they would have some one as mediocre as DR Smith open the bowling then i am sure i would have been ridiculed!

End of over 7 (17 runs) - India 47/1 (RR: 6.71)

R Dravid 0* (3b) DB Powell 4-0-33-1
SC Ganguly 13* (22b 2x4) DR Smith 3-0-13-0

6.6 Powell to Dravid, no run, drifts in on to the pads, tickled to square leg
6.5 Powell to Dravid, no run, again banged in short, outside off, Dravid jumps up, gets on top of the bounce and pushes it out to cover
6.4 Powell to Dravid, no run, outside off, left alone
6.3 Powell to Uthappa, OUT, Revenge! kicks up from short of length, outside off stump, Uthappa stabs at it and ends up steering it straight to first slip.
AR Uthappa c Gayle b Powell 28 (17b 3x4 2x6) SR: 164.70
6.2 Powell to Uthappa, SIX, Wallop! What a shot! He just leans forward to slightly short of length delivery and just goes through with the line. That ball has disappeared over long-on
6.1 Powell to Uthappa, SIX, Sehwagish! Short and outside off stump, Uthappa upper cuts it, short-arm jabs it over wide third man!
6.1 Powell to Uthappa, 5 wides, Way down leg side. Uthappa tries to pull, misses, so does Ramdin.

We need some quick wickets.

To be fair to Smith he is doing a much better job than his partner who happens to be going at over 10 runs/over!

37.4 Bradshaw to Tendulkar, no ball, FOUR!!, good length delivery on the middle and leg, Tendulkar goes on the backfoot and flicks it to deep mid wicket, past the fielder, he didn't try to hit hard, just pure timing, ominous signs for West Indies
37.3 Bradshaw to Tendulkar, FOUR!!!!, fractionally short again, Tendulkar goes on the backfoot and pulls it to deep mid wicket, Tendulkar is pressing on the gas now!!!
37.2 Bradshaw to Tendulkar, FOUR!!!!, short of length delivery outside the off stump, Tendulkar goes on the backfoot and cuts it square of the wicket, he picked the small gap between the fielders square of the wicket on the off side to perfection

From cricinfo:

48.2 Emrit to Dhoni, SIX, That bottom-handed twirl again. A classic You Tube moment. Full and right in the slot, the wrists works over time, the bat goes under the ball and sends it flying over long-on. Quite an amazing shot.

Can someone explain what a classic YouTube moment is???

48.5 Emrit to Tendulkar, FOUR, Lara drops a dolly! The cricketing goddess loves irony. AFter the special effort the previous delivery, he drops a simple catch. What's more it runs away to the boundary. Tendulkar had driven uppishly to cover.

49.3 Bradshaw to Tendulkar, FOUR, Dwayne Smith drops another dolly. Second life for Sachin. A fullish ball on the legs was whipped away, in the air, to long leg where Smith had all the time to take the catch. Ends up palming it to the boundary.

By the way ... here is what I was saying about Tendulkar and hundreds ....

Interesting stat 2003 TVS Cup against New Zealand in Hyderabad was the last time India won when Tendulkar scored a hundred. His next four hundreds have been in lost causes.

I don't undestand why Lara opted to bowl first. I guess he's going to be hoping for a massive Gayle force wind to fire to get close to this target. Plus Pathan is playing ... which is good news for the windies.

Congrats sachin-for a change he did bat well.......hopefully he will continue to give solidity to middle order in world cup too.....

Team for the world cup is finally sorting it out for us with Sachin, Dravid, Yuvraj & Dhoni certain to be India's middle ordere......

Now only good thing to come for india is Pathan bowling well today and Sehwag coming good vs SL...that would seal the world up spots!!

Agree it was a childish response by SRT but ur comment wasn't great either.....sachin played well for his 85...he got 2 chances when going for slogging in slog overs......what's wrong with that...WI didn't grab the chnaces....its not sachin's fault.......it seems u were discrediting his 85 runs.......I am not a scahin worshipper or even a fan but played well today and did deserves accolades...

The side definately looks stronger now that you have got rid of some of the rubbish like Sehwag, Raina and Kaif, but still too early to get all your hopes up. From the sounds of it this is a perfect batting pitch and only after the windies bat can you start praising this team. Bowling wise your still a bit weak unless you get a spinning track which this may be a bit of.

By the way I see Yuvraj is in the team. I guess India need him to find some form before the WC. The SL games will be crutial for him.

C'mon you guys if anyone ever says Tendulkar was dropped how does it automatically mean that he played rubbish or didn't deserve a century. You guys need to take a chill pill! Tendulkar played well.

I just critisized tendulkar on another thread today and said that he should
be dropped. Looks like he heard me and went back to his previous
style of batting. What I have seen lately is that Tendulkar putting too
much pressure on himself. This is what I don't like, if he plays his natural
game the way he played his Ranji trophy debut game than no one can even
come close to him. I still remember listening on the readio his ranji debut
century live commentary.

this is problem with Pak & Indian board/management. they make pitches batting paradise at home and then batsmen suffer when they have to play on fast pitches away from home
