How are we still in 3rd place...

Somehow we are still 3rd best team in the ODI world according to the ICC despite exiting first round CT trophy and being destroyed by South Africa....

Though NZ, India and England register big wins and are still behind us...

Make your mind up Offcutter, you mentioned the above three countries as possible contenders.

The table is not intended to be based on just ONE series. That's the whole point of it....to judge teams over a period of time.

Basically it jus goes to show that far too many of us are panicking too much, 3rd position, above India, NZ, WI, SL and England shows were a quality ODI outfit...........so come on folks, lets back every single plya in the squad all the way and not moan about who should and should not be there.

After all how many other sides in the WC can boast about having as many Match Winners in their first eleven as us? Not many

V have so many match winner
- Afridi
- Razzaq
- Yousuf
- Inzi
- Akhtar
- Asif

And therz many more.

We've been doing OK this year .. We lost a bunch of matches to SA which was the 2nd ranked team at the time of most of those matches. You don't lose many points for losing to the 2nd ranked team.

I really dont think we should put our faith in Ratings that much.

The Beemers a great car, but what good is it to you if have a tire missing and are unable to find one.

given the fact that not long ago we were number 2 in the rankings
i say that being number 3 and that too holding it by a whisker is more than a slip for us

ok lets have a look at this match winning lot

afridi plays 1 good innings in 10 so the world cup could be over before we see his best innings.

razzaq is afraid of the bouncing ball these days so has to wear 2 caps.

yousuf the real deal the only match winner in the side on current form.

inzi was the best but know too old and way past it.

akhtar the less said the better an injury prone prima donna who throws more tantrums than a 3 year old.

asif yet to prove himself in a world cup looks good but i feel he would have to bowl all his ten in 1 spell otherwise will probably get hammerd in the last 10 slog overs.

so their you have it only yousuf and asif who will be match winners. the others need to buck up their ideas.

you are ied third with new zealand...and the rating reflect form over a period of time....it took south africa 2 years , despite constant winning to over take australia...

And ... if you have a steering wheel that turns to the right when you want left ... and an accelerator that goes into overdrive when you are approaching potholes, but remains out of action on perfectly paved streets.
