Why have the opening ceremony 2 days before the first game? Wouldn't you have the match a day after the opening ceremony? It's stupid. Unless its a plan to make cricket fanatics even more excited and to get them going crazy that there is no cricket on.

ceremony was at night (local time), even though I m not sure when it ended as per local time. But it's good to give players one day for practice/rest (from last night).
it's not soccer which ll end in 90mins, they have to play whole day

Plus unlike soccer, the players themselves form part of the opening ceremony. Most teams will be flying out the next day to their local headquarters for their group stages matches. Olympics are different because it is based in one city, but here we are talking about many cities and countries.

Players can enjoy themselves at the opening ceremony and then have a full day to refocus on the task ahead. I dont think it would be a good idea to have the players fronting up to play straight after the party without time to get themselves adjusted so I think the ICC have done the right thing by the players.

Why didn't they have the opening game on Sunday or Saturday confuses me more. Saturday would have meant even OZ and Japanese would have seen the game without worrying about work or school.

Now I have to either leave for work now so I can catch the first innings or I leave at innings break

i think teams who are up to play first will need to be fully rested and the ceremonial day is something that would last till late night.......next morning the 2 teams would not be in perfect frame of mind.......i think 2 dayz after ceremoy is a well thought out idea....

Where are you?? I am in midwest (USA).

Don't complain!! I am in midwest (USA). You can't be worse that us. When the matches are West Indies, that is the only time we can watch during the day otherwise - no matter where the matches are, we get awful timings. Be it Pak, Ind, SL, BD, NZ, AUS, SAF or even England!

I am in west coast. match starts at 6:30 am I guess. I prefer the evening and night time as it doesn't bother with my work much
