Unhappy Bari stays away from Feroz Shah Kotla

From our correspondent

NEW DELHI: Pakistan’s chief selector Wasim Bari did not come to the ground to attend the sixth and final one-day match at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground on Sunday despite being in New Delhi.

Sources in the team said Bari didn’t come to the ground as he was not happy with the tickets given to him for the match by the team management.

"Bari was not happy with the category of tickets given to him for the final match and he kept on searching for the team manager Saleem Altaf till late night but no contact was made with him. As a result he didn’t go to the ground on Sunday," one source said.

Bari who attended the fifth match in Kanpur and also sat in the dressing room for a while, apparently, didn’t know that Saleem Altaf along with the Board Chairman Shaharyar Khan and team coach Bob Woolmer had been invited for the dinner hosted by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday night.

When contacted Altaf said he was not aware exactly why Bari had not come to the ground on Sunday, and when asked if any cricket topics were discussed with President General Pervez Musharraf at the Indian PM’s dinner, he said cricket was not discussed at all as the president was very busy.

However, the president is expected to discuss cricket matters when he meets with the team and management on Sunday night at a dinner hosted by the Pakistan High Commissioner.
