Hope Big brother Politics is not conspiring for Captaincy!

I read many members comments with great interest, and should admit that many cricket lovers on this forum put thier weight rightly behind Younis Khan for captaincy, and Malik for VC and as future captain.

But it seems just like many ex Pakistanis on this forum, Dr. Nasim Ashraf, being an outsider (spent most of his life in USA practicing as a doctor), also started his tenure as Chairman PCB with a mind free of regional bias, and thus strongly supported YK for captaincy, even at the start he re-instated YK for champaign trophy. He was probably waiting for WC to permanently replace Inzi with YK as captain in any event.

However, it looks like many stalwarts in PCB (other than DNA) can not swallow this pill of having a national team captain from a smaller province, or a province other than Punjab or Sindh. Therefore, well in advance they started conspiring against YK, and most probably started issuing statements, where they named players for captaincy who doesnt even warrant a place in team such as Afridi, just for the reason to create a rift in the team. Unfortunately, they don't have a choice of naming a single player, who is a regular member of the team. Personally, I think Malik got all the characteristics of a leader, but he needs to be groomed, and in recent past he doesnt even qualified for a place in test side, so it is hard to name him. Now in rush all out efforts are being made to prove that Afridi, Akmal, Butt could lead by giving them chances to lead regional teams in on going Pentangular cup. otherwise, it doesnt make sense that NWFP/Baluchistan is being captained by one player for who tournament (Arshad Khan) and for pubjab, sindh and KRL etc, they change captain for every match. To me it just look like a stupid attempt to put on Akmal, Butt, Afridi etc resume that they lead a side.

Since Pakistani Media is also controled by these two provinces since punjab plus sindh (56 + 23 = 79%) contribute most of the population, and thus control most of the media. Therefore, media also giving fume to every rumour that could go against YK.

Hope wisdom will prevail and Pakistani cricket will flourish despite all these political rumble.

Get with the times already... punjab -sindh-nwfp factions are so 10 years ago

It is all about the maulvi-non maulvi power struggle.......... YK is not popular with the maulvi and maulvi followers, ie mushtaq ahmed influence, inzy , yousuf, razzaq, afridi and co

Dude. First of all where the hell we started believing that Younis Khan should be the captain. First it was Imran Khan who supported him to be a captain. I was surprised because Younis doesnot merit a place in the side. He hasnot done anything special so they created room in the team to accomodate vice captain. For this reason Shoaib Mailk who was doing well one down position was given opening and later lower down the order he did well in all positions. In test matches we accomodated Younis Khan for Asim Kamal who was showing all the promise and temperament to be a really great test player. Come on man he scored like 99 twice once against SA and once against Australia in Sydney. Still he was dropped for what reason to accomodate Younis Khan. Not Mr Niswar Useless Younis Khan is the greatest Nakhra baaz I have seen in my life. He dont want to accept captaincy and also ready to goto Yorkshire to make quick bucks. He should never be the captain of Pakistan as he has been selfish and brought us down when we needed him the most

Like every good muslim and pathan he is trying to make money by hard work, not like many of your Mr. non Niswar rather Mr. sharab and pawn by selling national pride such as Salim Malik, Mushtaq Ahmad, Inzi, Wasim the great and on and on.

He is going to York shire because he made commitment with them under the flip flop administration of PCB. First PCB tried to cash the credit that they helped Gul and YK get county deals, and then all of a sudden PCB made arrangements for Dubai competition and expecting players to break their previous commitments. Does it sound professional?

So get a life and critisize if you know the facts.

Sorry if it hurts you, but this is true that reality is sad!!!!!!!!!!! if it is about the end of life or anything else, truth will always be harsh and sad. I didnt started this thread with any ill intentions, rather to provoke a productive discussion on a serious issue.

I totally understand that majority of the Pakistanis abroad wouldnt discriminate among ethnicities but within Pakistan it is always a big issue. It is fine as long as small provinces suffer, but if they complaint then it is false.

stupid thread. ifthat was case, Pathans wouldn't represent us in other sports and we wouldn't have pathan military officers posted on important posts.
if that was case, he wouldn't b vice captain in first place, some punjabi would have taken vice captain.
if that was case pathans Umar Gul, Yasir Hameed, YK, Afridi etc. wouldn't b part of Pakistani team.

don't take their internal differences (either within players or player's difference with board) on same line with this kind of bs

it's on all basis of dirty politics and not within ppl of Pakistan.
even small cities of Punjab & Sindh suffer from that as well.
Except Pindi/Lahore/ISL and may b faisalabad which other city of Punjab would have facilities ?
In Sindh, apart from Khi (khi suffer too as well ), all other cities suffers from same dirty politics.

ppl of Pakistan don't think same way as these politicians thinks. ppl travel from one province to another regularl basis. ppl from Punjab go to Peshawer,Quetta, Chaman etc. for business regularly.

Totally agree small towns and cities suffer, but I wish if people could do business in open faith.

If there is a choice then they wouldnt but in some cases you do need them. As far as Gul, Hamid, YK and Afridi are concern, you might have seen that PCB do their best not to play more than 2 in a match, but in many cases if you see whenever they played more than 2 from NWFP they won. Check the stat for whenever YK, Hamid and Afridi or Arshad played Pakistan won, but PCB always tried not to select more than 2 or 3 among 15 players.

Then you could also say Imran is also a pathan but being settled in Karachi make you of a lesser evil; plus no one seriously talking about making Afridi a captain. I am not supporting YK because he is from NWFP rather I think he is a better choice for leading the team among the present crop.

I will be more than happy if Pakistan could adopt SA strategy and pick a talented youngster for leading the side, for example Hasan Raza or even Khalid Latif who lead the junoir side.

Its sad really. We often see comments about bias and racism in the Westwern world. However we have the highest form of racism in Pak when you see Punjabis, Sindhis, Baluch, Pathan and Muhajir issues in the country.
