Records and Posibble Record Breakers

let's have a look at cricket records and palyers who could possibly ll break these records.

Most Wicket

ODIs :
Record Holder : Wasim Akram (Pak) with 503 wickets
Possible Record Breaker : Murali (SL) at moment he has around 450 wickets in ODIs and if he don't retire from ODIs, he ll surely break Wasim's record in next 1-2 year time

Test :
Record Holder : Shane Warne (Aus) with 700+ wickets
Record Breaker : Murali again, he is not far behind from Warne and soon ll b most highest wicket taker in test history. After Murali, no any other bowler in sight at moment.

Most Runs
ODIs :
Record Holder :Sachin Tendulkar (Ind) with 14,847 ODI runs
Possible Record Breaker : don't think there is any other player who ll b able to break that record, all players who have 10k+ runs ll b retiring soon. Ricky Ponting may retire from Odis in couple of year time too so not sure if he ll b able to break it and Saching is also still playing

Test :
Brian Lare : with 11953 runs at moment and still counting
Possible Breaker : the way Ricky Ponting is playing in past few years, he would over take Lara at end of his career, at moment Ponting have 9,368 runs. Sachin Tendulkar is not far away from Lara, SRT have 10,668 runs at moment and still may play for next 2-3 years.

Highest Score

ODIs:
Record holder : Saeed Anwer (Pak) 194 against India
Possible Breakers : many players who are capable of breaking this record and many have come very clsoe to this record as well but unable to do so till now. let's see who ll reach top finally.
Highest Score While Batting Second
Record Holder : Dhoni (India) with score of 187* against SL, he broke record of Brian Lara who scored 169 (I think) against Pakistan in Sharjah.

Test :
Brian Lara (WI) with 400* against england
Possible Breaker : not sure at moment who ll b able to break this record.

Most Sixes
In Inns :
Record Holder : Jointly held by Afridi (Pak) and Jayasurya (SL) with 11 sixes
Possible Breakers : many big hitters have chance, Hayden recently hit 10 six in his knock of 181* against NZ

Career Sixes :
at moment is held by Jayasurya But Afrdi ll take over him as he is jsut few sixes behind Jaya and Jaya's career is near to end.

In an over :
in recent WC Gibbs (SA) hit 6 sixes in an over and made the WC record.
some one ll may b able to equal it but ll b difficult to do so
let's discuss some other records

I think Ricky will break both Sachins and Lara s record.I sincerly believe he has an edge over both of them (aluminium bats notwithstanding). His form at the moment is unbelievable.

As for Saeed Anwars record of 194,it is very near to be broken.I would suppose Graeme Smith, AB Devillers,Matty Hayden,Mark Boucher re definete contenders.

Also lets not forget AB devillers record of 4 ducks in this tournament. That must be a world record.

Good stats there! DHoni's 183* was almost beaten by Gibb's 175, i reckon if Gibbs had stayed till the end of the innings he would have scored atleast 235.

He got close to it.
Gibbs got out in the 32nd over, i don't think any one has ever gotten up to 170 until at least the 43rd over while Gibbs was already there in the 30th .

Have you noticed when a batsmen is usually 170-180+ they are usually so exhausted
that they just want to hit out or get out...

it's not only Dhoni who came near Saeed Anwer's record
Sachin 180+*
Jaya : 189 (stumped on wide ball)
Ganguly : 188
Dhoni : 183*
Gibbs : 175
Hayden 181*

And not sure if Ponting ll b able to break both records. Though it ll depend on Sachin and LAra's form for next 2-3 years. As at moment Ponting is behind Lara by 2,000 runs and 5,000 runs behind Sachin in ODIs so it will b tough job for Ponting to get both records. Also keep in mind, he may retire from ODIS after 2-3 years to have longer test career.

is Murali planning to retire from ODIs after WC?

BTW which team have score 300+ runs most of time ?
and which team have won most number of tournaments ?

for Scoring most number of 300 runs, few years back Pak & Aus were very close to each other, but now I think Aus would be clear leader and some other teams may cross Pak as well.
Also for number of tournaments, Pak & Aus were close for like 4-5 years ago, but since then Pak haven't won any tournaments and Aus goes on to win most of times.

Any stats on these one ?

Also who hold the record for most number of "fours" in Inn ? (for test & Odis both)
