Kabir Ali

I met kabirs uncle father of kadeer ( gloucs opener ) and moen ( former worcs u 19 skipper ).

Discussing cricket with him was rather interesting he told me how vaughan and fletcher shut kabir out of the england set up. Apparantley he was told to bowl of 10 paces instead of his full run up. Compared to the likes of anderson , plunkett and saj mahmood kabir has had less chances and less failures and had the bottle to bowl at the end of the innings aswell.

If fletcher wanted to make him an allrounder he would have and hed be somewhere around the squad now. Due a recall I think under the new regime has rather suffered like shah and solanki under the fletcher/vaughan dictatorship.

I will try to get an interview arranged in the future with moen ali if possible.

OH AND KABIR GOT 8 WIKCETS TODAY

I played with Kabir quite a bit for Warwicks youth / in the Birmingham area. Personally I feel it is another case of a promising Asian not given adequate chances at Edgbaston. Even Moeen, who was England U-19s Skipper has had to move on. People like Sheryrar, The Alis, Anurag Singh, Sheikh, Wasim Khan etc have never had the opportunities that they should have and had to go to another county. In fact Wasim wrote a book, in which he talks about it. I haven't read it yet, but speaking to him at the time I know that is how he felt.

I hope Tahir doesn't go the same way. The local Asian population has a lot of talent yet Warwicks doesn't have a great history of either tapping into it or signing overseas players from Asia. They have tended to prefer Saffies. Kumar is a welcome change. As for England it is much the same story although things began to change after Hussain became skipper.

Kabir didn't perform well enough to keep his place in the England set up.

This makes me laugh- 5 wickets in his one and only test match and he gets dropped never to have played since.

Kabir is an a-hole though, I met him and I gave salaam. No salaam back and he says 'I don't play cricket!' What a fool- my mate is his cousin and he has a big ego. same with pretty much all Asians that play for England (e.g. Mahmood, Afzaal).

I do hope he gets back in the team though.
