Will Inzi reign as king of the carribean again? (ODI series)

When pakistan last toured the west indies in 99/00 they played in a tri-angular odi series against zimbabwe and west indies. In the group stage pakistan found going head to head V west indies tough lossing both games. However the best of 3 finals against the same oppostion was a different matter.

final 1 - http://www.cricinfo.com/link_to_dat..._19APR2000.html

final 2 - http://www.cricinfo.com/link_to_dat..._22APR2000.html

final 3 - http://www.cricinfo.com/link_to_dat..._23APR2000.html

All 3 finals where played on very substandard pitches. The wickets where uneven and bowlers from both sides enjoyed bowling on them. Pakistan batsmen on the whole struggled barring one man Inzi. In the 1st final he scored 66 and in the 3rd final he scored 39* , both knocks where worth centurys anywhere else in the world. Inzi showed he had so much time and skill to adapt to horrendous conditions.

The knock of 39* @ port of spain to me is one of inzis best ever ODI knocks. The target was only 115, but inzi showed bravery in leading pakistan home not only to a series win. Pakistan became the 1st ever side to win an ODI series in the west indies in the HISTORY of the game.

---------------------

lets hope inzi can repeat his heroics again this time round.

Any1 remember that ODI series?

Inzi has an amazing record against West Indies I think his career average against them in tests is over 75 and given his recent form it could be yet another run feast for him.

During that ODI series inzi was in prime form. barring the 2nd odi FINAL, inzi scored pretty well in rest of the games. although he never scored an ODI ton in that series, he scored a huge amount of runs in the context of the conditions which to be quite frank where a joke for ODI cricket.

I remember them. The 3rd final was hard to watch cause it was pretty late at night in Dubai and due to the slow nature of the game, I may have fallen asleep.
I remember some of Imran Nazir's knocks during the round robin stages though

If they make substandard pitches for ODIs, Inzi will probably be the highest scorer from Pakistan. If they are all flatbeds and complete batting tracks, I think Youhana will be the highest scorer for the series.

Inzi may very well score freely again based on his form and his stature as father-figure (although that figure gets tarnished once Shoaib is back).

Wasn't Inzi practically batting on one leg by the end of that 3rd final?

I remember drowsily watching it in Pakistan, it was hot and the middle of the night.

Reon King was quite a handful in those days, looked a fine prospect, all went downhill pretty fast, though we may see him back against Pak soon.

yeah hes was limping in final match with a hamstring problem. he bravely battled on and didnt ask for a runner. reon king and franklin rose in that series bowled very well and both looked like eventually taking over the mantle from ambrose and walsh. sadly for w.i cricket King had to many personal problems and was side tracked and rose just fell away.

I remember wasim and inzi just bravely batting away for what seemed eternity to get the runs. The cricket was gripping but was bordering shocking due to conditions.

The ODI venue stats for the series are very intresting.

1st odi @ St. Vincent

west indies played 15 - won 14 lost 1
pakistan played 2 - won 1 lost 1

14 wins out of 15 games is superb

2nd & 3rd odis @ Gros Islet, St Lucia

west indies played 5 - won 4 lost 1
pakistan never played on the ground

-------------

looks like 2 fortress like venues will need to be conquered
