Google Street View

What will they think of next?

This is amazing and the thought of mapping all the streets in the world could lead to some phenomenal ideas.

http://maps.google.com/help/maps/streetview/

Right now it's available for select cities in the US. In some cases the level of detail is so high you can clearly read things like number plates from cars, tiny sign posts etc.

People have already started compiling a list of interesting street views:

Google is a company anyone will want to work for. They have a lot of money and restraunts (I wouldn't call them cafeteria) at their main location.

I know two people who have quit their jobs. One I don't know at a personal level but he was way up the ranks at google.

Far as the street view is concerned. It is pretty nice to see what you might be looking for when your driving somewhere. Brooklyn, NY has been on street view for a while. I can see my house...couple of our cars even read their number plates.

Just last night I wanted to find the number for a chinese restaurant which is roughly two blocks away my house. Couldn't find it on yellow pages or google. Went onto street view...zoomed into the store sign...got the number...placed the order so by the time I walked into the place my food was ready!

things like these can be handy.
