Shoaib Malik and Dravid agree on coach
Shoaib, Dravid agree on coach
GLASGOW, Glasgow: Rival skippers Shoaib Malik and Rahul Dravid agree that Pakistani and Indian cricket teams need a regular coach though both sides have been doing just fine without them after the World Cup. The skippers made their comments as their teams’ potentially glamorous one-off clash at Clydesdale Cricket Ground was totally washed out on Tuesday. Pakistan have beaten Sri Lanka 2-1 in a series at Abu Dhabi in May, nearly two months after their early exit from the World Cup in the West Indies while India are fresh from a surprise 2-1 series victory over South Africa in Ireland. Both the teams achieved these victories without the services of a regular coach. “The need of a coach can’t be over-emphasised,” Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik said. “Whether he is a foreigner or a Pakistani, he should be able to motivate the team to greater glory,” he said. Indian skipper Rahul Dravid said though his team, which also bowed out of the World Cup in the very first round, were ecstatic with the series victory over South Africa away from home, the Indians needed the services of a coach. “There can be no two opinions about the importance of a coach.” Meanwhile, the day after the Friendship Cup one-off One-day International match was called off at Clydesdale Cricket Ground, it was a clear, though partially cloudy, day at Glasgow on Wednesday after a week of incessant rains. The respective cricket boards of Pakistan and India will now check their busy calendars and find a new date for the charity match. Manoj Badale, a spokesman for the British Asian Trust, said the match will now take place at a suitable, though yet undetermined date, and that the insurance had protected the £1.5 million income from the match for the charity organisation. Both the skippers, in their statements, expressed regrets at the calling-off of the match organised by Prince Charles’s charity organisation, British Asian Trust. Prince Charles came to the ground on Tuesday morning to meet the two sets of players and officials but the match was called off after a four and half hours of wait for it to start. __________________________________________________ good to see both captains having same opinion on coaches but i am really looking forward for the India vs Pakistan clash and missing my fav shoaib akhtar vs Tendulkar battle ![]() |

Coaches are always an asset, except for the times when the coach starts having personal issues with the players, which usually occurs in Pak/indian Cricket.
