Are we going to have a summer

Whatever happened to global warming?

It's been non stop rain here in the UK, we're lucky to see a bit of sun peeping through the clouds now and then.

Last summers hosepipe ban (due to not enough rainfall) is set to be replaced with a dodgy drains warning (due to too much rainfall).

My serotonin levels are critical, I need some sun!!

how can people complain about rain? I would love to live somewhere (apart from the UK) where it rained a lot.

I dont mind the rain but we get rain for the rest of the year too, at least in the summer we're entitled to a bit of sunshine.

Oh wow, you guys are not getting much heat? Hear in North East US, the summer has been very hot this year. Also the west has been getting it hard, with many forest fires. I hear the the south is getting rains though and summer has been mild, which has led them to question the whole validity of global warming.

This is exactly what Global warming does, droughts and heat in some places while increasing and heavier rainfall in others. Storms intensify and climatic extremes become more common. The cyclones in Asia have been very intense with heavy flooding in Oman and then later in Karachi and Baluchistan.

It felt like we were not going to get any winter this year with very mild temperatures all the way through January. But then we had extreme cold for over 2 weeks with the temperature constantly below freezing. If this pattern holds then hopefully before the end of summer you will get your share of hot days .

i feel for you guys...june here was rainy as well...but july has been too hot...temperatures in the high 20's and low 30's celcius...

and global warming does not necessarily mean warm temperatures...its refers more to erratic weather patterns...

come to Seattle (Washington state). I was there couple of weeks ago and it rained average of 4 times a day but it was not heavy rain. It was probably more. Nice place, gets cold in winters but traffic can be bad and Vancouver (Canada) is about 130 some miles from there

Its all God's fault ultimately.

He doesnt want me to make good on my promise to take the kids to Alton Towers.

Just 'popping out' to Cornwall tomorrow morning with kids in the back of the big bad Merc. Looking forward to 6 hours and 350 miles of driving in total luxury. Going to Hyle, near Land's End. Went there last year as well. Lovely sandy beach, Penzance. St Ives, Land's End within 10 miles, lovely. Absolutely wild and rugged sea (over 3000 recorded shipwrecks), once a safe haven for smugglers, pirates and wreckers. I love it there, simply adore it.

No.

It would seem that there literally isn't going to be a summer this year. La Niña is forming and for some reason that I don't understand that messes up our summer.

At the start of April I was looking forward to a great summer and mainly looking forward to playing for my cricket team, apprantly it has'nt gone to plan and since early june it's been nothing but crap winter weather, all those practice sessions gone down the drain and the tournament is only 2 weeks away, also our cricket team has'nt had any decent practice.

At this time last year wasn't it like a heatwave in the UK? I remember June and July having temperatures in the 30s. Just goes to show what a crappy climate we live in.

The whole thing about climate change is that weather will become more extreme more often. E.g. this winter was one of the warmest on record, and up until March the snowfall for Boston was 2 inches (average for that time was 25 inches). then in April and May we got heaps of snow, more than the usual. Now we've had a scorching summer where the temp has regularly been in the 90s.

We're changing our planet, no mistake about it.

That's British weather for you. The British weather can be strange, this often happens where I live in the midlands, about a year ago, the day started off in heavy rain, then 2 hours later the sun came out, half an hour later heavy rain again, then an hour later warm sunshine, 2 hours after that heavy rain yet again!.

This morning it was like a monsoon. I've never seen rain like it in my life. There was a puddle the size of a lake on the pavement outside my house. If August is as bad as this i might as well go into hibernation.
