Graduation Ceremonies
I yesterday attended with my 2 daughters, my wife's graduation ceremony. I have to say it was probably one of the proudest and best days of my life.
Lovely atmosphere, hearing her name being called out, huge applause, the pomp and ceremony of the whole occasion, the speeches by the honoured guests, the photographs etc etc brilliant. For those of you who have graduated, tell us about your graduation ceremonies, what do you remember about the day, any funny moments etc ? |

went to my sisters last friday...it was spread over 2 locations - 2 ceremonies(dunno why) 2 lots of food..
desserts were strawberries and cream, trifle. cream cakes and other minature sweets( one was some mango and chocolate mini cake like dessert). variety of tarts, quiches, breads, rices, salads, sandwiches, pasta and noodles. potato rostis and croquettes, plus samosas, pokoras , bhajis and other tidbits. Geez!! I am a little tired of Graduation ceremonies now a days. Each year I have to attend one (forced). my students.
As for my own one, had been in three of them. The first one was special. The rest all the same. |

I have got mine tomorrow, so will let you know all about it. It helps if the weather is good but looks like it will be raining.
My sisters have had theirs and to me its not that important. Just your 2 secs of fame with a handshake of some random head of school or Chancellor of the Uni who doesnt know your name. |

I didn't turn up at mine and, to be honest, I regret it. You must take your kids along if you have any. I should have but didn't.

Didn't go to mine. did go to couple of friends for the party afterwards. It didn't seem right just to show up for the party. During the ceremony some of us were standing at the back waiting for it to be over

Well Done Saj, did some one get honorary degree from guest speakers?.
I had mine on 13th July at Birmingham uni Great Hall. It was best moment of my life and for my parents. My dad could hardly walk because of foot operation but he still attended the ceremony. It was a fantastic day but rain spoiled it a bit. I had a bet with my friends about kissing chancellors hand. Which I almost one. |

Had mine yesterday. Rained all day
but was good fun. Can't believe those who didnt attend theirs. My friends and I were like thats it no more University. No more ticking the boxes of student on forms any more. Will miss Uni life and better get ready for the real world. |

Congrats to your wife mian.
To be honest, graduations have meant nothing for me so far. I think I really realized it this year in univeristy because you realize how much harder you have to work. Everyone goes through elementary school (like your peers) and it does not feel anything special. Just a process. However university is a choice and much more of a harder challenge. I think if I do graduate (inshallah), it will mean alot more to me than any of my other previous graduations. |
