Time to Make Twenty/20 cricket more of an even battle

Whilst we all appreciate huge hitting and monster sixes sailing into the crowd.

Most bowlers in this tournament seem to be almost resigned to the fact that they are going to be on the wrong end of a pasting from the batsmen.

I'd like the ICC think tank to make it more of an even contest.

Add your suggestions in this thread on how twenty/20 cricket can be more of an even contest between bat and ball?

One suggestion is to allow two bouncers per over.

My suggestion is to abolish 20/20. This is a game for glorified slogging. It is almost like playing playstation cricket. It needs to be stopped. Of all the possible improvements to the game England had to come out with this invention. Ironically they sucked big time despite being pioneers.

and one is to allow one more fielder outside the circle in first 6 overs / powerplay

this will mean total of 3 men outside the circle this will give some hope to bowlers

Majority of the 6s in the tournament have been pure cricketing shots, Misbah, Yuvraj, Malik, Hayden, Gibbs are a testimoney to this.

I think the approach to the game needs to be chnaged by the teams themselves and the way how Pakistan has played recetly is how 20/20 should be played.

Hope they play just in olympics . It is painful to watch bowlers in agony. To add to insult they have this free hit of a noball. Too many sixes are really boring. It is just not cricket. It is more like kwalampoor sixer tournament or the double wicket tournament or any other benefit match.

I think that if a batsmen doesnt score an runs for 3 balls he should be given out! Excluding extras, wides and No balls obviously!

bring in double play, meaning two players can be run out or a catch and runout.

every two overs one more fielder can go out of the circle - to max 5-6 fielders.

do not have 57 m boundry. go by the minimum set for tests which I thought was around 65 m

a batsman can play maximum of 30 balls - they have some similar rule in Super Sixes but fewer balls

make the stumps a little wider (spread out) like a chair

play with tennis or tape ball to differentiate it from regular cricket and this way they can play in rain too.

I read this suggestion on PP a few days before but I really liked it and would like to mention it here - I think the number of players allowed to bat should be reduced to 6 or 7 !

Just on the topic of 20-20 in general, and i suppose it relates to the evenness of the battle, I'm in two minds on it. On the one hand, I really enjoy the pace and immediacy of it, there're no 'lull periods', eg with ODI's typically overs 25-35, depending on situation of course. On the other hand, the battle is one sided in favour of the batsmen, huge overs and many boundaries. It has a diluting effect on sixes and fours, especially sixes, lose their novelty.
