I cant see Barca rejecting that - since they can use that to try to sign Henry

I agree he is a very good player. But I don't think he will be suited to the premiership. I might be wrong, but I think it would be too much of a gamble to buy him.

FC Barcelona, one of Europe's biggest football clubs, is poised to end more than a hundred years of tradition and allow sponsorship on its team shirts.
Club president Joan Laporta is in China to seal a 100m-euro (£68m; $129m) deal to promote Beijing as the host city of the 2008 Olympic Games.

Set up in 1899, the Catalan club has never sold the rights to its shirts.

Any deal is set to be controversial as supporters have fought to protect the purity of the red-and-blue team strip.

Cash or culture?

According to press reports, Barcelona would put just the word "Beijing" on the front of their shirts.

The simplicity of the logo and its link with the Olympic Games, rather than with a corporation or business , is hoped to win support for the deal, the papers said.

Barcelona said that its president is in China to discuss a sponsorship deal, but declined to give further details.

Newspapers have said that any deal would run for five years and after the Beijing Olympics, Barcelona would promote the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou.

Currently six points clear at the top of the Spanish league, Barcelona has fought its way back from years of poor performance and under achieving.

Should it want to stay top of the tree and stake a claim on the showpiece European Champions' League, then Barcelona is going to have to buy big name players and pay them multimillion-pound contracts.

The club has been looking at ways of boosting revenues as it fights off the challenge from big-spending domestic rivals such as Real Madrid, and UK teams such as Chelsea and Manchester United.

Cash generating plans such as increasing membership numbers have not always been well received and have come in for criticism as the tickets to matches at the massive Nou Camp stadium have become harder to find.

On top of that, Barcelona fans are fiercely proud of their Catalan heritage and history.

It is still owned by its 125,000 or so members, who have to vote on matters such as the appointment of the club's president.

Barcelona, along with Athletic de Bilbao, is one of only two teams in the Spanish league to have refused to give up the rights to their kit.

Manchester United are in talks with Barcelona over a sensational swap deal involving Ruud van Nistelrooy and crack Cameroon ace Samuel Eto'o.

The Sun says United have offered Van Nistelrooy to Barcelona for Eto'o as it emerged this week that the Dutch ace has had showdown talks with manager Sir Alex Ferguson about his future at Old Trafford.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta would love to bring Van Nistelrooy to the Nou Camp, knowing full well that he is also on the shopping list of bitter rivals Real Madrid.

While Laporta and coach Frank Rijkaard have publicly backed Eto'o this season, the African's fiery temperament has seen him clash with management in recent months and the opportunity to swap the former Mallorca star for Van Nistelrooy will prove tempting for both men

Arsenal will never sell henry did you read what what david dein said? He said arsenal wouldn't even sell him for a 100million so whats 45million?
Barcelona should keep him if they have aspirations to win the champions league becuase there aint alot that can replace him. Also if he leaves i think it will split the whole team up before you know it Ronaldiniho will be giving his transfer request in.

Master-P whilst Eto'o is a fantastic player he is not imo the vital player in Barca's team - he is replacable cos there are goalscorers out there available BUT the one man who cannot be replaced is RonnyD - aslong as he is at the club they will still be a top side

I thought it wud be appropriate to write the following in this thread!

I went to watch us play Mallorca at St James when we played them in the Uefa Cup (we won 4-1 i think) and Eto'0 was playing for them - Bramble had Eto'o in his pocket - didnt let him free at any time during the game!

Nah Bramble was just fantastic

Bramble on his day is quality BUT he used to make far too many mistakes - however lately he has cut them down and he has been far more consistent
